KUALA LUMPUR, August 5 — Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) deputy president Datuk Seri Ahmad Faizal Azumu has been appointed as a special advisor to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
The Prime Minister’s Office said the position would put Ahmad Faizal on the same level as a federal minister.
“He will be responsible for advising the prime minister on matters of community affairs, community communications and socio-economic development.
“The office congratulates Ahmad Faizal on this appointment,” the PMO said in a statement.
The announcement came after the Perak chapter of Bersatu denied its chairman Ahmad Faizal has been appointed to the position.
“If it is true, then there would be an official announcement,” its secretary Datuk Zainol Fadzi Paharudin told Malay Mail when contacted.
Ahmad Faizal was previously the mentri besar of Perak, but lost the position after he lost a confidence vote in which Umno withheld support.

kt notes:
Basically a nobody in UMNO, he opportunistically hopped over to Atuk's nascent but growing-in-power PRIBUMI Bersatu.
When the Pakatan Harapan coalition seized power in 2018, and also won 29 seats in Perak, PRIBUMI could only win one (1) state seat in Perak by Azumu, an insignificant victory compared to DAP's 18, Amanah's 6 and PKR's 4.
But due to Atuk's unchallengeable (dictatorial) power in PH, Azumu was made MB Perak when it should have been DAP's Dr Aziz Bari or for that matter, an ADUN from Amanah (a la Nizar Jamaluddin) or from PKR.
It was a ridiculous promotion but DAP-PKR-Amanah didn't have the guts to question Atuk for outrageously favouring his own PRIBUMI candidate.
While as PH MB, Azumu had continuously betrayed his PH colleagues, preferring to consort with his old UMNO mates. Despite being exposed as a traitor to PH during the Tanjung Piai by-election campaign, no one dared to oust him.
As Perak MB he became a logging legend, as an tree-hugging-pull-them-down MB to an extent the then-federal 'greenie' minister Wong Tack disavowed any working relationship with him.
His most despicable and inhumane action as MB Perak was to re-possess state land worked on and cultivated by farmers for over 40 years. The non-Malay farmers were continuously (for 40 years) unsuccessful in their applications for land ownership but permitted by various Perak MBs through those 40+ years to continue working productively on the land.

And pray we may ask, why did Azumu repossess those land which the poor farmers worked on for more than 40 years? He gifted the cultivated land to his state footballers who won a title for Perak - some of whom had never held a changkol in their entire lives.
It's now history that he then jumped to PN (following the Sheraton Move) to remain as PN MB, but was eventually and by sweet irony ousted by combined UMNO-PH opposition. He fell out of office but lurked sinisterly around, still No 2 in PRIBUMI Bersatu.
Now, this Atuk-rised eff-ing $$S-whole has been, a la the ME Envoy, made into a Special Adviser to the PM, with status equivalent (or even more) to a Federal minister. Mahia's corrupt compose-like cabinet grows even more foul.
Azumu - a Nobody metamorphosing into Very-body. This is Malay Dignity in its Atuk-rised true colour.
And they talk of Malay Dignity!!!
