Which of the two former deputy prime ministers will become the prime minister? On the face of it, Ismail Sabri Yaakob seems to have the upper hand over Anwar Ibrahim.
PETALING JAYA: As the nation waits with great anticipation over who will be the 9th Prime Minister, FMT takes a closer look at the frontrunners and the support they reportedly have.
The Yang di-Pertuan Agong had asked all MPs to submit statutory declarations (SDs) on their PM candidate by 4pm today, and all complied.
However, since these ballots are shrouded in secrecy, the following projection is based on who parties or MPs have publicly said they are supporting. As such the final outcome may be different.
A total of 111 votes are need for a simple majority in the Dewan Rakyat.
Here is a list of those parties and MPs and where they stand:
Ismail Sabri Yaakob

Looks like all those who hentam-ed and mocked Tony Pua and Ong Kian Meng may be owing them an apology soon.
ReplyDeleteIf we had sat down to negotiate with Mahiaddin as they had suggested, no matter how bitter that might have been, we could have extracted so many concessions, and with GE15 in July 2022.
Now looks like Mahiaddin will win (via Ismail Sabri), but with ZERO CONCESSIONS. And GE15 will probably be dragged till mid 2023.
Ronnie Liu, Dr Boo , Nathaniel Tan etc....how now? If this comes to pass will you apologize to TP and OKM? KT too...? Ha ha ha....

Hush-hush talks not the way, Johor DAP man tells party
PETALING JAYA: A Johor DAP grassroots leader said the party should have revealed that two of its MPs were discussing reforms with Muhyiddin Yassin’s team before it came out in the open.
Dr Boo Cheng Hau said the move had caused a negative impact on the party’s image and further deepened the “trust deficit” between its leaders and the public.

Pua and Ong’s stand to support PM suspicious, says Ronnie Liu
Nora Mahpar -August 15, 2021
PETALING JAYA: The stand by two DAP leaders, seen to be leaning towards Muhyiddin Yassin’s bipartisan political cooperation offer, is suspicious, says a DAP leader.
DAP central committee member Ronnie Liu said Damansara MP Tony Pua and Bangi MP Ong Kian Ming should realise that they are national party leaders and not just ordinary elected representatives.
He said their statements had angered the people, who were disappointed with the failures of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government, especially in managing the Covid-19 pandemic.
Liu, who is also the Sungai Pelek assemblyman, said their stand was in contrast with that of Pakatan Harapan in rejecting the offer, which would have given a lifeline to Muhyiddin to stay in power and cause more people to suffer

DeleteThis Undi-Agong is a wasted exercise and not Constitutional. Whoever His Majesty chooses still has to be validated by Parlimen anyway.
ReplyDeleteAgong should have simply ordered Speaker to convene sitting immediately and first order of the day is not Agong’s speech but vote of confidence. Agong can sit-in to make sure everyone behaves ha ha ha…
