CORONAVIRUS | The Kuala Lumpur wholesale market cluster of Covid-19 cases has emerged as the fifth largest in the country.

According to Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, there are 180 cases attributable to this cluster.

He said 100 cases were detected within the enhanced movement control order (MCO) areas and 80 outside these areas.

The index case for this cluster was patient 3,039 who was part of what is now known as the Seri Petaling Tabligh cluster - the largest cluster of all.

From the wholesale market, the virus spread to four other markets - Pasar Besar Seremban, Pasar Besar Bahau, Pasar Besar Jalan Othman and Pasar Taman Megah - involving 29 individuals.

Noor Hisham said that in view of the conditions in the wholesale market, anyone entering the market must undergo Covid-19 tests and prove that they are not infected.

"The Health Ministry is also seeking assistance from other agencies to determine other markets which have links with the wholesale market.

"District health departments have been told to conduct risk assessments on traders who visited those markets," he said.
