From FMT:
Questions over succession plan meant to create tension, says Anwar
KUALA LUMPUR: Anwar Ibrahim tonight hit out at the persistent talk over a succession plan which will see him take over the reins from Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
“Such questions are meant to create tension,” he said when asked to comment on the prime minister’s remarks at the 5th Bloomberg Asean Business Summit in Bangkok.
Mahathir, who is also the Pakatan Harapan chairman, reiterated that he would keep his promise to hand over the baton to the PKR president when he was asked about the matter in an interview.

Kaytee notes:
Mahathir said he need "2 more years or so" to resolve the national debt problem.
Anwar was a far better FM than Mahathir, so why has it to be only Mahathir who can solve the national debt? And WTF is Lim GE doing?
More importantly, what does Mahathir mean by "... or so" in terms of his desire to stay on as PM?
I think you are over-simplifying the issue to just one man (Toonsie) not wanting to pass power to another (Anwar). It's much more than that.
ReplyDeleteIt's Toonsie/Bersatu not wanting to pass power to PKR, which is not a Malay-Bumiputra party. Once the post of PM is handed to PKR it will never come back to Bersatu. Bersatu simply don't have the numbers or the brains. So whether it is Anwar or Azmin who becomes the next PM makes no difference, both are PKR members, although it was rumoured that Azmin could defect to Bersatu. But if Azmin defects he will lose the wide PKR grassroot support he has established over 20 years. He may lose his seat in GE15. Highly risky. This sex video is essentially a Bersatu plot to kill off PKR/Anwar/Azmin's ambitions (more Azmin), but Toonsie was not in it. More likely hidden hands within Bersatu.
Question : What does Mahathir mean by "... or so" in staying on as PM?
ReplyDeleteAnswer: A coming Due Date PM who is still hoping and trying to get the numbers required without implicating himself to be seen as nothing more than playing Machiavellian politics and not really a true Statesman for the country.
