Najib: I repeat, give people discounts for power usage!
FORMER Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak urged the Government to provide Malaysians with electricity tariff discount to mitigate the effects of spiking inflation.
“This is the fifth time I’m saying this. Reintroduce the electricity tariff discount for all sectors, including domestic usage, like what was given last year to reduce inflation and bring down prices.
“The Statistics Department has confirmed that the decision to revoke the discount last year is causing prices to shoot up,” he said in a Facebook post.
Najib opined that inflation will become a big problem in the months to come if the Government did not act on it now.

Based on the latest Consumer Price Index, he added, prices of goods will usually soar within a few months, when cost of manufacturing increases.
“Manufacturing index spiked to 10.6% in April, higher than the 6.7% recorded in March. This time, it doesn’t only involve raw material or oil prices but also food production.
“For example, the cost for food production at the intermediatory level has shot up to 31.1% in April,” the Pekan MP stated.
On a general note, Najib said that it was nonsensical for the Government to force everyone to stay home during the lockdown, without reducing electric tariff rate.
“If people stay home most of the time, don’t you think power usage will increase? If you don’t listen to the people’s plight then don’t complain when the masses vent out their anger on you,” he quipped. – June 5, 2021.

Malaysia's power pricing situation would have been in much, much better shape if 1MDB had not had its forced sale of its IPP assets at a loss to raise cash for the debts that it incurred in previous dubious deals.

Why Jibby does not bang table about re-introducing GST that was trashed by Guanee? Is he admitting that GST is only a Fair-Weather tax introduced when he was FM/PM to fund corruption and malfeasance? Just imagine if GST is still around today, sure die lah.
ReplyDeleteKos semua sudah naik, barang keperluan, makanan, letrik dsb. Nasib baik GST sudah yilek. Terima kasih Guanee.
ReplyDeleteWas this why Jibby desperately needed to introduce GST? To pay for his letrik and air? Fortunately Guanee stayed in his own house in Pinhorn (the one without the kolam ikan ha ha ha) so no need to pay high letrik bill.

PM Najib's Response To His RM2.2 Million Electricity Bill: "... Are We Supposed To Dine In The Dark?"
On the high electricity bill at his official residence, Seri Perdana in Putrajaya, Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak says it is unavoidable.
"How to avoid such expenses? That is not my residence but the prime minister's residence. If heads of government come, are we supposed to dine in the dark? If the Chinese prime minister comes, are we to dine by candle light?" Najib said.
Najib described himself as the third premier to "tumpang (be a guest)" at the official residence and the cost involved could not be avoided. "I don't sleep in the main house. If we need to hold seminars there it is free as well," he said.
This Is Why You've Been Paying RM8,500 A Day For Najib's Electricity Bill
Electricity And Water Bills For Both PM Najib's And DPM Muhyiddin's Official Residence Was RM3.5 Million For 2012
Utility bills for the official residences of both Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and his deputy Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin amounted to more than RM3.5 million last year, said an opposition lawmaker.
Najib's Seri Perdana Residence Consumed RM2.2 Million; Muhyiddin's Seri Satria Residence Consumed RM865,000
According to Minister in Prime Minister's Department Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim, RM2.24 million was spent on electricity at Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak's official residence, Seri Perdana, last year.
Of this amount, Seri Perdana the prime minister's official residence, consumed RM2,237,788.13 worth of electricity, and RM311,174.25 for water.
Meanwhile, the total electricity consumption last year for Muhyiddin's official residence, Sri Satria was RM865,458.56, and 99,264.03 for water.
That Means Taxpayers Are Paying About RM8,500 A Day To Foot The Bills Of Both PM And DPM's Electricity Bills
Amid Putrajaya’s call for the public to embrace austerity, taxpayers are paying about RM8,500 a day for the power bills of both the prime minister and his deputy, a DAP lawmaker revealed today.
"If you break it down, this shows that every month, the government spends RM186,482 a month and if you divide it by 365 days, it is RM6,130.90 a day or almost RM250 an hour just on electricity bills. "For RM72,121.55 a month or RM2,371.12 per day."
