Police probe again with respect to Emergency Declaration, this time against DAP's Aziz Bari over his comment on king

Malaysiakini:

Cops to probe Aziz Bari over his comment on king

Perak opposition leader Abdul Aziz Bari is expected to be questioned by Police on Wednesday over his comment on the king during a Facebook live session.

Aziz, who is Perak DAP vice-president, told Malaysiakini that he believed the probe would be on his comment about the position of the Agong concerning the proclamation of the emergency during the live session.

"This is just some of the issues discussed during my Facebook live ... but what I can say is that everything I said has a basis in the constitution," he said, adding that a police report was filed against him.

Meanwhile, Perak police chief Mior Faridalathrash Wahid confirmed that the police would record Aziz's statement on Wednesday, but he said that the state police would not be involved in the probe.

It is learned that a team of the Bukit Aman classified criminal investigation unit (D5) will record Aziz's statement.

On Jan 12, Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah had consented to a Declaration of Emergency Proclamation to curb the growing number of Covid-19 cases after being advised by Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

The emergency is in effect up until August this year. During this time, parliament and assembly sittings are suspended.

However, critics claimed that Muhyiddin had used the emergency order to save his government from collapsing after he lost the majority support in the parliament.
