Woman who recorded Kedah MB's 'test drive' claims harassment
A woman who recorded Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor allegedly "test driving" a vehicle in Penang, which is against the standard operating procedures (SOPs) under the total lockdown, said she and her family were being harassed.
A Facebook user known only as Nini Siron yesterday wrote that she was under "severe pressure" after sharing the video recording of the test driving in Juru, Penang.
"It cannot be denied that the pressure I face now is very disturbing.
"I, my husband, children and siblings have been criticised, insulted and threatened. What is our sin?" she asked.
Nini explained that she was at Autocity in Juru - 9.4km from her home - to go to a shop in the area on June 5.
Following an exchange with Sanusi (above) over the recording, Nini said she lodged a police report at 10pm that day and had her statements taken.
"Based on what I witnessed that day, I stand by my principles. I believe in the justice system," she said in explaining why she recorded the alleged violation of Covid-19 protocols.
"My husband can't work because of the lockdown, we accept that. We have no income, we accept that. Hence, we want the Covid-19 pandemic to end quickly so normal people can work.
"When we see injustice in front of our eyes, our hearts ache. If so (people can flout the rules), when will (the pandemic) end?"
Yesterday, Sanusi explained that he and his delegation had dropped by Autocity for provisions at a convenience store, where he chanced upon a car dealer.
"We talked about his (the dealer's) cars and I asked to see the interior and sat in the front passenger seat... I didn't test drive the car. The dealer did.
"We looked at other variants but I didn't enter the vehicle... then I saw someone recording us," he said.
According to Nini's earlier Facebook post, Sanusi and two others were riding in a blue Ford Ranger Raptor, for which the starting price is RM199,888.
