Cops arrest man caught cutting national flags in viral video


A screengrab from a viral video on TikTok showed the man cutting the flags put up along a sidewalk in Jalan Ampang.


KUALA LUMPUR: Police have arrested a man for allegedly cutting Jalur Gemilang flags put up along the sidewalk near the Malaysia Tourism Centre (Matic) in Jalan Ampang.

Dang Wangi district police chief Noor Dellhan Yahaya said the 41-year-old man was arrested after a report was lodged over the matter when it went viral on TikTok.


He added initial investigations showed that the incident occurred at about 12.35pm yesterday.

“The individual was nabbed as part of investigations under Section 427 of the Penal Code. The suspect will be remanded tomorrow,” he said in a statement today.


The 37-second video which went viral on TikTok, showed a man in a red shirt and a blue cap cutting several Jalur Gemilang installed along the sidewalk.
