The Man who made a bald-faced LIE

On 16 August 2018, Azmin Ali said it was simply PM Mahathir’s prerogative to keep the CEP beyond the previously stated 100 days.

Azmin argued Mahathir made it clear he needs more time as there were many issues when Pakatan took over Putrajaya.

Azmin was responding to concerns Mahathir wanted the CEP to continue beyond its stipulated life span of 100 days.

Speaking to reporters, Mahathir was reported saying, “They think they have come to the end […] but I haven’t decided. I never said it is 100 days […] no, I still need their services.”

Note how he denied the promised life span of the CEP was only to be 100 days, originally promised because the CEP was not elected yet wield so much power to many's concerns. And we can't blame those concerns because of Mahathir's notorious past he exhibited when he was PM from 1981 to 2003.

Anyway, Mahathir insisted he never said the CEP was to be only for 100 days.

This brought Malaysiakini reader Mark Lall Shimpi to write in to Malaysiakini - an extract of his letter as follows:

First, let us call a spade a spade: Mahathir had, in fact, stated on May 12 that the term of the council would be for 100 days: “This council will only be around for 100 days,” he said at a press conference after chairing Pakatan Harapan's presidential council meeting.

Dr M’s statement at the time was also in-line with the press release issued, which read: “The team will assist in shaping up policies and programmes to achieve the 100-day promises that Pakatan Harapan had made to the people. Thus the lifespan of this team will be 100 days."

Given the above, Dr M, let's not mince words; the truth of the matter is you did announce a time horizon for the council. To today claim otherwise is at best a failure of memory and at worst, a bald-faced lie
.

should be "your" and not "you're", wakakaka

Omigosh, for a new PM to be accused of making a BALD-FACED LIE has to be a censure of the most shameful sickening stricture. Most Western political leaders would have been compelled to resign whilst their Japanese counterparts would have committed seppuku, but of course I know that Mahathir won't - he's so thick-skin he couldn't be bothered.

Having unbridled power and his own ways are what matters, not useless public approval or personal shame. None of his political colleagues except Daim Zainuddin has the guts, balls and spine to tell him he was wrong, thus turning his arrogant declaration into a BALD-FACED LIE.

Why only Daim? Read on guppies, wakakaka.

Then, today the MM Online reported in its Daim: CEP no longer needed (extracts):

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 20 — The Council of Eminent Persons (CEP) has fulfilled its task and is no longer necessary, Tun Daim Zainuddin declared today.

Daim, who leads the council, made the suggestion despite Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad previously saying he still needed its services.

“As far as I am concerned, the 100th day is over and the last day was yesterday,” the former minister said to a packed press conference that lasted almost an hour.

A re-iteration - We have just talked about Daim Zainuddin saying: “As far as I am concerned, the 100th day is over and the last day was yesterday.

100 days. Over yesterday.

If that doesn't convince you Mahathir had made a BALD-FACED LIE on the 100 days' life span of the CEP, nothing will.

It doesn't matter whether the CEP should continue or not as that's not the issue being discussed here, but that Mahathir has NO compunction about making BALD-FACED LIE.

I hope you know the meaning of the word 'compunction' which I have highlighted in green above and here.

The dictionary defines 'compunction' as 'a feeling of guilt or moral scruple that prevents or follows the doing of something bad'.

So tell me, what does 'NO compunction' mean?

Doesn't those two words, to wit, 'NO compunction' mean Mahathir has NO feeling of guilt or moral scruple that prevents or follows the doing of something bad', like making a BALD-FACED LIE.

In which case, shouldn't we be now asking whether he will give way to Anwar Ibrahim after two years as he has "promised"?

Not that we will believe him or his words at all, unless of course you're one of those gullible guppies, wakakaka.

  3. Why can't the Prime Minister seek out the recommendations from independent experts ?

The UK Government has Semi-Permanent Advisory councils on many critical areas.

    Science Council

    Cyber Security Council

    Law Reform Council.

