RELA's horrid lil' Napoleon bullying migrant workers

Rela man’s rough tactics at vaccine centre under fire

The Rela man was seen confronting the migrant threateningly and shoving him backwards.

PETALING JAYA: Netizens have criticised the rough tactics used by a People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela) officer in a viral video, which purportedly shows him treating a migrant badly at the Bukit Jalil vaccination centre.

The video shows the officer stepping in front of the man to confront him threateningly and then shoving him backwards.

The person who took the video, @sassyRekha, alleges that the same officer had been involved in other physical intersections with foreigners at the centre.

Netizens were quick to condemn the actions in the video and defend migrants at large, with @AidaActually recounting her own experiences at the same location.

“I was there yesterday and I can confirm this. ‘You orang apa? Orang Bangla pergi sana’ was just tip of the iceberg. They were yelled at, berated and disrespected,” she commented.

Another Twitter user, @rbatuladwiyh, said that they too had seen similar mistreatment at the Bukit Jalil vaccination centre.

“The way they treat foreigners is rough,” they said, adding that migrants were “screamed at” and “insulted”.

@Jai93zam was quick to defend migrants and pointed out their importance to Malaysia.

“Foreigners are the backbone of our economy. Without them, who will work at factories and construction sites and as cleaners.

“They have the right to be treated with dignity.”

When contacted by FMT regarding the video and other claims of abuse made by the uploader, Rela director-general Yahya Sulaiman said he had no information and would look into the matter.
