Praising Mahathir?

Naturally I have never like UMNO though a few of its MPs/ministers have been OK in my eyes, people like former Deputy Minister for Higher Education Saifuddin Abdullah (who was kicked out of Temerloh in 2013 by Pakatan but who is now in PKR) and Tourism and Culture Minister Nazri Aziz, PM Najib's head kicker and "water-tester"*.

* if you do not know what is a "water-tester", just ignore it - you are probably not a Malaysian, wakakaka. But anyway a hint: someone who tests the water

Now, while I might not have particularly like Mahathir because of his regular public antagonism against Chinese Malaysians - I'm convinced he dislikes Chinese Malaysians not only for political mileage but in earnest - I had once respected him as a long-serving PM.

But I lost my respect for him when he kept buggering AAB when the latter took over as PM. As a former UMNO man and BN PM, he was so consumed by his hatred of AAB, all because AAB has his own policies as PM and refused to be his political marionette, that he campaigned strenuously against his successor until poor AAB lost a considerable number of seats to Pakatan Harapan in 2008, losing for BN its 2/3 majority, all thanks to Mahathir.

While I was happy for BN to lose its 2/3, because my once-upon-a-time-idol LKS had achieved one of his decades-long dream, I realized Mahathir was an extremely selfish and self-centred man who was prepared to even destroy his own party just to merajuk and get his way.

Don't be mistaken Mahathir's campaign against AAB had anything to do with 'scorched earth' tactics because that would have been noble and for a good cause. Mahathir's behaviour then against AAB could be described as an Iago in Shakespeare's Othello

Iago manipulating Othello

And Wikipedia in its section on 'Critical Discussion' on Iago's character, has this to say:

In discussing The Tragedy of Othello, scholars have long debated Iago’s role—highlighting the complexity of his character. Fred West contends that Shakespeare was not content with simply portraying another “stock” morality figure, and that he, like many dramatists, was particularly interested in the workings of the human mind.

Thus, according to West, Iago, who sees nothing wrong with his own behavior, is “an accurate portrait of a psychopath”, who is “devoid of conscience, with no remorse”.

West believes that “Shakespeare had observed that there exist perfectly sane people in whom fellow-feeling of any kind is extremely weak while egoism is virtually absolute, and thus he made Iago”.

Bradley writes that Iago "illustrates in the most perfect combination the two facts concerning evil, which seem to have impressed Shakespeare the most", the first being that "the fact that perfectly sane people exist in whom fellow-feeling of any kind is so weak that an almost absolute egoism becomes possible to them", with the second being "that such evil is compatible, and even appears to ally itself easily, with exceptional powers of will and intellect".

The same critic also famously said that "to compare Iago with the Satan of 'Paradise Lost' seems almost absurd, so immensely does Shakespeare's man exceed Milton's Fiend in evil", clearly showing the level of evil his reading of the play revealed in Iago.
Oh dearie me, what then would our Malaysian Iago (wakakaka) do to those not of his own party?

Well, for a start he had incarcerated them before, including DAP's LKS. The late Karpal Singh was victimized and incarcerated by Mahathir's draconian regime three times in 1987, 1989 and 2000.

As we all know he is currently attempting to destroy Najib and UMNO because the PM refuses to follow his dictatorial instructions.

Let them kill each other. Why should we help such a man who has no iota of loyalty and who will turn on us the moment he is in ascendancy. Yalah, Mahathir has no loyalty whatsoever.

Let me remind everyone especially LKS that Mahathir was the man who declared in 2002 that Malaysia was not only an Islamic nation but a FUNDAMENTALIST Islamic nation (an unilateral arbitrary declaration which had LKS tearing his limited number of hair left on his head and which could be why LKS is behaving rather nyanyok today, probably due to "hare"-brained damage, wakakaka - see what LKS said here).

Agreed. That's why we can't accept your praises of DAP at face value, & we can't just trust what we hear from you

However, having said all above, I have to give credit where credit is due that Mahathir said something correct recently (for whatever sinister motive he has, considering he declared Malaysia a FUNDAMENTALIST Islamic nation), as reported by FMT as follows:

KUALA LUMPUR: Allah did not create the world only for Muslims, nor did he want everyone in the whole world to be Muslims, said former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad in stressing the need for better understanding and cooperation among people of all faiths.

“It is not the will of Allah to want the whole world to be Muslims. If Allah wanted that, today everybody would be Muslims. For Allah this is easy, He just says ‘kun faya kun’ (Be, and it is) and everything will be as He says.

“But Allah doesn’t tell everyone to be Muslims. There are those with different races and religions. Everyone can live together in peace and be friendly to all,” he told reporters during the Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) National Convention 2016 today.

Indeed, Allah swt didn't say that. It's only the ulama.

And may I add, likewise for other aggressively evangelistic religions such as Christianity, etc.