Ktemoc will get a heart attack if a Semi-Permanent Council gets formed in Malaysia.

  4. This blog so often jumps the gun. Just like we got mad when we assumed Vincent Tan would make a bundle from his acquisition of T7 Global which has a contract for the ECRL project. Cronyism we shouted. Well today we just heard the project is cancelled. So we just wasted a lot of energy and time over nothing. Similarly, cool it with this CEP thing. Don’t jump to conclusions yet. I suspect most of the 5 members want out.

  5. Talking about lies, during campaigning for GE14, UMNO leaders were warning Malays that if Harapan became the government Lim Kit Siang would be PM, Malaysia would become a Christian nation and the Malay Sultans would be abolished. Well, 100 days after GE14, LKS is not even a junior deputy Minister, Hari Raya Haji is still a public holiday and the Agong actually donated money to Tabung Harapan.

    2. Yup, the most desperate tactic BN and various people who abhor Pakatan (ahem) employed in GE14 was the prediction that Malaysia would face disaster and implosion if Pakatan was voted into power.

      No such thing has happened.
Apart from a few misteps caused by new Ministers with no executive experience, the Pakatan government is well on its way to being an effective government.

  7. Another example of jumping the gun about Anthony Loke "writing off" nearly half a billion in AES fines. Now we know his decision is confirmed as CORRECT. AES was privatised to two companies and the major shareholder of one of them is a former EC chairman. Hmmmmm...

And Anthony yesterday declined to accept two smartphones as gifts at a product launch event. Less talk, more action. Good man.

AES system: Ex-EC chief denies conflict of interest
    Robin Augustin | August 22, 2018

Abdul Aziz Yusof says he acquired majority shares in firm linked to AES system after his retirement.

Former EC chairman Abdul Aziz Yusof says he only bought the Commercial Circle shares after his retirement in 2016. (Bernama pic)

PETALING JAYA: Former Election Commission (EC) chairman Abdul Aziz Yusof has denied any conflict of interest in the Automated Enforcement System (AES) issue.

This comes after the company in which he is a majority shareholder, Commercial Circle (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd, was named as one of the two shareholders of Ates Sdn Bhd.

Ates is one of two companies operating the AES, which Transport Minister Anthony Loke said yesterday made RM129 million over six years after being introduced in 2012. The other company operating the AES is Beta Tegap.

The shareholders for Ates are Commercial Circle and Traffen Force Sdn Bhd. It is understood that Commercial Circle owns 40% of shares in Ates, with Traffen Force owning the rest.

Checks by FMT revealed that Aziz, who served as EC chairman between 2009 and 2016, owns 60% of shares in Commercial Circle.

However, Aziz told FMT that he only acquired the shares in the second half of 2016 after retiring from the public service.

“I don’t know much about the AES. I acquired shares in Commercial Circle because it is related to the security industry. That is my area of interest because in the past I served as the home ministry secretary-general.”

According to Companies Commission of Malaysia documents, Commercial Circle is a licence holder and supplier of defence and police equipment to government departments, also involved in supplying and installing traffic surveillance cameras.

The company also supplies, maintains and services law enforcement equipment.

Yesterday, Loke also revealed that Beta Tegap is owned jointly by Dr Andreas Teoh, Mohd Yunos Othman, Rozana Redzuan, General (Rtd) Nik Ismail Nik Mohamed and Yap Kim See @ Yap Ai Lin.

Last Friday, he announced that all 3.1 million outstanding AES traffic summonses, with a total value of RM435 million, would would be written off. He also announced that the government had decided not to renew the contract with Beta Tegap and Ates.

The AES traffic cameras record motorists exceeding the speed limit. The operations of these cameras will be fully taken over by the Road Transport Department beginning Sept 1.

    1. AES was a Najib crony enrichment scheme.
The bulk of the fines would have gone to line the crony pockets.

No wonder Ktemoc was so upset with the decision !
