PM: Govt ready to hold election if any party withdraws support
The government is prepared to face any possibility of a general election in the near future, said Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob today.
He said this included the withdrawal of support from any political party for the current government.
“If there is a party that withdraws support and the government collapses, an election must then be held afterwards.
“The government is always ready to face the election in any situation. If we remain (in power), we will determine an appropriate election date, as I have already announced that election will still be held,” he said, as quoted by Berita Harian.
He said this after officiating the launch of the 2022 Malaysian Agriculture, Horticulture and Agro Tourism Exhibition in Serdang today.
