Stop playing the victim, Khaled tells Annuar
Mohamed Khaled Nordin (left) says Annuar Musa should not create a perception that he is a ‘victim’ of Umno.
PETALING JAYA: Umno vice-president Mohamed Khaled Nordin has told Annuar Musa not to act like a “victim” after the former Barisan Nasional secretary-general said he would continue to push for Malay unity even if he was fired from the party.
“There has been no news or rumour that he is to be sacked,” said Khaled on Facebook.
“So why does he want to create a perception that he is a ‘victim’? It will only create a misunderstanding.”
Khaled said it was “unhealthy” for Annuar to continue criticising Umno openly, and his statements affected camaraderie, created confusion and weakened support for the party.
Annuar, the Ketereh MP, said yesterday that he “would not give up” pushing for the unification of Malay parties even if he was sacked for being friendly towards a “certain Malay party”, an obvious reference to PPBM.
The federal territories minister added that he was confident Umno would be stronger if it worked and cooperated with all Malay parties.
Claiming there were efforts to sow hatred among Malay parties by certain quarters, he also said it was crucial that these parties work together instead.
In a Facebook post last month, Annuar alleged that there were ongoing tactics and efforts to scare Umno members into thinking the party needed to be protected from the influence of PPBM and PAS.
