“I did not say three years,” Free Malaysia Today (FMT) quoted him telling reporters at a Hari Raya open house celebration organised by Kumpulan Maju tonight.
He reportedly said that he only wanted to “correct the work” that is being done.
When asked about his meeting with PKR president Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim earlier today, Dr Mahathir reportedly replied: “Nothing unusual”.
News portal Malaysiakini similarly reported Dr Mahathir as saying: “I didn’t say three years... but it is for corrective work.”
In an interview with US-based broadcaster CNBC yesterday, Dr Mahathir reportedly said that he “will not go beyond three years” as prime minister, amid the renewed spotlight on his succession plans for Anwar.
Quit yapping about becoming PM and do your job sincerely (extracts)
KUALA LUMPUR, June 25 — Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim should carry out his duties as an MP with sincerity instead of harping on about the so-called “political promise” to make him the next prime minister, Tan Sri Rais Yatim has said.
The Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) member told Utusan Malaysia that there should be no haste in becoming prime minister, as he said Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad only reveals to the public a quarter of his thoughts, while keeping the rest for “rainy days”, explaining that no one knows his true intentions.
“I have known him since 1973 in the present situation, those who are chasing to become the prime minister or fighting to take over the post, there will be a time where he will face an unexpected situation.
“Secondly, those who become the deputy prime minister will not necessarily become the prime minister. There are many examples such as Tun Musa Hitam, Ghafar Baba, and even Anwar himself.
“What is important is, do your job sincerely and let the process run its course. It is not smart to say ‘oh, it has been promised to me.’ That is a political promise, not a promise done by the commissioner of oath. To say ‘oh, I will be [the next prime minister], the matter has been set,’ I don’t believe it will be that simple,” Rais told the Malay daily. [...]
Citing Dr Mahathir as being comfortable with Azmin, Rais said the PKR president may be restless over the former’s decision to select the latter’s deputy for the Cabinet.
Rais added that Dr Mahathir could remain as the prime minister for one term to fulfil the latter’s aspirations for the country, as well as PH’s election manifesto.

Well, I told you Mahathri can NEVER be trusted to keep his words, and when shit hits the fan, he would always blame someone else - refer to my earlier post Mahathir will NOT hand over to Anwar, wakakaka.
Rais Yatim is what the (wakakaka) hated Chinese would call it, the Yang to Mahathir's Yin in dismissing Anwar Ibrahim's claim to the PM post. Mahathir provides the official announcement, and Rais Yatim translate that to eff-ing crude form to make sure all understand. But for Rais Yatim to tell Anwar off by those words 'Quit yapping' indicate the mandated disrespect to a PM-in-waiting.
The Old Man is going for the FULL term because he needs that to see his Car No 3 implemented, his sons looked after and his policies live in perpetuity. With the sex scandal hanging perpetually over his disgraced head, Azmin will be in 'hand chains' to the Mahathir Dynasty.
Kautim kaukau.
And what dares Lim Kit Siang say? Afraid Chye-Chye would lose his job?
And as posted before Anwar - Beh Chay Tian in which I had written:
As in the past, he [Mahathir] is known to be a person that believes everybody around him must be subservient to him and his intelligence.
Indeed he has brought back that ideology a notch higher by appointing himself (initially) as the Education Minister, citing that there ”are many uneducated in the country.”
Is Pakatan that void of a truly educated person to be appointed as the education minister? His justification for taking on the role as education minister is nothing short of undermining the capabilities of the other Pakatan leaders from PKR, Amanah and DAP.

