ADUN SPEAKS | Calling for stop to temple demolitions near impossible
by P Ramasamy
Kedah Menteri Besar Muhammed Sanusi Mohd Nor is up to his nonsense again. When some Hindu groups requested the Kedah government to guarantee that no more temples be demolished, Sanusi threatened further action on illegal temples.
In fact, he said that either the illegal Hindu temples be removed by their own members or be prepared for demolition.
For Sanusi, there is no compromise on this matter. Nevermind that there are thousands of illegal buildings, illegal stalls and many others. For him, there are only illegal Hindu temples and nothing else.
This is the number one man in Kedah, supposedly representing all races, despite being a member of Islamist party PAS. Since PAS has not taken any action to reprimand him for his various preposterous remarks, does this mean that his party condones his deeds?
He seems to be targeting Hindu temples in the name of illegality as Hindus are numerically inferior, lack political representation and have an economic weakness, making them easy targets. But will he hesitate to touch other communities if they have economic clout or political strength? In other words, Sanusi is a big bully.
A PAS-administered Kedah seems to have little or no tolerance for religions other than Islam, as other religions and their places of worship are becoming targets for destruction, including Hindu temples located on private or state land.
Hindu temples that have existed for more than a hundred years will not be spared. Even the ancient remaining Hindu-Buddhist structures in the sprawling Bujang Valley might not stand much longer despite these structures being more than 3,000 years old.
It is silly for Hindu groups to demand a guarantee from Sanusi given his actions.
But yet, there are Indians within PAS who without shame condone and justify the actions of the PAS government under Sanusi.
If he can go to the extent of threatening to cut off water supply to more than a million people in Penang, then there is nothing to stop him from demolishing illegal Hindu temples.
If Hindu temples are endowed with land and sufficient funds, why would they want to be illegal? From Sanusi’s myopic perspective, Hindus in Kedah have nothing better to do than go around erecting places of worship on state or private land.

pas represent only muslim, thus even conman or pencuri is a much better choice.
ReplyDeleteMIC is a disgrace to the Indian community. Saravanan, Vigneswaran and Vell Pari should withdraw MIC from BN immediately.
ReplyDeleteSoon will come the Buddhist and Taoist temples in Kedah, then the churches, muhibbah-mah....ha ha ha....MCA how?
Evangelical Christians are not the problem. Try getting a piece of land or a permit for a temple or a church. Near impossible, hence the many shop-lot, factory-lot or tepi-jalan bawah pokok ones.
We have all along known that PAS is hell bent to ride roughshod other religions. Such is the extent of their arrogance that they know nothing will happen to them however they behave.
ReplyDeleteIslam as represented by PAS is a religion that turns the nons away from the religion.
I wonder what the PAS supporters club thinks of this arrogant behaviour. And what about the converts to islam? Are they proud of how PAS sully the tenets of islam?
