SUNGAI PETANI: An IT analyst has been arrested for allegedly making “threatening remarks” against Kedah menteri besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor on Facebook.
Police said the 25-year-old man had sent a message to Sanusi via his Facebook page on Sunday.
The angry message by the man was in response to Sanusi’s remarks on containers used to store bodies of Covid-19 victims. He is the fourth person to be arrested for allegedly making insulting or threatening remarks against Sanusi.
Sanusi had asked if anyone was interested in signing up for a place in containers made available as makeshift morgues for the Covid-19 dead at the Sungai Petani Hospital during a recent press conference to explain the Covid-19 situation.
He has since apologised for the remark, saying he had said it in jest.
The man in the latest arrest is alleged to have scolded Sanusi for making fun of the dead and to have mentioned Sanusi’s mother in his “threatening remarks”.
Kuala Muda district police chief Adzli Abu Shah said the man was arrested at his home in Aulong, Taiping, at 12.15am and brought to Sungai Petani for questioning.
Police later obtained a three-day remand order from the magistrates court in Sungai Petani to complete their investigation.
Adzli said a 39-year-old man who ran Sanusi’s Facebook page had lodged a police report claiming the comments were offensive and threatening to the menteri besar.
Adzli said the man was being investigated for an intentional insult to provoke breach of peace, abuse of network services and insulting behaviour.
The case is being probed under Section 504 of the Penal Code, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 and Section 14 of the Minor Offences Act 1955.

People oso got arrested for insulting Original or Modern Mao. Anything special about them?
ReplyDeleteWho, when have anyone been arrested for insulting Original or Modern Mao?
DeleteU?
Currently Mao has been termed 始祖兔 (the original pink rabbit) vis-a-vis the Peter rabbit. In the same mannerism as Xi been labelled Pooh bear!
Both r widely accepted as the anthropomorphic characters of the Chinese leaders in ALL China proper.
Yet, in the anglosphere where the purview of bashing everything CPC/China/Chinese these comical characters have been turned forbidden animals in China as claimed spuriously.
Perhaps, the pommies have taken offense that their beloved cartoons have been 山寨 (pirated) by the communists.
Likewise, those anmokausai myrmidon of the anglosphere read just feel as insulted.
Too bad, mfers!
Original Mao's WIFE Jiang Qing (as part of the Gang Of Four) was arrested, charged, found guilty and sentenced to DEATH, subsequently commuted to life sentence and died in prison in 1991.

A Chinese real estate tycoon and outspoken critic of President Xi Jinping was jailed for 18 years on Tuesday for corruption, bribery and embezzlement of public funds, a court statement said.
Ren Zhiqiang -- once among the ruling Communist Party's inner circle -- disappeared from the public eye in March, shortly after penning an essay that lambasted Xi's response to the coronavirus outbreak.
His outspokenness had earned the former chairman of state-owned property developer the Huayuan Group the nickname "Big Cannon".
Tuesday's verdict said Ren embezzled almost 50 million yuan ($7.4 million) of public funds and accepted bribes worth 1.25 million yuan, according to a statement from the Beijing No. 2 Intermediate People's Court.
It said the 69-year-old "voluntarily and truthfully confessed all his crimes", and would not appeal the court's decision.
He was also fined 4.2 million yuan ($620,000).

Trying yr hand at fluid England?
Or just simply fart even when the real message was clearly been quoted & yet curry flavoured?
Next time do choose a c&p fart with a more ambiguous content to sustain yr foul gaseous lah.
BTW, haven't u come across the crimes been committed by Jiang Qing (as part of the Gang Of Four)?
DeleteOr all yr western c&p readings have very good things to say about her?
Jiang Qing is a mirror copy of that kleptomaniac rosmah who can henpick jibby anytime, just that u know. She tried to be Empress Dowager Cixi reincarnated during the terminal period of Mao. She deserved to die a thousand times!
Blurred mfer, casts that into yr petrified neurons.
The more the police choose to do the bidding of useless politicians like Sanusi, the more convinced we are that the police are the lapdogs of useless politicians.
ReplyDeleteAnd the police always claim they act "without fear or favour". This really make my toes laugh.
