The two men were arrested at a house in Jasin, Melaka where some of the stolen items were seized, say police.

KUALA LUMPUR: Police arrested two local men who allegedly masqueraded as immigration officers before robbing and raping an Indonesian woman on Saturday.

Ampang Jaya district police chief Farouk Eshak said the two suspects, aged 35 and 40, were arrested at a terrace house in Taman Seri Asahan, Jasin, Melaka, at about 3am today.

He said at about 6.50am on Saturday, the two suspects, claiming to be immigration officers, approached two Indonesian women near a hospital in Pandan Indah, Ampang, Selangor, purportedly wanting to check their passports and permits.

He added that the two suspects then ordered the women to get into their car.

“The two women were taken to an area in Serdang and during the journey, the suspects took jewellery and cash belonging to the victims.

“One of the victims was then dropped off in the area, while the other was taken to a hotel in the Balakong area and raped,” he said when contacted.

According to Farouk, following the raid on the house in Jasin, the police seized cash, a necklace, a bracelet and the vehicle used by the suspects during the incident.

He said further investigations revealed that the 40-year-old suspect had 18 prior arrests for criminal and drug offences, while the 35-year-old suspect had 13 prior arrests. Both were also on the wanted list according to the police.

Farouk said the two suspects were brought to the Ampang court today for a remand application under Section 117 of the Criminal Procedure Code to assist in investigations

  1. Malaysian officials have a tendency to charge with obstruction of official duties, people who try to document their raids, as well as those who demand clear identification from people claiming to be law enforcement officers.

This case shows clearly why such actions to record the officers is necessary - there are too many people posing as law enforcement officers who are up to No Bloody Good.

  2. Sometimes they actually are Government officers, but acting illegally or abusing their authority.
