F**k Beer, but STOP dictating our lifestyles according to your religious beliefs

MM Online - Stand up to bigotry, ex-Treasury sec-gen tells KL mayor (extracts):

Tan Sri Mohd Sheriff Mohd Kassim

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 24 -- Former Treasury secretary-general Tan Sri Mohd Sheriff Mohd Kassim urged the Kuala Lumpur mayor today to defend the city’s cultural and entertainment life from racial and religious bigotry.

Expressing concern over Kuala Lumpur City Hall’s (DBKL) ban of a beer festival in a shopping centre following objections from Islamist party PAS, Mohd Sheriff said bending to pressure groups and cancelling music and cultural festivals last minute would affect the capital city’s economy.

“It is worrying to see that the DBKL is giving support to the anti-social elements who want to dictate our lifestyles according to their religious beliefs,” Mohd Sheriff said in a letter to the editor.

“We are seeing political and religious groups making demands for Muslims to be treated separately from other Malaysians at public laundry shops and toilets, at supermarkets, at cinemas and for liquor sales to be outlawed in majority Muslim residential areas. The DBKL ban on beer festival has encouraged these groups to be more brazen in their demand,” he added.

The issue of drinking beer per se is not the issue, but it's what Tan Sri Mohd Sheriff Mohd Kassim has succinctly pointed out, to wit, '... anti-social elements who want to dictate our lifestyles according to their religious beliefs.'

Yup, those arsehole-y anti-social elements want to shaft their beliefs and practices down our throats.

In the meantime, Azmin Ali, MB of a dodgy teetering state government which is being held together by slime, saliva, & semen, has been reported by The Malaysian Insight as saying in political-bullspeak with regards to The Better Beer Festival, as follows:

The organiser of the Better Beer Festival must comply with all regulations set by local authorities if it intends to relocate the event venue to Selangor, said Menteri Besar Mohamed Azmin Ali.

He said the state government's stand was to respect the customs and cultures of all the races that formed the Malaysian population.

Nevertheless, he said, the law must be obeyed.
"We (the state government) respect and preserve the rights of minorities, but we must abide by laws"

... but without elaborating which and what law, wakakaka, and the way he said "Nevertheless, he said, the law must be obeyedWe (the state government) respect and preserve the rights of minorities, but we must abide by laws" seems to imply the Better Beer Festival organisers won't want or won't be able to comply with whatever law in Selangor that Azmin has in mind, wakakaka.

But we may guess intelligently by referring to his fellow PKR-ista, Amidi Abdul Manan, deputy chairman of PKR’s religious strengthening and understanding bureau (Bippa or Biro Pemahaman dan Pemantapan Agama), who declared Beer festivals in Malaysia (not just KL or Selangor) should not be approved and the Better Beer Festival 2017 should have been thwarted from the very beginning.

Aiseh, Ustaz Amidi Abdul Manan, PAS would be proud of you.

Dr Tan Kee Kwong
son of the redoubtable late Tan Sri Dr Tan Chee Khoon

PKR members who support the beer festival like Wangsa Maju MP Dr Tan Kee Kong would be, in best case scenario, ignored by their party, wakakaka. And I leave you to imagine the worst case scenario.

Last week, Nottingham University’s Prof Zaharom Nain lambasted Amanah MP Dr Siti Mariah Mahmud’s objections to the beer festival, said it was truly idiotic for anyone to even suggest consumption of beers at The Better Beer Festival will lead to alcoholic addiction.

In other words, she was either a moron for all the academic credentials she has or she had bullshitted, wakakaka.

Prof Zaharom Nain and 'the truly idiotic', wakakaka

Prof Zaharom Nain said:

“Show us evidence when you make such assertions."

“Religious fervour is religious fervour, but don’t make idiots out of yourselves, please."

“Also, nobody’s forcing you to (drink), as it is a ‘sin’. So, don’t force others to do your bidding."

