PETALING JAYA: Tycoon Robert Kuok has contributed to the development of Malaysia, said Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.
"We all belong to the same family. Do not be angry at Robert Kuok. He has contributed to the nation's economy and the Tiong Hua clan as well," he was reported saying in a news portal on Sunday (March 4).

dei Azmin, why should/would anyone be angry at me? |
Azmin added that Malaysia would not have been as prosperous without the Chinese community, including Kuok.
"When we are successful, we do not forget the contributions by Malaysians, including the Malays, Indians, Chinese, Ibans and Kadazans. They are also Malaysians who need respect and their rights to be protected," he said.

I wonder why he described Chinese as the Tiong Hua clan? That terminology is Indonesian - just call us Cina lah.
Now, minus his long hope-for alliance with PAS (he still looks down on Amanah, wakakaka), Azmin has reluctantly but necessarily switch his wooing to that of the bloody Chinese community in Selangor.
Last week Sin Chew reported:
Azmin: The Selangor govt will identify high-demand strategic locations to build independent high schools for students. Photo courtesy: Sin Chew Daily |
"There seems to be a missing link in the country's Chinese language education because after a child graduates from SJKC, he might be forced to attend a national secondary school or go overseas due to lack of independent high schools in the country.
Education for all Malaysians
"The Selangor government strives to identify high-demand strategic locations to build independent high schools for the convenience of students."
Azmin said during an interview with Sin Chew Daily that while the state government is prepared to provide land for school construction, approval must still be sought from the education department.
"Many independent high schools in Klang Valley are facing the congestion issue. They need more spacious learning environment.
"And we are looking into this now," he said.

But MCA president Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai has described the Selangor government’s move to identify suitable land for Chinese schools as a “joke” and an “empty promise”.
Liow said under PKR leadership, Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali should have done what it wanted to do now after winning Selangor 10 years ago.
“It’s already been 10 years and a 1.2ha plot of land was only recently approved by Selangor for a Chinese primary school in Pandan, Ampang.
“We are still waiting for many more land applications for Chinese schools in Selangor which have yet to be approved.
“This is all just talk for political mileage,” he said after launching the community bulletin Sungai Besar Kini during a luncheon in Sekinchan here yesterday.
Liow said as the Mentri Besar, Azmin had the power to build more schools.
“If he really had the heart to do so, his party would have done this a long time ago.
“It’s a joke and an empty promise that he wants to look into identifying suitable land now,” he said.

Liow is actually quite correct in that Azmin could have built more Chinese schools if he was sincere. But alas, building Chinese schools would be last on MB Azmin's mind, until PAS abandoned him and he now needs Chinese votes.
While Azmin Ali struggles with his wooing of the Chinese in Selangor, and Liow negating everything Azmin has said about providing land in the state for building Chinese schools, our UMNO Chief Head Kicker, Minister Nazri (wakakaka) has a strategy to win Chinese votes in his own constituency of Padang Rengas.
Nazri's secret weapon to woo the Chinese (more elderly ones of course, wakakaka) is the 3-year old Aunties' Club in Paang Rengas. For more, read here.
Padang Rengas has nearly 30,000 registered voters, with its voters composition at 75% Malay, Chinese (15%) and Indian (10%). Thus every vote, especially those of Chinese and Indians is vital to Nazri. That the Aunties' Club is already 3 years old must have meant that Nazri has planned ahead, wakakaka.
Aiyoyo, the Chinese are really troublesome King-Makers, wakakaka, though not be their own design but by Mahathir-UMNO's design.
They have been Mahathir's most hated community in Malaysia, yet whose votes are much lusted by the Old Man (especially after 1969). They destroyed him in Kota Selatan Selatan in 1969 yet saved his ass thirty years later, in 1999.
how many new chinese school in pg in the last 10 years?
ReplyDeleteThe Chinese community in Selangor does not have a problem in Azmin Ali, Don't go around manufacturing one.
ReplyDeleteThe Pakatan State Government gives good support to Chinese and Tamil schools, financially and in other ways.
And , yes, DAP Selangor has a good relationship with PKR Selangor, one of the best at State level.
And NO, Liow Tiong Liar, ably supported by Ktemoc, is not correct because approval for building new or extensions to Chinese Independent Schools is controlled by the Federal Education Ministry. If you have a problem with that you need to bring up with your Boss, Ah Jib Gor.
Building new vernacular school is ALWAYS the fish bone trapped within the throat of the Melayu community.
ReplyDeleteMonsterball is correctly stating a known fact: approval for building new or extensions to Chinese Independent Schools is controlled by the Federal Education Ministry.
Two questions:
1) in those states controlled by the same federal govt party, r there any new vernacular schools been allowed/built - land & buildings included?
2) in those states NOT controlled by the same federal govt party, r there any new vernacular schools been allowed/built - land & buildings included?
Like always, this issue is a political football match ONLY can have goal scoring during election time.
Otherwise, the Cinapeks can f**k of!
"Nazri's secret weapon "...well Nazri really needs one this time.
ReplyDeleteHis Election majority in Padang Rengas is really small for a Minister contesting a semi-rural seat.
Next GE , he may not survive as an MP...maybe Ah Jib Gor will be forced to resurrect him as a Backdoor-Entry Senator.
