PETALING JAYA: The department of Islamic development Malaysia (Jakim) has asked the Human Rights Commission of Malaysia (Suhakam) to explain a research project it was conducting on legislation to recognise a third gender.

This comes after Suhakam posted a research position opening on its social media, to study the feasibility of having legislation to recognise a third gender in Malaysia.

Suhakam said the research project would last for five months tentatively from the date of appointment, with the closing date for applications on June 30.

“Jakim has requested an official explanation from Suhakam on the matter,” the department said in a brief Twitter post today.

FMT is attempting to get Suhakam’s comment.

The commission’s research opening had drawn flak on Facebook, with several netizens describing it as a waste of time and resources.

“No need (for) research on this. This is Malaysia. Not western countries. The answer is absolutely no and no,” said a user named Ahmad Zulnasri Abdul Khalid.

Meanwhile, some netizens hit back at Jakim’s tweet, with one user questioning if the whole nation was required to report to the Islamic department now.

kt notes:

Both are right, to wit, (1) Malaysia does not need research on a 3rd gender, and (2) the nation need NOT report to the Islamic department.

JAKIM's power has to be massively cut, whilst modern Western gender culture needn't be introduced here PROVIDED organisations like JAKIM and its sisters (state) Islamic organisations are NOT allowed to harass the LGBTI. For eff-ing sake, religion and sex don't go together lah!

  1. In an Islamic State, the Sharia is the Supreme Law of the Land.

The Islamic Religious authorities have full authority overriding all others.

  2. Religion has everything to do with sex.

Procreation and the instinct for acts of procreation are in built into human nature and genetics.

If no rules and limits are placed to guide this, chaos can ensue.

Virtually All religions attempt directly or indirectly to subject sexual behaviour to orderly legal and social norms.

Nothing directly wrong with that, only becomes a huge problem when clerics try to use this to gain power.

    1. Katak-ised lies after lies to con the ignorants.

Many Chinese have more than the 'officially allowed' children quota. Especially those of the minority races & rural settings.

Many in the urban locations aim for the number encouraged by the state bcoz of COST (child raising) considerations. This is no difference from the statistics from many demoNcratic 'free' nations!

These f*cked katak have twisted the stories into enforced state abortions & rigid quota confirmation!

    2. Three-child policy (Chinese: 三孩政策), whereby a couple can have three children, means allowed to have three children.
What is more simple than that?

Or are you saying Global Times is lying ?
