He said it may take some time for prices of other good and services to be reduced.
However, he said there were already noticeable price reductions in fresh produce, such as vegetables. “Vegetable prices have dropped by 50% while prices of poultry and meat, such as beef, have also been reduced,” he said.
“I was told that you can buy poultry at RM5 or RM6 per kilogramme. Beef can be purchased at RM30 to RM33, but tenderloin (batang pinang) is more expensive,” he said at a Hari Raya open house at the Seri Perdana complex, the official residence of the prime minister.
Salahuddin noted that essential items have dropped 30-50% in price.
OH MY GAWD, previously all these vegetables must have been GST-ed |
Amazing. I didn't realise that vegetables were previously GST-ed at 50%, surely one of the HIGHEST GST rate in the world.
But now thanks to the removal of the GST, the vegetables are 50% cheaper.
What an amazing revelation by Minister YB Salahuddin Ayub right on Hari Raya Day, praise be to Allah swt.
Like i say, i wonder how much money kaytee paid through malaysia gst. Thats more important.
ReplyDeleteKaytee can show documents that he has contributed 10k rm gst per year. Can he?
Yup, I just confirmed at the market yesterday, kangkung now 50 sen, previously RM1.
ReplyDeletewow - GST on kangkong was 50% - the minister has been fantastic in having that removed. No no the thanks should go to Mahathir and Daim, the real co-Finance Ministers
DeleteDon't play2 lah!
DeleteGST for vegetables has NEVER been charged at 50%.
Vegetables prices r seasonal, further subject to weather condition. Bad harvest, heavy rain ALL contribute to higher prices.
One thing for sure IS many petty traders have reduced prices voluntary due to the the feel good circumstantial influence of the ge14.
U should keep yr trademarked sarcasm to yrself!
aiyoyo, not me lah. T'was the minister who said so
Deletewere those veg sellers so shit scared of punishments they lowered the prices for their own "good"
Deleteso shit scared???
DeleteU wish lah!!
U probably didn't realize there r many eat for free special treatments given to rakyat after the ge14 win.
Eat yr heart out le, yr 'fitnah' is getting worst. Most likely due to mixing of the wrong crowd, lost of side income & pent-up frustration.
Tsk… tsk… sigh… spin lagi sampai had busuk!
Like rumpelstillskin till he finally broke his leg and disappeared.
DeleteAng mo fable but ang mo kauxai kaytee knows nothing. What to expect from this cheebye kaytee who is neither here nor there
Wakakakakaka. Kaytee's sarcasm thinking others are fools.
ReplyDeleteIndirectly, how much does labour, transportation, distribution, storage and other logistics contribute to the cost of the vegetables and food prices to the consumers?
The vegetables and food may not be GSTed, but all the other costs are all GSTed.
Even the stalls rental, electricity etc are GSTed.
Wakakakakkakaka.
small business with turnover of 500,000 or less is NOT GST-ed
DeleteSmall business with turnover of RM500,000 or less is NOT GST-ed but his costs were GST-ed. You are so learned don't pretend you don't know what they called the "butterfly effort" ler.
DeleteMy morning breakfast wanton mee with 2 "sui-kow" was cheaper by 60 sen compared with before 01/06/2018. We were so "uneasy (embarassed)" the poor vendor might have made a mistake short-charging us that we asked honestly and he explained it was really due to no more GST that his cost for the prawns were cheaper that he could afford to lower his charges which is more than 6% as compare with his previous charges. If you don't believe I can give you the location of the stall so you may ask the vendor yourself better still if you come to KL one day let me know I can show you the place and buy you a meal of the wanton mee with "sui-kow" and you can ask the vendor personally.
so prawns were also GST-ed?
DeleteSo cheebye kaytee....dont fart too much.....
DeleteShow us your document how much gst you contribute per year?
Jiro?
