Ismail in charge but it’s a PN govt, insists Faizal Azumu
Bersatu deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu said BN only has 41 MPs while PN has 50.
KUALA LUMPUR: A Bersatu leader has insisted that Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s administration is a Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.
Bersatu deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu says this is because the majority of MPs supporting Ismail are from PN.
PN has 50 MPs while Ismail’s coalition, Barisan Nasional (BN), only has 41 MPs.
“To us, this is a PN government. Our friends on the other side (BN) have 41.
“We believe we represent a PN government,” Faizal told reporters after a meeting of the PN coalition partners, chaired by its chairman and former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
He was asked to comment on the description of Ismail’s administration as a PN administration.
Yesterday, two Umno leaders, Ahmad Maslan and Abdul Rahman Dahlan, objected to the use of the term “PN government” to refer to Ismail’s administration as BN is not a part of PN.
Earlier, top PN leaders led by Muhyiddin gathered at Publika for a meeting.
Faizal said they did not discuss Cabinet appointments at the meeting and that the coalition had agreed to leave it to Muhyiddin to discuss the matter with Ismail.
“The PN chairman (Muhyiddin) will discuss it with the prime minister and I believe the prime minister will make the right choice.”
Others at the meeting included PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang, STAR secretary-general Guan Dee Koh Hoi, PN Youth chief Khairil Nizam Khirudin, Bersatu Women’s chief Rina Harun and PN information chief Muhammad Hilman Idham.
PN has pledged to support Ismail on the condition that he does not include any leader facing trial in his Cabinet.
Ismail, who was sworn in as the 9th prime minister yesterday, is expected to announce his Cabinet soon.

ReplyDeleteWhen push comes to shove the racis partis Bersatu, UMNO and PAS will be united, to counter puak puak DAP, PKR and Amanah.
You'll see.
Like hungry hyenas, the factions are now going after the spoils.
ReplyDeleteIf I were the PM, I would just name the government The Rakyat Government (not fanciful but simple) and concentrate on what to do about the dire covid situation and the tanking economy.
But unfortunately, this is Malaysia, Truly F**ked.
