Malaysians are Jewish-like?

FMT - Study finds urban Malays fearful of change (selected extracts):

PETALING JAYA: An independent study on the possible voting pattern of urban Malays in five states has shown that they are angry with Umno, but not enough to make them reject Barisan Nasional in favour of Pakatan Harapan.

The research was carried out by the Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs (Ideas) ........

Ideas CEO Wan Saiful Jan said urban Malays were upset over corruption in Umno. However, he added, they were uncertain over whether a Pakatan government would support the Malay agenda.

The main concern is about the dominance of DAP,” he said. “There is a concern about the Malay agenda and the level of control PH will have on Islamic issues.”

[...]

He added that poor urban Malays were also concerned over possible changes to the Malay agenda.

“They are also feudalistic in the way they think. When they do not see successful Malay figures coming in droves with PH, they would not vote for change. In PH, they see only Mahathir, Muhyiddin Yassin and Mukhriz Mahathir as successful.”

In contrast, he added, Umno provided a sense of stability with its corporate figures, general managers in government-linked companies and other big personalities.

He said urban Malays were not convinced that Pakatan could govern well even though they were aware that it offered solutions to problems such as the rising cost of living.

[...]

Wan Saiful also said DAP and Umno fed on each other. The stronger DAP became among the non-Malays, the stronger Umno would become among the Malays due to fears over loss of the Malay agenda.

My comments in this post relate ONLY to peninsular - I leave Sabah and Sarawak to more knowledgeable bloggers.

Sad but it's a humongous truth that Malaysians distrust each other along ethnic lines, even amongst component parties in political coalitions.

The laypeople, fuelled by fear of the future and abetted by mistrust of race-based political parties and their motives, vote for each own perceived ethnic secure bases.

Thus the Malays vote for UMNO while the non-Malays, chiefly Chinese, vote for the DAP.

The Indians split their votes between BN and Pakatan (DAP and PKR), with very few for PSM or even less, PPP. Most Indians, it seems, no longer trust Hindraf or its many clones.

The alternative to UMNO for Malays has long been PAS but which is only attractive to the very conservative religious. The more-nationalistic and less-conservative Malays are in general lukewarm to the PAS' agenda which promises security for the hereafter but with not much for the now and then.

PAS' previous PR-era 'welfare state' might have been a winner, even with non-Muslims, but alas, PAS or rather Hadi Awang abandoned it for the implementation of Hudud with increased punishments allowed for syariah courts. PAS misses its only decent chance forevermore as no non-Malay will trust it anymore, well, not for the next 50 years.

Some Muslims might have liked PAS' religious agenda, but more than just 'some' Muslims would prefer the UMNO offer of material rewards now (thus security) than PAS offer of increased corporal punishments and only a promise in the unknown 'future'.

PKR and Pribumi are just different versions of the Mothership. Pribumi tried to capture Malays' attention by its deliberately racist name, hue and exclusively race-based membership, to show it is a very very Malay party, but with Mahathir there, it'll be seen as more of the same with him, the notorious Mahafiraun.

Thus why buy an imitation iPhone when the genuine stuff is just around the corner in traditional recognised packaging and doesn't cost more?

PKR is in fact far more attractive than Pribumi but only if Anwar Ibrahim is around to fire the Malays up with his manmanlai rhetoric, but alas ..... and his wife and daughter lack that Anwar-ism other than association with his name.

Maybe Azmin Ali can do the same but that remains to be seen. I suspect Azmin has his own agenda and style which may be better or worse than Anwar's.

For the Chinese, they have long lost belief, hope and interest in MCA and Gerakan, and in the absence of decent alternatives (Parti Cinta Malaysia? wakakaka) have now thrown their political lot in with the DAP.

It's only the younger generation Chinese, the Millennials (Gen Y), those with idealistic but inexperienced mindset, who had never experienced Mahathir-ism and follies, who would vote for Mahathir and his Pribumi cohorts.

These younger Chinese believe they know it all and, like TP (wakakaka), are aggressive and not bound by traditional courtesy, nor are sensitive to Malay, Indian or even Chinese feelings.

But in general, (older) Chinese detest Mahathir though being pragmatic (in contrast to Millennials' theoretical idealism), they would be quite prepared to live with the Devil if he can provide decent secure livelihood. But Mahathir is no longer in the seat of authority so what can he possibly offer with surety?

Thus IDEAS has been correct when it said DAP and Umno fed on each other. The stronger DAP became among the non-Malays, the stronger Umno would become among the Malays due to fears over loss of the Malay agenda.

And of course vice versa.

Wakakaka, does that mean UMNO needs DAP to survive, like Israel needs Palestine to suck more billions off the USA?

We Malaysians are all Jewish-like, finding comfort in our own racial ghettos, both by fear and by choice.

  2. Oh...I dearly wish Malaysians were more Jewish-like. A lot of Malaysia's problems and weaknesses would be solved or at least minimised.

The Jews that I have dealt with personally have

    a) Very Strong work ethic. Success is seen as a personal responsibility and hard work a necessary ingredient

    b) Thrift and financial prudence. The parsimony and penny-pinching of traditional Jewish families is a standing joke among Christians, but true.

    c) Tremendous respect, almost reverence for education and knowledge. Jewish parents have been willing to save and scrape to send their children through College.

Albert Einstein, Robert Oppenheimer, Edward Teller, Wolgang Pauli, Neils Bohr, Leo Szilard, John Von Neumann, Richard Feynmann, Theodore Von Karman...the list of stellar contributions from Jewish brains to the world of science is unmatched.

Theodore Von Karman was a major, major contributor to the science of aerodynamics, that allows modern aircraft to be scientifically designed instead of by trial and error.

    d) Strong , almost clanish family bonds and strict, disciplined upbringing. Stern Jewish mothers are a standard American stereotype , but there is a lot of truth in it.

  4. If anyone want to explore the current sopo mindset of the Melayu, one SHOULD do a deep read of the ethnicity work of

    安焕然博士(Dr. Onn Huann Jan)副教授,马来西亚人。现任南方大学学院中文系主任、学术研究处主任及华人族群与文化研究所研究员。

He has a clear & interesting research finding on the feudalistic Melayu psych based on his researches on Melayu anecdotals in Sejarah Melayu.

A must read for the sopo pupetters - newbies, wannabes &/or one-eye jacks.

    1. Saladin was a Kurdish, nowadays the most distrusted people in the Middle East. Also the largest minority ethnic group there without their own nation.

The Kurdish women's sniper team was frightening to the ISIS Jihadis.
There was a story planted, probably untrue, that Jihadis killed In battle by a woman do not qualify as Shahid (martyred for Islam) and will not get to allocated their 72 flawless Houris in Paradise.

The Kurds, brave warriors, have been Washington's most trusted allies in the war against ISIS, and the American's owe them big. There will be no support for an independent Kurdistan, but strong autonomy short of independence for the Kurds is probably doable and fair.
