JOHOR BARU, May 13 — A Johor DAP lawmaker assured the public that the new Johor state administration is committed to the Pakatan Harapan (PH) agenda of accountability for the state and will respect the need for an Opposition bloc.
Newly-elected Skudai assemblyman Tan Hong Pin said that the yet-to-be-formed Johor state government will investigate the matter as it is principally agreed under PH that for an efficient government to function, there was a need for a recognised Opposition bloc.
“I know that many are concerned at what the Johor menteri besar Datuk Osman Sapian had said in his media conference after he was sworn-in yesterday.

“I believe that the matter of recognising an Opposition pact was taken out of context as the new menteri besar may have not been prepared for such questions by the media,” he told Malay Mail today.
Tan, who had also served as the former Mengkibol assemblyman under the Opposition last term, added that he believed that the new state government will also look into the concerns of giving development allocations to the opposition.
“To be fair, I was also concerned and had personally brought-up the matter with the menteri besar and was assured that once the state government is fully formed, they will look into this.
“Even though Osman may have said such matters in jest, I reminded all parties that there was no U-turn in our reform agenda and it still applies to us who are now part of the ruling PH coalition,” he said, adding that he considers the issue settled.
who the fCk is Brutus to "consider the issue settled"? |
What a guy. He swiftly defends his Pribumi Boss in Johor. Good on him. He certainly learns fast.

Meanwhile, over at Malaysiakini, it reported: Funding for opposition - Syed Saddiq disagrees with Johor MB (extracts):
Newly-elected Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has voiced his disagreement with new Johor Menteri Besar Osman Sapian over the latter's plans to deny BN opposition members in the state development funds.
"I humbly disagree. I’ve shared my views with the team. We will draft a policy on this.
"For Malaysian democracy to thrive, we need a strong and credible opposition to hold us accountable.
"Fund them, not because they are our opponents, but because they are the check and balance," Syed Saddiq said in a Facebook posting.
Osman yesterday said that he would continue the former BN state government's policy of not giving development allocations to assemblypersons in the opposition.
“Why should we give? It is like giving them bullets, you'll see," he had said.
He also said the new Pakatan Harapan state government would have to consider its finances before giving official recognition to the state's opposition leader.
On the other hand, what would Boo Boo do if he remains in the state seat?
ReplyDeleteSenior Exco member.........Is that reason? Of course, kaytee will say nothing. He is still beholden to Najib
Tan Hong Pin openly criticised the new MB's statement regarding stopping constituency allocations to Opposition (now BN) seats.

"'Harapan won't last beyond five years in Johor if it behaves like BN'..... Harapan has consistently fought for more space for the opposition. It doesn't matter that we are now the ruling party, we must have an efficient opposition for check and balance."
Poor desperate Ktemoc is selectively ignoring news which doesn't fit his prejudices.

DeleteKaytee.....is najib your bastard father? Same father different mother
DeleteVice versa
They don't have to do it so obviously, they can just do it quietly. If they can even quietly stop funding for their OWN assemblymen like Teh & those PAS assemblymen under them, then what else for those on opposite side?
ReplyDeleteWhen the constituents suffer, they will turn around and say to them; who ask you to vote the other sides? This is Mahathir era politics wrapped in new era shiny paper.
