Kedah MB’s insensitive remark over COVID-19 deaths draws netizens’ wrath
KEDAH Menteri Besar Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor is back in the limelight and for no good reason, yet again.
In a press conference recently, Sanusi was quoted urging the people of Sungai Petani to adhere to COVID-19 standard operating procedure (SOP) strictly as hospitals were getting fully occupied.
But what caught everyone’s attention was when he spoke about COVID-19 deaths.
“We have enough containers for dead bodies. Whoever wants to join in, put down your names,” the Jenereh state assemblyperson was reported saying.
“I find it so inhumane of him to utter such things when more than 10, 000 over people are mourning the loss of their loved ones. He should apologise,” said user Kamalvinder Dhillion.
User Aeycid was more straightforward by saying: “Bodoh dan bebal, hina jadi manusia yang tak berperikemanusiaan. Vote him out next prn.”
(Foolish and reckless. A scum with no humanity. Vote him out in the next polls)
User Zain said that he found it appalling that a leader could be so insensitive when many are losing their families and friends to due a deadly virus.
(“We have enough containers for dead bodies. Whoever wants to join in, put down your names.” It looks like our leader is proud to talk about containers storing dead bodies. Dear Allah, I wonder if these people are even thinking about the problems that the country is facing.)
Sanusi has been receiving backlash from many ever since he took over the chair from Datuk Seri Mukhriz Mahathir, firstly by being demolishing Hindu temples in the state.
When castigated by MIC leaders for being high-handed, he scoffed at the former by saying that they should not be talking like drunk with several bottles of toddy, when they only had one.
Recently, he was found flouting SOP by test driving a vehicle during movement control order (MCO), with the whistleblower getting cyber-bullied by his supporters for exposing the menteri besar’s misdeeds.
Back to his latest “stunt”, user Gordon Chew accused Sanusi of being a failed menteri besar, who often made insensitive statements to save himself.
(He failed to follow SOPs. He failed as a menteri besar and now he’s making jokes about those who died from COVID-19. When a lady reported him for test driving a Ford vehicle and she got bullied by his supporters, Sanusi kept mum. Let’s see his political aide to save him from another dumb situation.)
User Jojo remarked: “Kena batang hidung keluarga sendiri masuk nama baru ada akai.”