“Finally, health grounds? Eating like a pig at kenduris is also unhealthy. And check out the health benefits of wine, for example.”

Wakakaka, Eating like a pig at kenduris is also unhealthy. And check out the health benefits of wine, for example.”

Yes, wine (especially red wine) contains antioxidant which helps to prevent diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer's disease and macular degeneration.

Again, Professor Zaharom Nain pointed out the real reason for non-Muslims objections to DBKL banning of The Better Beer Festival due to pressure from PAS' objections, namely, for ultra conservative Muslims in Malaysia not to force non-Muslims to do their bidding.

What next? Pork? Our religions (already f**ked kau kau in Perlis)? Our laundry facilities?

  1. It needs to be understood that the Better Beer Festival would have not been possible to be held in the public area of a shopping mall in most Western countries (Germany being an exception).

In UK, Australia, New Zealand, most Canadian juristidictions, most US states, beer can only be sold to the public by licensed retailers.
Other than inside private property, beer can only be consumed in licensed premises such as pubs, inns, bars, licensed restaurants, BYO food outlets, and then strictly within prescribed operating hours.

Exceptions have been made in tourism-oriented districts, but these are exceptions to attract visitors and their $$.

Malaysia (still) has more liberal laws on beer sale and consumption than most Western countries, and non-Muslims should accept and appreciate what they have instead of knee jerk reactions.

    1. I accept that Malaysia by history has very liberal laws regrading beer and stout.

But The Better Beer Festival is an exception in that it's only held once a year for non-Muslims and tourism. That's why the organizers applied for a permit and how DBKL rejected that applicant after PAS applied pressure on DBKL.

Non-Muslims are irated becaus ethe permit permitted year after year has this time been withheld all because of a minority party like PAS whose main business seems to be interfering with non- Muslims activities like Valentine's Day, beer, selena gomez, etc and once, even koe-tai in PAS' Kedah.

    2. You are right about drinking laws in many western countries.

I lived in Vancouver, Canada from 1992 to 1994 and was surprised to learn that it is an offence to drink alcohol whilst walking in the street or even on the front lawn of your home in public view. If one wants to drink alcohol outside one's house, one has to do so in one's back yard, if available or one could be fined.

I don't know how the law there would have regarded such a beer fest in a place like Publika, which would be in an indoor public place.

In contrast, back in Malaysia, people could and can still buy beer in a convenience store and drink on the steps by the street outside, like the drunkards on the steps of the convenience store near my place who litter the steps with empty beer cans.

So yes, on the one hand we are more liberal and on the other we are not.

This obsession over this Better Beer Fest on both sides and all the actions and statements for and against following it banning by DBKL are an example of "Malaysian politics at its best".

No elected representative, not even those in Penang have so far said that they will allow the Better Beer Fest in their state.

Well, at least we know that a general elections is upcoming soon.

No wonder Malaysian youth are fed up with party politics. I am too and am getting tired of all the virtual bar, coffee shop and teh tarik cock talk in cyberspace, and I am no longer young.

Oh! BTW, according to many YouTube videos, the world was supposed to have ended on 23 September 2017 but it's the 26th of September today. I wonder why the world hasn't ended.

    3. The "comet" is late, wakakaka

    4. The "comet" is late, wakakaka

    5. "The "comet" is late, wakakaka"

And when it comes, it may not be the right comet, so the world carries on, however shittily or scheissily.

BTW. 23 September 2017 is the Autumnal equinox this year and these doomsday predictions tend to centre on one of the two equinoxes which occur each year.

Nothing special about equinoxes besides the fact that the sun is directly above the equator that day and that weather changes usually follow afterwards.

They are usually of greater significance to farmers, especially in temperate regions.

    6. Since September 23 came and went without any incident, the latest revised outlook for Nibiru to destroy earth is October 21st...........

