Mahathir Implicated In UMNO Secret Slush Funds
(FMT) – A member of PPBM’s Supreme Council has called for an investigation into an allegation of a secret Umno slush fund.
Muhammad Faiz Na’aman said the allegation of the secret bank account would implicate former Umno presidents, and was a betrayal of Umno’s members, Malaysiakini reported.
The allegation of a secret bank account was made in a suit filed by the government to seize funds which were allegedly linked to 1Malaysia Development Bhd. Umno had claimed that money the government wanted to seize belonged to the party.
However, the prosecution claimed that the money was held in a secret unaudited account used to receive political donations and contravened provisions of the Societies Act.
Faiz was quoted as saying the fact that the account existed since 1988 would implicate former Umno presidents. At that time, Dr Mahathir Mohamad was Umno president.
Mahathir ceased to be the UMBO President 17 years ago.
ReplyDeleteWhatever crime that he may have been involved in, it is a practical and legal impossibility to prosecute him.
HOWEVER, Current and Recent Past UMBO Presidents such as Jawa Man and AhJib Gor can and should be prosecuted to the fullest extent for such crimes sufficient evidence is found.
In actual fact, there have been rumours for decades of secret illegal UMBO funds that only a select few have knowledge of and control over. We are talking Billions.
The AG Ikan Haru(a)n released Musa Aman from corruption charges because he said due to the passage of time, financial records were no longer available and witness evidence have become unreliable or they have passed away. So how to prove anything from Toonsie1.0 era?
ReplyDeleteBut Jibby....ha ha ha... UMNO money was found in his house just 3 years ago, and the beauty of it was UMNO themselves have made claim to the money which does not appear in their official accounts submitted to ROS.
How stupid can you get?
And to top it all off the ex-President and the Treasurer of UMNO (Jibby and Tengku Adnan) have been found guilty of corruption in court so we know they are dishonest people.
But KT is so “chow sim” only zoom in on Toonsie...ha ha ha.....
Ulangkaji......"Cash Is King" comically tries very hard to explain his way out but instead digs a huge crater for himself and UMNO and he also implied the other 12 BN component parties received undeclared money.
ReplyDeleteElection law limits the amount of money that can be spent on elections and after the election all parties are supposed to submit their accounts to ROS, but UMNO did not declare or explain the millions found in Jibby's possession.
So EC and ROS bagaimana....? need to check DAP's EXCEL file again...? ha ha ha....

Najib maintains cash seized from residences was Umno's funds for election campaign
By NST Online - June 27, 2018
KUALA LUMPUR: Former Umno president Datuk Seri Najib Razak has reiterated that most of the RM116 million in cash in various currencies seized during raids at residences linked to him and his family had been money meant for the party’s election campaign. This despite the fact that the money was seized after the 14th general election. Najib gave several reasons why the money was in cash and in an apartment which was not his.
““You will not know how much it (an election campaign) costs exactly. And you will not know as well how much people will contribute to you.
“It is impossible to have a clean zero balance so to speak. In any case, when you fight an election, you have to spend pre-election, during election and post-election. Don't forget I was president of the party of Umno and BN (chairman) with 13 component parties.
“Running a major party with three million members like Umno is an expensive affair. And again, it is on record, when (Tun Dr) Mahathir (Mohamad) resigned (as Umno president), he handed over RM1.4 billion to (his successor, Tun) Abdullah (Ahmad) Badawi in assets and cash. That is on record. So when you consider the context, it is a fraction of the amount,” he told Malaysiakini in an exclusive interview.
When the news portal pointed out that the RM1.4 billion was not only in cash, Najib acknowledged this but added that during election time, money was required with immediacy and therefore, transactions using the banking system would not be best. Malaysiakini reported that Najib did admit that some of the cash, which had been found in 26 currencies, had been his.
“There were some of my own because I have been traveling for over 30 years. But there were also contributions in foreign currency... some people rather contribute in foreign currency,” he added.
On why the cash was kept at Pavilion Residences, Najib explained that things were done in haste following the election result, when Barisan Nasional lost to Pakatan Harapan.
“It all happened in a hurry, you see. We had to vacate within two hours the PMO (Prime Minister's Office) and Sri Perdana (the prime minister’s official residence). Mind you, in PMO, there is a strongroom built by my predecessor and also at Seri Perdana, there is a strongroom, so that was designed.
“The intention is quite clear. They know when you fight an election, you also have to maintain cash. The opposition knows it as well. They also maintain cash.
“I know it is not something that is known in the public realm but it is not peculiar. It has happened in the past and until we change the rules and the law in terms of election funding, this will continue,” he added.
