Penang rejects CMCO

MM Online:

Penang latest to decline reopening of economy tomorrow

GEORGE TOWN, May 3 — The movement control order (MCO) in Penang will remain intact tomorrow, with the conditional movement control order (CMCO) to be enforced from May 8 onwards, Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow announced today.

The Penang lawmaker said Penang will not enforce CMCO tomorrow as announced by the federal government, but will do it gradually.

“Only companies that are allowed to operate during the first, second and third phase of MCO are allowed to continue operations for the next four days from tomorrow,” he said in his Facebook live message today.

He said the state will only allow selected sectors to reopen starting May 8 under the CMCO, and finally other sectors on May 13.

“Therefore, the MCO is still strictly in force in Penang tomorrow,” he said.

kaytee notes:

Good old Penang commonsense!

Note that Negri, Kedah, Pahang, Sabah and Sarawak also say no to reopening economy tomorrow, and as MM Online reports, defying
PM Muhyiddin's decision to implement the conditional movement control order (CMCO) and decided to keep the current MCO in place in the interest of public safety.

Maybe they just don't trust Menteri yang sendiri selalu sembu ... nyi di Sandakan? Wakakaka.

  2. Bayan Lepas is already jammed full with workers at industries operating at full capacity since last week.

If the CCP Virus is lurking in Penang, it will already be spreading like wildfire - there is no evidence that it is.

All that this latest continued restriction does is favouring foreign MNCs(the largest population being Bloody Yanks) and large local corporations.

The local SMIs and retailers, which in total employ a very large number of workers can eat cake until May 14.

The longer this goes on , the more will be permanently shuttered, with the jobs gone.

I'm just sympathising with the small local businesses, so many are Chinese Malaysian owned, which have little or no hope for aid from the government. They just want to get back to work.

For me , I have no problems.

As someone who has Zero hangups with having excellent business relations with the Yanks (wakakaka) , I have been back in business operations since Day 3 of the MCO.
