I didn’t turn into Wolverine after vaccination, Najib mocks anti-vaxxers
In an apparent jibe on anti-vaxxers, former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak urged Malaysians not to believe in conspiracy theories and get themselves inoculated with COVID-19 vaccines.
“I’m grateful to receive my vaccinations two months ago. I understand a lot of rumours were spread that I got sick after getting inoculated. Some even claimed I was being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) for severe side-effects.
“It’s all untrue. Neither did anyone plant a microchip inside me nor did I turn into Wolverine or any other mutant after getting vaccinated,” he said in a Facebook post.
While the National COVID-19 Vaccination Programme (PICK) remains slow in Malaysia due to various reasons, the problem was also compounded with anti-vaxxers spreading false information on the vaccines.
Vaccines important for deter COVID-19
Few months ago, the Kelantan state government reported that thousands did not show up for their appointment, with the authorities suspecting anti-vaxxers having something to do with it.
On that note, Najib said that it was important for everyone to get themselves vaccinated to protect themselves against COVID-19.
Following immunisation, the Pekan MP said that he was able to conduct his daily activities as usual, such as exercising and performing his duties as an elected representative.
“Some question on why bother getting vaccinated as the probability of contracting COVID-19 is still there.
“It’s true but those who got their shots have a lower chance of contracting the coronavirus. Besides, the vaccine will protect us from suffering severe symptoms and prevent death.
“The point is, the vaccines will serve as a deterrence and provide the necessary immunity against COVID-19,” Najib remarked. – June 26, 2021.