Jokes aside, according to serious scientists, there are many undiscovered objects, some huge , sitting beyond the orbit of Pluto called the "Kuiper belt" .
It is not impossible that due to collisions, gravitational push and pulls, some of these objects end up with orbits that come into the inner solar system...that's when things can get dangerous for earth.

  2. When anything concerns PAS,Azmin bring the dwarf has either lost his balls, voice or has a cucumber stuck deep into his throat. This dude is a pondan.

  3. I don't know why (but actually I do) you chose to lambast the Selangor MB over his measured answer to the Oktoberfest issue, while you let go totally scot free, the PM , head of the Federal Administration , over the Federal ban on the Beer Festival in KL.

It should be made clear Oktoberfest is already widely celebrated in Selangor.

There was a very well supported Oktoberfest function 2016 in 1Utama - which I personally attended , and it is scheduled again this year.

Many pubs and other outlets that sell beer openly promote Oktoberfest, and there have never been any problems.

There are stricter controls to holding the event in public areas, and there have been strong objections to events in heavily-Malay areas like Shah Alam.

PJ Utara (1Utama) , PJ Selatan (Sunway Pyramid, Summit), Damansara (the Curve) , no problem with Oktoberfest . To me that's sensible.

Azmin just said relevant laws have to be followed, I'm not sure why you need to condemn him for that.

    1. don't trust nor like Azmin especially more so since he started sucking PAS

    2. awang selamat accuse azmin bowing to dap, while kt accuse azmin sucking pas, both on the same subject. i beleve this is how dedak eater work.

  4. kt

is the knot in your brief agitating you

in the run up to the next election no sensible muslim politician would want to stick their neck out to pander the non muslims especially on religious issues, that is the reality of malay politics

let pas and umno rachet up religious issues, I would say it's good if you know what I mean, infact I'm hoping they would officially declare a tie up instead of misleading and manipulating their bn partners

let them display their bigotry and ketuanan I'm off to my local kopi tiam for a refreshing beer

  5. where in alquran that says alcohol (intoxicant) is haram (prohibited)

    1. Al Baqarah 219
      An Nisa 43
      Al Ma'idah 90-91

    2. 1) Al Baqarah 219 (SAHIH INTERNATIONAL)

They ask you about wine and gambling. Say, "In them is great sin and [yet, some] benefit for people. But their sin is greater than their benefit." And they ask you what they should spend. Say, "The excess [beyond needs]." Thus Allah makes clear to you the verses [of revelation] that you might give thought.

      2) An Nisa 43 (SAHIH INTERNATIONAL)

O you who have believed, do not approach prayer while you are intoxicated until you know what you are saying or in a state of janabah, except those passing through [a place of prayer], until you have washed [your whole body]. And if you are ill or on a journey or one of you comes from the place of relieving himself or you have contacted women and find no water, then seek clean earth and wipe over your faces and your hands [with it]. Indeed, Allah is ever Pardoning and Forgiving.

      3) Al Ma'idah 90-91

O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah ], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful.

My Hui associate, whose family has been devoted Muslims for generations & who is currently an iman in Ningxia, likes to ask these questions after I forwarded the post.

      1) Sin mentioned here is guided, thus good & benefit must be weighted carefully as that you might give thought.

      No Haram mentioned!

      2) Do not approach prayer while you are intoxicated IS good advice.

      No Haram mentioned here!

      3) intoxicants, .... are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful.

      No Haram mentioned!

In TRUE Islam the only things that r Haram r heinous crimes that r CLEARLY spell out in the holy book.

The Quran is far from being specific on what to “command” and what to “forbid,” and its earliest interpretations were much more modest and limited in the scope that they attributed to the obligation.

It is free to observe or not to observe them, no one has the right to interfere. The communion with Allah is personal.

All others 'haram' items r purely WRONG human juxtapositioning due to lack of understanding of the holy messages or udangs dibelakang batu (my words)!

