The good, the bad and the ugly

Malaysiakini - Karpal to Anwar: Step down as Pakatan head!

The dictionary defines ‘principle’ as:

- an accepted or professed rule of action or conduct, as in a person of good moral principles,

- guiding sense of the requirements and obligations of right conduct as in a person of principle.

Unfortunately Khalsa warrior and DAP spiritual guardian, Karpal Singh is (probably in his DAP collegues' views) 'lumbered' with a high sense of ‘principles’, encumbering him from indulging in questionable Machiavellian political intrigues or unethical politicking (as in encouraging political defections), unlike someone who would do whatever it takes to be PM.

But as I mentioned in my earlier post Karpal Singh demands Anwar Ibrahim step down as PR leader Karpal was particularly incensed that members of PKR and DAP had been mesmerized by Anwar’s snake oil pitch into supporting the cross-over of elected representatives.

Malaysiakini reported Karpal lamenting: "I am somewhat confounded how Anwar could have openly espoused and encouraged crossovers after the people gave a resounding mandate to the Pakatan on March 8 last year."

"In the public interest, and in particular in the interest of the Pakatan, Anwar has a lot to answer for creating the woes of the Pakatan now."

Many political observers have urged Anwar to consolidate on the March 2008 win, train the new MPs on how to take over when the time comes, including the formation of a shadow cabinet ... but alas, nope, that wasn't to be (it seems he doesn't give a f* on such democratic institutions as a shadow cabinet).

The King of the Frogs wasted a precious one year chasing frogs despite falling on his face an embarrassing number of times. This man is hardly leadership material ..... rebel rouser perhaps, but leader? Absolutely not.

Karpal has been succinctly correct to ask Anwar Ibrahim to step down ... which is why I consider him as the spiritual guardian of the DAP.

The Anwar snake oil bull - While I can understand anwaristas or PKR members spinning that there are two types of frogs, the good ones (those that lompat over to PKR) and the bad unscrupulous unconscionable ones (that lompat across to UMNO), it grates, grinds and geram-izes on my nerves when I see DAP people echoing those anwaristas spin.

Dei, tambis and tangachees, and mamaks (including Uncle Lim whom I respect very much except in his blind support of Anwar Ibrahim), get this immutable truth, please ...

... all frogs are frogs lah, slimy unethical unprincipled unworthy assh*les, especially more so in the Malaysian context where voters in the general case elect candidates on the basis of their political parties rather than as individuals.

The value difference between Karpal Singh and Anwar Ibrahim is that Karpal’s principles do not allow him to do the unethical in order to gain power – basically he is not that hard up, whilst, as we all know, Anwar will do anything, especially the unethical katak-fikasi, to become PM.

Anwar’s impatience is notoriously well-known throughout his career, now even more aggravated by his sense of sheer frustration at missing the No 1 spot by a mere whisker – yea, there’s many a slip ‘twixt cup and lip, and so he learned to his utter despair.

For an understanding of his psyche read my earlier posts:

(1)
The torment and impatience of Anwar Ibrahim

(2) The Achilles heel of Anwar Ibrahim

It’s not only Anwar who despairs. Many DAP supporters like me do as well, when we see with great chagrin how his snake oil pitch has mesmerized, hypnotized and stupefied some DAP leaders.

Re this lamentable drift away by DAP leaders from their hitherto strict, stern, steadfast and Spartan-like discipline, a combination of good and bad has kicked in – the good being the aim to defeat BN or to hold them to account, and the bad being a sense that power would be within reach the PR reach (rationalize as the ability then for PR/DAP to do the good stuff) – allowing some DAP leaders to convince themselves that political defectors may indeed be classified as ‘good’ and ‘bad’ froggies.

‘Good’, ‘bad’, it’s all f* deceivingly ‘ugly’.

Thank goodness for Karpal Singh, even though some of his comrades in arms appear to be distancing themselves from the Khalsa warrior. Sadly a case of kacang lupa-ing their ideological-ethical-principled kulit.

  2. Perak by-election as Pas MP die

Pas MP for Bukit Gantang Roslan Shaharum died suddenly today, paving the way for at least one by-election in the state mired in a constitutional crisis and saddled with two menteri besars from rival coalitions.

According to initial reports, the 50-year-old first time MP was cycling at the time to the pharmacy after complaining of chest pains. Police suspect he died of a heart attack after his body was found at a slip-road by passers-by at 11.15am.

  3. They should now ask Mohd Nizar to fight for the Bukti Gantang parliament side.

Imagine the peoples victory if Mohd Nizar wins.

This will be a slap in teh face of the Sultan and Barisan Najis.

Not uncommon to have MBs also as MPs.

Khalid Ibrahim and Lim Guan Eng to name just 2.

    Mohd Nizar for Parliament.!!!

If Mohd Nizar wins, this will b a real slap in the face of people like Najis Razak and all those blind waiving Daulat Tuanku idiots and if Mohd Nizar wins, we have the moral standing even for the Perak state assembly.

Pas says Umno wanted to form unity government

tmi-n.jpgKUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9 - One of the stories making the rounds after the fall of Perak to Pakatan Rakyat in Election 2008 was about moves by Umno to form an alliance with arch enemy, Parti Islam SeMalaysia (Pas).

Umno and Pas officials were willing to speak about this Umno-inspired strategy in private but no one wanted to go on record until now.