After-note: after considerable protests, he grudgingly appointed Maszlee as Edu-Min but I bet he is still the puppet-master behind that dunggu, only allowing him a certain latitude like indulging in stupidities like black shoes and swimming pool, etc
The PPSMI has long been Mahathir's pet but sinister hobby horse, and it's now back. WTF does Maszlee know?!
We can see that the ”Mahathir” that he was has not really changed much. Everything seems to be decided by him and claims that all decisions are made collectively with the other parties do not seem to be the perception at this moment.
He now has complete control over things and even if Anwar wanted to come forward, it would be only possible if and when Mahathir allows or consents in the future.
Early signs are already indicative of Mahathir indirectly asking Anwar to toe the line or else anything is possible.
The delay in Anwar becoming PM will give more time to Mahathir to also strengthen his PPBM not only in numbers but also to give more political leveraging to Muhyiddin Yassin and his son Kedah Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir.
In politics, there are no permanent friends or enemies. What is unfolding before all Malaysians and the world could take drastic turns in the near future.
The probability of a power struggle among Pakatan government leaders, especially between PPBM and PKR, cannot be ruled out and ignored.
It may be such fated that Anwar may never be the prime minister of Malaysia.
Kaytee's note on last paragraph - Chinese have a saying, to wit,"Beh Chay Tian" meaning "Not destined to ascend to the throne (of being PM)".

Raised Yatim is in the Pribumi camp which is desperate for a path to keep the PM position in Pribumi hands. Else, as they see it, it is gone forever out of Pribumi hands after Mahahlthir.
ReplyDeleteSo what he says is just political maneuvering.
Yes we must listen to Rais Yatim who wrote in Black and White a 400 page PhD thesis condemning ISA and the government under Toonsie, now he is busily yappin defending Toonsie...
ReplyDeleteBersatu just hasn’t got the material. They are scared shitless. After Toonsie steps down nobody from Bersatu can challenge PKR to be PM. Muhyiddin is sick. Perhaps Rais Yatim harbours some hope.
ReplyDeleteMukhriz? Easy meat for his enemies, especially if daddy no longer around. And he has nothing to show from his years as Kedah MB, unlike Guanee who had a sterling 10-year spell as Penang CM.
DAP don’t need to say or do anything. Just stand by, play Sudaku and watch Bersatu and PKR slug it out. Sedikit-sedikit lama lama jadi......DPM.
The dalang behind the dalang behind the Azmin sex video is probably some desperate Bersatu member or Malay nationalist wanting to ensure the post of PM stays in a Malay party, PKR won't do, Amanah is unproven, UMNO can't even tie their own shoelaces at the moment and PAS is too right-wing.
ReplyDeleteBut DAP is quietly playing Sudah-ku in the corner, patiently waiting, Finance sudah capai....sedikit-sedikit lama lama jadi....DPM.
Ini-Kali-Lah...ha ha ha...
Wakakakakakakakakaka
ReplyDeleteSure gives a lot of hopes to the opposition parties who are against the current PH Govt. in hoping the PH coalition disintegrates and forced an early GE with the hopes of saving their Kleptocratic leaders/warlords.
Meanwhile, among the opposition parties, their own houses are burning down as more and more of their supporters are getting wiser/desperate in their decision to either continue to save their kleptocratic leaders/warlords at the expense of their own and party's credibility and trusts or to go for a complete overhaul and rebranding of their party's image to ensure at least a comeback in future GEs.
Many opposition parties members still pretend to be dumb (or maybe they really are) and hoping like Mat Jenins when the trust and credibility of their leaders and parties were long crushed and destroyed during GE 14 and continuing in a long endless stream of corruption and robbery exposes.
It would be a long shot to expect most Malaysians would even give them a second chance after losing the trust and credibility. The recent by-elections clearly shows those politicians who still retain the trust and credibility of voters will be given a chance to win and become leaders even if they are from the opposition in their constituencies.
As most politicians know, in politics, creating perceptions however skillfully or deceptively, you can never make it work once the element of trust and credibility is gone.
And no amount of even swearing, rhetorics or playing 3Rs can change that fact.
As for DSAI, he knows he can outlive TDM and become PM whether it be in 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 years time period based on the numbers he has and so long as his party PKR remain united and the coalition of parties remains the ruling PH Govt. after each GE. TDM knows too his own fate as PM rest in DSAI hands currently for everyone could now see "The Emperor has no clothes" with the "Ides of March" falling upon him anytime DSAI chooses. So, it may end as dashed hopes for all those Mat Jenins (whether in PKR or UMNO or PAS or BN) who hoped for a fallout among the two men.
Wakakakakakkaka
what to do, many hv to kiss tis dictator ass to survive.
