Umno assemblyperson quits Kesedar board (extracts):

Gual Ipoh assemblyperson Mohd Bakri Mustapha has resigned from his position as a board member of the South Kelantan Development Board (Kesedar) with immediate effect.

He said the decision was made in solidarity with Umno's stand and decision to withdraw support for the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.

"I have notified my resignation to Kesedar chairperson Nik Mohamad Abduh Nik Abdul Aziz yesterday.

"I will submit my formal letter after this. The chairperson accepted my resignation and understood the situation I am facing," Bakri (above) said at a press conference in Kota Bharu, Kelantan today.

Bakri added that his move was done out of love for Umno, without being influenced by other parties.

"The president and the supreme council's decision should be upheld with dignity.

"InsyaAllah, Umno will be restored through solidarity (from members) like me," he said, noting there are now two camps in Umno.

Umno's Jerantut, Cameron Highlands MPs reiterate support for Zahid (extracts):

Jerantut MP Ahmad Nazlan Idris maintained that he has not switched positions after renouncing Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.

Nazlan (above) was among the 11 Umno MPs appearing in a live press conference on Aug 3 to announce that they were withdrawing support for Muhyiddin, ending his majority in the Dewan Rakyat.

Muhyiddin is now scrambling to rebuild his majority ahead of September's Parliament sitting, during which he has promised to undergo a vote of confidence.

"I hereby state that I will abide by the Umno supreme council's decision on July 7 to withdraw support for Muhyiddin and the Perikatan Nasional government.

"I am restating this statement to deny claims that I have changed my position," Nazlan said in a video aired on Umno Online.

The lawmaker said he had already declared his position to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.

"I have made a declaration letter to the Agong on July 30 and I will surely keep my promise.

"I hope those out there will stop using my name to confuse people," Nazlan added.

In another video posted by Umno Online on Facebook last night, Cameron Highlands MP Ramli Mohd Nor also reaffirmed that he had withdrawn his support for Muhyiddin as prime minister.

“I confirm that I have withdrawn my support from the prime minister.

“I have been elected as the Cameron Highlands MP, and I will continue to be with Umno and I will uphold the Agong’s wishes,” he said, in the 48-second video.

Ramli was also one of the Umno MPs who had appeared with Zahid in the Aug 3 press conference where they first announced they were withdrawing their support for Muhyiddin and the PN government.