In an interview with Harakah, Pas' commissioner for Perak, Ustaz Ahmad Awang said that Umno officials in the state were stunned by the loss of power on March 8.

"At first, they offered a few Pas assemblymen millions of ringgit to cross over and join them. The first person to get the offer was the Pasir Panjang state assemblyman who is now the Menteri Besar. But when this approach failed, they asked Pas Perak to form a coalition government with Umno and Barisan Nasional. '' he said.

Ahmad claimed that Umno used agents to meet him and party spiritual leader Dato Nik Aziz Nik Mat to put forward this proposal.

"They used a few muftis, senior government officials, NGOs and also a BN MP who is my relative... a senior Umno leader who hails from Perak and a senior government official whose wife is from Perak tried to meet me for discussions.

They were accompanied by a rector from a tertiary institution in Perak. This senior Umno official is a Cabinet minister who spoke to me on the phone and asked for a four eyes meeting, '' he recalled.

The meeting did not happen but the Umno official and his delegation attemped to meet Ahmad at his home in Balai Kuliyyah Tasawwur Islam in Simpang Empat, Semanggol but failed to do so because the place was guarded by Pas volunteers.

He noted that even after Nizar was sworn in as the menteri besar, there have been moves by Umno agents to get Pas to leave Pakatan Rakyat and work together with Umno in the name of Malay unity.

The Malaysian Insider reported last year that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Abdullah Ahmad Badawi sent out feelers to Pas leaders including Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang, Nasharuddin Mat Isa and Datuk Mustafa Ali to explore possibility of Malay unity talks.

Abdullah and the Pas officials met several times but when the talksbecame public knowledge, there was a backlash in Pas with Nik Aziz, Husam Musa and others hitting out at attempts by some of their colleagues to bury the hatchet with Umno.

The talks also exposed the rift in Pas over Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's role and standing in the Opposition coalition.

The PM hoped to drive a wedge between the Pas leaders and bring about the collapse of the Pakatan Rakyat alliance.

  7. MP for Bkt Gantang died ? How convncient..Had such opportune chance felt to BN I bet the blogosphere and PKini will be teeming with stories of how the "dastardly" Najib plotted the assasination.

Coming back the Karpal the Khalsa King, yes, he has the guts and morality on his side to demand for the GSOS' resignation. Unfortunately LKS and LGE can only cry and whine like kids who had been stolen their lollipops by the very same kids they tried to bully.

I used to be sympathatic to DAP not too long ago but the actions of LKS and LGE has turned me off the party. Instead of keep to their principles and help the country progress the feldging democratic process, they chose to advance their selfish interests by entering into a pack with the two devils, one the green-eyed Islamofascist of PAS and the blue-faced corrupted and power crazy opportunists of PKR.

Now about this Bkt Gantang, don't be so quick to crow. Look at the strategic choices. For starters the seat belong to PAS and if BN losses there is no big deal. But if PAS losses, it means the end of Nizar's political career (though in my opinion it is already over). After offending the Royalty with his "mohon derhaka" and clinging to MB post like a stupid kid who lost his lollipop, he can be assured of revulsion by the Malays of Bkt Gantang.

  10. Another three in Perak to defect?
    By Lee Wei Lian

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 9 — Speculation is rife that four more state assemblymen from Pakatan Rakyat (PR) parties are ready to defect to the Barisan Nasional (BN).

The four names being cited in various text message exchanges are Keshvinder Singh (DAP) from Malim Nawar, A. Siva Subramanium (DAP) from Buntong and S. Kesavan (PKR) from Hutan Melintang and Tai Sing Ng (PKR) from Kuala Sepetang.

While it cannot be confirmed at this point if those named in the text messages are indeed going to defect, well informed sources in UMNO have confirmed that discussions are ongoing with five more PR lawmakers and that “there is a good chance” that three of the five will cross over in the next 2 months.

“The timeline of two months could mean it could be tomorrow on in 60 days,” the Umno source said.

The Malaysian Insider has also learnt that three of the Perak state executive committee positions have been left vacant for now and will be filled possibly only after the first seven have been sworn in tomorrow.

All of the two Chinese state representatives in BN Perak are expected to be in the state executive committee — newly independent Hee Yit Fong and Dr. Mah Hang Soon, MCA’s representative from Chenderiang.

Sungai Rapat representative Hamidah Osman has been made the senior state executive committee member.

BN is said to be looking for Indian representatives to cross over in order to make its line-up more multiethnic.

The death today of Pas MP for Bukit Gantang Roslan Shaharom today means that a by-election will happen in Perak and this will also be seen as a crucial referendum for both BN and PR.

  12. Thanks bro. I'm happy to find balanced, well thought and informed views on blogs like yours and SAKMONGKOL AK47.

It's funny to see such one sided romanticism and blind biasness, even ignorance festering away on blogs like Malaysia Today and even sometimes on MagickRiver. You can find some one sided crap here:
    http://mt.m2day.org/2008/content/view/17854/84/

Clearly this people are not in touch with what is going on among the neutral middle, and even have evil and manipulative intentions - to create blindness and loss of clarity.

Liars! all of them. You think they really care about the people, good governance, democracy, change and the poor? They must have a lot to gain and win personally.

I have my own evidence, that clearly shows that Raja Petra is also a biased Anwar and PKR symphatiser.
