Mahathir's sarcasms hide his inadequacies

Star Online:

Dr M should not have labelled Dong Zong 'racist', says Ramkarpal
By Clarissa Chung

PETALING JAYA: The Prime Minister’s labelling of Chinese educationist group Dong Zong as "racist" was “uncalled for” and “most regretted”, says Bukit Gelugor MP Ramkarpal Singh.

He said Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s remark would only aggravate the situation.

The Prime Minister’s statement came following Dong Zong’s protests over introducing khat in the Bahasa Melayu curriculum of Year Four pupils in schools.

“Instead of allaying the concerns of Dong Zong on the khat issue, calling it racist will only distance it from any compromise or negotiations that should be had by all stakeholders on the matter.

“Dong Zong’s concerns over the khat issue should not be brushed aside as such concerns are not unfounded and possibly represented a large section of the Chinese community on the issue.

“That there is dissatisfaction over the matter on the ground is a fact and cannot be taken lightly, ” Ramkarpal said in a statement on Monday (Aug 12).

He added that any disagreement should be communicated in a rational manner and via proper dialogue sessions.

“If there are any valid grounds to disagree with Dong Zong, they should be rationally argued and its concerns should not be dismissed on account of racism."

For donkey years, it has been Mahathir's usual defence when he could NOT properly answer a legitimate question nor response adequately to any reasonable remark made against him or his imperial wishes.

Note how he sarcastically said of Charles Santiago expressing concern that the prime minister had been making unilateral decisions and stating:

"Currently, it looks like there is too much power in the hands of the prime minister and so this power needs to be shared equally amongst all the component parties."

He said he will refer to Santiago for advice the next time he wants to issue a policy since Santiago was his equal, stating bitterly:

"In future, when I make a decision, I can ask Santiago whether he agrees or not.

"If he does not agree, then I won't do it. I will get his opinion because he is equal to me"

That's supposed to be the intelligent response of a PM of a democratic nation?

Maybe we should reconsider allowing such an 94-year old man to be the nation's PM.

Then, when Ronnie Liu challenged Mahathir's argument that closing Lynas down may discourage investors, the Old Man was again sarcastic, reciting the same old tired story, that he will consult Ronnie the next time.

Why, because he could NOT satisfactorily answer Ronnie's succinct riposte.

Some others have also questioned Mahathir's kerbau about chasing investors away by pointing out that his treatment of Forest City in Johor militated against the PM's own words for Lynas.

MM Online reported in PM practising ‘double standards’ on Forest City (extracts):

JOHOR BARU, Aug 9 — The Johor youth chamber Dewan Muda Johor (DMJ) today alleged that Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is practising “double standards” when it came to Lynas Corp, compared to the Forest City project.

Its member Darren Lai Chai En said the prime minister has in the past opposed the China-linked Forest City, as if it does not benefit the country at all.

“But now it does not think Lynas can be stopped because the country is at risk of losing foreign investors,” Lai said in a statement.

“If in the Lynas issue, Dr Mahathir is worried about attracting investors if is closed, then in the Forest City project he should take the same approach to provide similar co-operation to keep the project going and to generate income in boosting the country’s economy.

“Otherwise, it will give a bad perception to foreign investors, especially those from China, about the Malaysian government’s attitude towards treating Chinese businessmen coming to Malaysia,” he added.

He said this in response to news reports yesterday where Dr Mahathir was reported to have said Malaysia cannot force Lynas to leave Malaysia after having invited the Australian rare earth minerals mining company to invest in the country, just because some people do not want to accept the expert studies.

Lai stressed that the Forest City project’s return could reach more than RM400 billion compared to Lynas and create more jobs.

“Most importantly, when compared to the economic rate of return between Lynas and Forest City, the investment return for the latter is much higher at RM410 billion compared with Lynas at only RM1billion.

“In terms of job opportunities, Forest City also tops Lynas by offering more job opportunities for locals,” said Lai, adding that Dr Mahathir should be consistent with foreign and domestic investment policies and not practice double-standards, especially when it comes to issues related to Johor.

That's vintage Mahathir, dictatorial but lacks the competency, justice and reason to account for his one-man-show type of policies - in Santiago's word, unilateralism and in kaytee's enhancement of Santiago's word, 'dictatorial unilateralism', which alas, to English experts might be a bit of a tautology, wakakaka, but syiok lah.

Charles Santiago, Kulasegaran, Ronnie Liu and company should be proud that Mahathir lacks the substance to account to their challenges.

Mahathir needs mucho eff-ing for his 'dictatorial unilateralism', wakakaka, but I am afraid Lim KS and the top DAP leadership may be too alike the old-MCA to do what Ramkarpal, Sangeet, Santiago, Ronnie, Dr Boo and Kula have done, namely, eff-ed him, wakakaka again. They have lost their balls due to addiction of power which they haven't tasted before.

Once (the late) Lee Kuan Yew responded to Western reporters on how he was going to control the Young Turks of Singapore (in British and American universities), who protested against him and demonstrated their likely rebellion against his style of rule and the government he had, when they returned home.

Lee KY replied presciently (words to the effect): "Put them in a position of power and authority, and they would CONFORM to the status quo."

Wakakaka, hasn't this happened to Lim KS and many top leaders of his DAP?

Mahathir requires controlling, and severe controlling - it's not wise to allow him to continue doing what he wishes ever since he became PM.

He has, to wit, UNILATERALLY:

  • seized a disproportionate share of the post-GE14 booty for his own Pribumi people,
  • changed the Finance Ministry into an half-eff-ed FM and a brand new powerful Economics Ministry with control of all the money-packed GLCs (eg. Khazanah),
  • proceeded with Car No 3 against national and cabinet objection (publicly financed but which Lim GE keeps mum about or pretend not to know),
  • encouraged and enticed frogs when he said pre-GE14 he won't,
  • backtracked on so many manifesto promises which could have been easily fulfilled,
  • keeping the Education ministry for himself (and when there was huge protests, handing the ministry to his useless clueless macai, which means he is still in control of that ministry),
  • protected Zakir Naik against India's extradition request, but handed over a Thai (UN sponsored) refugee back to Thailand for lese majeste punishment,
  • implicitly hinting by his frequent sly remarks he won't handover to Anwar (despite his kerbau statements), etc.

But Eff, Lim KS shelters him.
