4 Malaysians Killed in Mecca Disaster

This is terrible news.

4 Malaysians were killed in the Mecca hostel collapse. They were all from Sabah. After those injured/hospitalised Malaysians informed Tabung Haji officers that there were other Malaysians affected, the Mina Muaissim mortuary was checked where their bodies were identified through identification bracelets worn by all Malaysian pilgrims. They will be buried at the Mina Muaissim burial ground.

The death toll of those victimised by the collapsed building has risen to 76.

  1. My condolences to their family and friends :( It's no fun to die in a foreign country. At least they were in the holy land.

  2. A long time ago, my ex-boss, a Malay was telling me about his parents going to the haj. He told me that his parents went around saying their farewells to everyone, with the expectation that they may not make it back. They believed that if they died in Mecca while performing their haj, they would go straight to heaven and it would be a good thing. From this point of view, at least these 76 people would go straight to heaven.

bob k, I think it's no fun to die. (period) as opposed to "It's no fun to die in a foreign country".