BTW, the Hui has a much much longer history of involvement with islamic faith than the Melayu le!

    3. does the word haram appear in the 3 verses? are you suggesting that allah has forgotten to mention the word there? unlike in more than 10 other verses in which the word is clearly stated, e.g. 4.19, 23 & 24, 2.275, & 5.3

      remember, allah swt forgets nothing.

    4. You must double check and cross cheque with hadis and sunnah. Prophet Muhammad SAW did not drink alcohol. Ahlusunahwaljamaah mesti berpegang kepada Al Qur'an, hadis dan sunnah.

    5. Quote

      9) Orang yang makan hasil jualan arak

      10) Orang yang minta dibelikan arak

    6. jawab jangan tak jawab...!

      1. tell me apa itu ahlul sunnah wal jamaah.
      2. you claimed that the prophet saw did not drink alcohol but were you there during his time? oh yes, you must have read some ahadith that said so. now, let's see what bukhari & muslim recorded;

Muslim-3753: ''We were with the Prophet of Allah, and He was thirsty, and a man said: O prophet of Allah, Do you want to drink wine? Prophet of Allah said: Yes.The Man went to get the wine. The Prophet of Allah said: Make it Intoxicated. And He (Muhamad) Drank.”

Muslim-3721 ''The Prophet of Allah used to pour alcoholic drinks in a Bowel of Stone''

Hamzah drank alcohol and Muhammad was scared of him when Hamzah was drunk because he becomes mad. Probably that is one of the reasons Muhammad discouraged drinking alcohol. (Bukhari-V,4-B,53-324)

Mujahedeen drank alcohol in the Battle of Uhud. (Bukhari-V4, B52, Nr 70)

      interestingly, there are ahadith recorded by the same collectors claiming the opposite;

Sahih Muslim, Book 23, Number 4956: “‘A’isha reported: Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) was asked about Bit, whereupon he said:[b] Every drink that causes intoxication is forbidden .”

Sahih Muslim, Book 23, Number 4966: “Nafi’ reported Ibn ‘Umar as saying: I do not know this but from Allah’s Apostle (may peace be upon him) who said: [b]Every intoxicant is Khamr and every Khamr is forbidden.”

      jadi, mana yg betul?

      3. sunnah - simply means tradition or way and to the moslems it is the actions of the prophet saw. after having triple checked as well as criss cross checked i found the a recorded narration as follows;

‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) said that when describing the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). It is mentioned in the lengthy story about Sa’d ibn Hishaam ibn ‘Aamir, when he came to Madeenah and went to ‘Aa’ishah (may Allaah be pleased with her) and asked her about some matters. He said: I said: O Mother of the believers, tell me about the character of the Messenger of Allaah (S). She said: Do you not read the Qur’aan? I said: Of course. She said: The character of the Prophet of Allaah (S) was the Qur’aan. I wanted to get up and not ask about anything else until I died… Narrated by Muslim (746).

      According to another report:

I said: O Mother of the believers, tell me about the character of the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him). She said: O my son, do you not read the Qur’aan? Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “And verily, you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) are on an exalted (standard of) character” [al-Qalam 68:4]. The character of Muhammad was the Qur’aan.

question; could the prophet saw prohibit things that are not prohibited by allah swt or could his sunnah be in contradictory or inconsistent with alquran?

conclusion, pls do not ever force others to believe what you believe. at least try to convince me first by providing unquestionable proofs if you are true for i want the truth.

    7. Wakakakaka... WHO's holding court here???

Allah's ONLY holy scripture on Earth or must be cross-references with man-made additions!!!

How syirik can u be in the eye of Allah!

