Are Police helping Dead Man Walking?

FMT - Sex tape affair wasting our time, says top cop (extracts):

by Robin Augustin

IGP Abdul Hamid Bador says the police’s attention and resources have been diverted from other matters

SEMENYIH: Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador said today that the sex video issue targeting Economic Affairs Minister Mohamed Azmin Ali is “not good” for the country’s development.

Speaking to reporters after an event here, Hamid said the country had been bombarded with stories about the issue since Ramadan, to the point that even children were asking about it.

“At the same time, the police are burdened with our mission to clean our own house and the city’s streets of crime, but then our attention and resources are diverted to issues which shouldn’t arise in the first place.”

As the issue had come up, though, the police had to investigate, he added.

The police has never been efficient in anything UNLESS it was or has been in the interests of the powers-that-be, meaning someone like PM (and particularly in Malaysia, a Royal).

Example, just look at the disappearance of Pastor Raymond Koh and Amri Che Mat and a few others like Pastor Joshua Hilmy and his wife Ruth Sitepu.

Do you think the police don't know what happened, where, when, why and how to retrieve them or at least their bodies?

Then there has been the eternal Kerbau about the murder of Teoh Beng Hock at the MACC building in Shah Alam.

the late DAP member, Teoh Beng Hock

Teoh Beng Hock perished after 'mysteriously' falling from the 14th floor of the MACC building where he went for MACC interrogation

he lost his young life on the eve of his wedding day

what a fCking hypocrite and traitor to Teoh Beng Hock's family and his memory

and just one lousy year after his pathetic pompous speech vowing:

Beng Hock’s death would be “in vain” if firstly, his killers remain free and unpunished; and secondly, the MACC is not held responsible and liable for his death and instead allowed to “go to great lengths” to participate in a “cover-up” of the actual causes and circumstances of Beng Hock’s death at the TBH RCI, with MACC officers telling “lies after lies” at the RCI.

I call on Malaysians to stand for justice and to make a commitment that they will not rest until the “cover-up” of Teoh Beng Hock’s criminal and senseless murder is exposed and the killers, including MACC, are brought to justice.

and having said the above pompous words, the loudmouth Lim Kit Siang went on to pally-buddy with the MACC

Even under a "New" Malaysian Pakatan government, the investigation into Teoh Beng Hock's death has been quietly transformed into a probe on 'wrongful detention' rather than 'murder'. To say the least, the naughty move has been disingenuous, duplicitous and deceitful.

But when the police want to, as were seen in the allegations of Anwar Ibrahim's acts of sodomy in 1998, wow, those men in blue went speedy Gonzalez. I heard that even a mattress was dragged into court, wakakaka.

Today the new IGP laments the waste of police time investigating the alleged Azmin Ali & Haziq Aziz video clips.

Yet in Anwar's sodomy cases, there was no such video clips but only accusations, but somehow the police worked effortlessly to kowtim him.

Asia Sentinel in an article said of the Police Special Branch, to wit (relevant extracts):

Mahathir as Prime Minister has always been close to the Special Branch. In 1987 he cracked down on his critics in what was known as Operation Lalang, rounding up more than 100 politicians, social activists, academics, students, artists, and people seen as being critical of the government.

The prime minister’s hold over the unit is just as strong today with his staunch ally Abdul Hamid Bador, the newly appointed IGP. Mahathir in support of the SB was dismissive of Suhakam’s findings about the abduction of Pastor Koh. [...]

Rather than use sodomy to destroy an adversary of Mahathir, ironically the SB is now using misinformation dissemination, aka ‘deepfake’ to protect a Mahathir ally.

Wakakaka.

The SB is now
[once again] in the hands of a person who has used it before to blackmail, silence, incarcerate, and detain his critics. If Malaysia aspires to be a true democracy, then the SB is totally out of control. [...]

Under Mahathir the SB is even more powerful now than it was under the last BN Government.

... which brings us to what the IGP has been claiming to be a waste of precious police time, investigating the sex videos allegedly involving Azmin Ali, which he (IGP) said is “not good” for the country’s development."

Wow, the new IGP is someone concerned that certain types of investigations being wasteful of police time is “not good” for the country’s development."

But the latest development involving the Azmin Ali porn video is also very interesting because the video clips are far far far more than the relatively paltry evidence on which Anwar Ibrahim was accused of in his times, thus I wasn't surprised to read that the man himself (Anwar) said:

“The investigations are under the purview of the police. There are two phases: Is the video genuine, and who was the one who spread it."

“The people want to know these two aspects.”

But poor Azmin Ali on his own knows political career-wise, he has been a 'Dead Man walking' once those videos emerged, and in incremental stages too.

But Mahathir still needs Azmin, at least to partially neutralise and intimidate Anwar from moving against the Big Kahuna. Thus Azmin at this stage must be protected at all costs, and as a blogger puts it rather sweetly, if necessary, put on life support, yes a reminder, not for poor Azmin's benefit but for the benefit of Mahathir.

Azmin can and will be allowed to fall once the powers-that-be deems the timing is appropriate. That's the cruelty, selfishness and monstrosity of politics.

Thus in today's Malaysiakini's Don't hide behind Dr M, PKR deputy minister tells leaders implicated in scandals, Deputy Primary Industries Minister Shamsul Iskandar, who is also PKR Information Chief, trained his guns on police investigations into the matter.

“The authorities should focus on the main case (authenticity of the video) instead of appearing to believe the allegation of a political plot to topple a certain individual,” he told Malaysiakini.

Police must not be seen as protecting someone powerful.

In his earlier statement, Shamsul claimed that people have become suspicious with the police focussing on the circulation of the sex video instead of whether it is authentic.

“This (suspicion) should be a reminder that the people still doubt the independence of enforcement agencies despite the change of government more than a year ago.
“This doubt (in enforcement agencies) will become worse when the authorities are perceived or suspected of conducting investigations with the aim of protecting a powerful individual.

Wakakaka.

Behind all this hidden facade of seriousness shown by everyone, how come all the politicians seems to be laughing except AA and his Dwarfs faction?

Those really laughing loudly which meets their own political agenda in this case seems to be:

    1. TDM and PPBM

    2. DSAI and the Cats factions.

    3. LKS and DAP.

    4. Ahjibkor and UMNO/BN.

    5. Hadi Bawang and PAS

In fact practically every politician except AA and his Dwarf faction.

So, the IGP probably follow the majority who are laughing to keep the musical chair game going.
