Disappointed with Putra joining GTA coalition, Hamidah quits party
Parti Bumiputera Perkasa Malaysia (Putra) vice-president Hamidah Osman announced that she is quitting the party today upon feeling disappointed over its joining the Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) coalition.
“I feel so sad and disappointed with the party president’s decision to join GTA and work together with former prime minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
“As a matter of principle and a mark of losing trust in the party president and its other leaders, who have aligned themselves with Tun (Mahathir), I wish to relinquish all my posts in Putra and leave the party with immediate effect,” she said at a press conference, in Ipoh.
The former state assemblyperson for Sungai Rapat said she would not be joining any political party but would continue championing the issue of Malay reserve land on a suitable platform such as a non-governmental organisation (NGO).
On Aug 5, Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) chairperson Mahathir announced the formation of GTA comprising various political parties and NGOs in facing the 15th general election.