And your tax returns! Dont be like that cheebye donald trump with his fucking excuses
I wrote "his costs were GST-ed" I meant his other costs, including his cost of living. Okay prawns are not GST-ed but the flour producer uses electricity which he pay GST-ed, his packaging also GST-ed, although his flour is zero rated, you expect him to sell at the same price as before 01/04/2015? No way Jose! So the wanton mee maker bought more expensive flour and similarly his other ingredients also increase prices and you expect the wanton mee maker sell at the same price as before 01/04/2015? No way Jose.
DeleteAnd the chain weent on, pertaining to the sauces, oil and so many other things, many may be zero rated including the prawn, you really think GST has not affected the prawn seller and he still sell at the same price as before 01/04/2015? You really think zero rated mean no increase? You are naive lah!
(1) "! So the wanton mee maker bought more expensive flour ..." - why more expensive flour? why not diamond dust as well in the flour?
Delete(2) "You really think zero rated mean no increase?" - therein lies the answer
@Peter.
DeleteI live in KL. Do share that shop you mentioned.
John Hasan, the corner coffee shop is located behind Berjaya Time Square next to the traffic light, the same road as the Kelab De Vegas where your UMNO buddy Mr. Rizalman made headline by drinking coffee and singing in the karaoke not long ago, you can't miss it. But I have to inform you the food is not halal, when you go there let me know, I will watch out for JAIS, JAKIM & what not and alert you if you are still eating when they come. Wakakaka..........
DeleteThe fact is the way the GST was implemented in Malaysia generated a vicious cost cycle in the Malaysian economy. Combined with inflation in most international commodity and manufactured goods, it was a perfect storm.
ReplyDeleteThe previous administration could have mitigated this by implementing a lower GST %, to make it tax Revenue neutral.
But Najis was hard up to increase Government revenue to pay for Kleptocracy.
Where do you think the increase in Government revenue from GST came from ? Fell from the sky ?
No..from the pockets of consumers paying more for good and services.
were fresh food like veg, kembong, kerang GST-ed? were small businesses with turnover of 500,000 or less GST-ed? were gasoline GST-edZ?
DeleteTrying to argue the gst discourse with kt, is a wasted effort!
DeleteA wolf sees the red full moon & instantly starts howling. Its instinct automatically switching on W/O knowing why. Red full moom → howling!
Similarly, for kt - gst will not inflates cost of living comes what may the hidden taxations mechanism!
KT's understanding of gst taxation IS on the same level of his labelling of mamak's capital control as popularist!
Memang sai hei!
Bullshit! Vegetable went down by 50% while fish went up by 100~150%. What's this nonsense of giving with one hand, but taking with the other hand and both feet.
ReplyDeleteEven my daily breakfast of roti canai didn't drop a single sen after GST was zeroed. I asked the cashier why the price still maintain as the old one, he just sheepishly grinned at me. Sheer profiteering from the 2 faced business community.
You obviously didn’t get the sarcasm when Jibby in a faux pas tried to take credit for RM1 kangkung. Never mind.
ReplyDeleteHow could a reading deficiency monkey understands what lies between the lines?
DeleteBesides, monkey sees monkey does lah!
John will not get his virgins after life so need to release his precious mah
DeleteSarcasm my ass. PH politicos have shown to be not so bright "up there" with their constant disingenuous, often clashing statements and backslapping rah rah comments such as above. It may work on the rakyat simpleton minds, but it sure scared the hell off those investors. Tabung Harapan collected can't even counter the daily rate of investment pull out by them.
DeleteJohn.....you sure your arsehole is clean
DeleteThere are many reasons for price increases or decreases, GST only has small impact, if any, on zero-rated items.
ReplyDeleteBesides SUPPLY AND DEMAND we read of certain unscrupulous people taking advantage in the past, like monopoly of rice import (BERNAS) and tender-rigging of pharmaceutical supplies to Ministry of Health, which adds to cost of medicine and healthcare, what next to be unraveled I wonder.
Is this guy the PH ahmad mazlan?