    8. BTW CK, the Judeo-Christian holy scripture (Bible) also requires 'guidance', 'clarification, etc from the The Book of Jubilees, sometimes called Lesser Genesis (Leptogenesis), wakakaka

BTB, Wikipedia informs us that: The Book of Jubilees had great influence on the formation of Islam. In the Book of Jubilees there is the very same concept of revelation as in Islam: God's words and commandments are eternally written on celestial tablets. An angel reveals their content to a prophet. Abraham's role in the Book of Jubilees corresponds to Abraham's role in the Quran in more than one way. The interpretation of biblical figures as prophets, is also rooted in the Book of Jubilees. Also numerology, the emphasis on angels, and the symbolism of anniversaries found their way into Islam, such as the fact that many important events in the prophet's biography as presented by Ibn Ishaq happen on the same date.

    9. I travelled many times in the Middle East before 9/11 (rarely after that). In more liberal Muslim societies there - Turkey, Tunisia, Syria, Algeria, there is a long tradition of enjoying the taste of an alcoholic drink (not getting intoxicated , which is not the same thing).

Don't know much of the intricacies of Islamic law, but in the 1990's , it was common for restaurants and food outlets in Istanbul to have beer and wine on the menu. People enjoyed the taste of wine. (The city of Istanbul is 95% Muslim - far larger majority than Malaysia).

At the time, in the 1990s and early 2000's the secular Turkish state considered whatever the status of drinking alcohol vs. Islamic law as a private personal matter, which the State will not interfere.

Now, I hear Turkey's Erdogan has pushed Islamic controls far to the right, just like Najib in Malaysia.

Laws and enforcement of laws don't just inevitably happen because of actions of authorities in the 1990's, they primarily happen because of actions of authorities in the Present - 2017.

    10. Wakakakaka... perhaps the omipresent & multitasking of the monotheistic god of the Abrahamic Faiths have been over-stretched to it's limit, so human helps r been deployed to ease the workload!

But, then that call into questions of the omnipotency inscribed to that Being!!!

      Apa tu!!!

      Fallacy solum!!!

  6. The origin of the Bible can be summed-up as follows: "A mere translation of a translation of an interpretation of an oral tradition"

There r many peer reviewed articles, pro & con, ancient & present, about this statement. The debate is ongoing.

But, wrt Quran, there is no such in-depth researches been diligently carried out throughout the muslim history!

Perhaps it has something to do with the wildy emotive responses of the ummat that hinder the 'progressive' understanding in this highly sensitive topic for the ummat.

Yr reference with The Book of Jubilees, sometimes called Lesser Genesis (Leptogenesis) is the works of the Christians.

So bolih ke ummat Islam accepts this findings?

    1. not work of Christians as the Oxford Annotated Bible and the Mercer Bible Dictionary conclude the work can be dated to 160–150 BC which was way way before Christianity came into being with the preaching of Paul

    2. So r u implying that the ummat was infringing upon the IP rights of the early branch of the Abrahamic faith? Pakistan u will be hanged with yr balls. While in bolihland the zombies r caught between going amok or waiting for higher-up instructions.

Oooop...sorry! The ummat considers all those earlier Abrahamic faiths r deviants from Islam.

But, then the Orthodox Jews, the Catholics & the Christians would object kaux2...

What a messy evolution of a monotheistic belief...

  7. BTW, if The book of Jubilees pre-dates the Judeo-Christian holy scripture (Bible), then where's the required 'guidance', 'clarification, etc from the The Book of Jubilees?

R there the same strangled holds, as if with some ummat &/or zombies, for the Quran mesti berpegang kepada hadis dan sunnah???

Maybe the modern day Christians r far more advanced in faith declassification than their ancient counterparts.

    1. whoa, I did NOT say The book of Jubilees pre-dates the Judeo-Christian holy scripture (Bible)

what I said (see above) was The book of Jubilees was not the work of Christians

    2. "not work of Christians as the Oxford Annotated Bible and the Mercer Bible Dictionary conclude the work can be dated to 160–150 BC which was way way before Christianity came into being with the preaching of Paul"

      Apa tu?????

Slip of mind thus pagi cakap malam lupa ke or acting senile sesuka hati?
