Floods: Taman Sri Muda folks hold their breath as flash floods return

PETALING JAYA: A heavy downpour in the evening has caused flash floods to hit Taman Sri Muda in Shah Alam, Selangor on Saturday evening (Aug 20).

People took their grouses online, with some feeling frustrated about the repeated incidents every time it rained.

A video was also uploaded on Twitter, showing cars wading through flood waters behind the Mydin supermarket in the area.

"Mind you guys, every time there is heavy rain, Sri Muda residents start to worry, with some moving their cars to higher ground.

"It’s been almost one year since the floods last December but still, it feels that there hasn’t been progress to avoid such incidents again," said one Twitter user.

Another user said "My brother is in panic mode. Moving furniture and cars out!! Lesson learnt. Hoping for the rain to stop."

When contacted, Taman Sri Muda 2 Residents Association (Section 25) chairman Mogan Thangavelu said residents were worried about the flash flood becoming worse.

"The drains are full but the water is still flowing.

"However, because residents are afraid, they are moving their cars to higher areas," he said, adding that some have also moved their furniture to the higher floor.
