Judge going against Constitution of Malaysia?

It is the function of a judge not to make but to declare the law, according to the golden mete-wand of the law and not by the crooked cord of discretion
- Edmund Burke

As reported in The Malaysian Insider!

Former Justice N.H. Chan commented on Justice Datuk Balia Yusuf Wahi of the High Court dismissing the application by V. Sivakumar, Speaker of the Perak State Assembly, to strike out an original summons brought by the 3 frogs, stating that Sivakumar’s order to declare their assembly seats vacant was illegal, as follows:

I don’t have to tell you how to judge the judge. You must know by now how to do it if you have read my articles in the Internet. You will know he is a bad judge if he behaves unfairly to one side as against the other.

It is your perception as a member of the public that matters and not what the judge thinks of himself. A judge who does not appear to be fair is useless to the judicial process. As such he is a bad judge and is therefore unfit to sit on the bench.

The other essential qualification of a judge is to administer justice according to law. That said, we can now judge this judge.

Article 72, Clause (1) of the Federal Constitution clearly states:

72. (1) The validity of any proceedings in the Legislative Assembly of any State shall not be questioned in any court.

Yet Mr Justice Balia Yusuf Wahi, who knew that the Speaker’s order which was made in the Legislative Assembly was a proceeding in the Legislative Assembly, dismissed the Speaker’s application to strike out the summons of the three turncoat assemblymen who were asking the court to question the validity of what the Speaker had done in the Assembly.

As you know what the Speaker did in the Assembly, rightly or wrongly, is not to be questioned in any court.

Isn’t what the judge had done by dismissing the Speaker’s application to strike out the turncoats’ summons,
not administering justice according to law?

The judge had gone against the Constitution of Malaysia which is the supreme law of the land.

What do you call a judge who has defied the law of the land? A renegade judge?

No ayatollahs for Perak please

Malaysiakini - PAS leader stands by 'Thai-style unrest' remark.

Much as I am a Pakatan supporter, by default of my preference to support DAP, I don’t think I am impressed by Kamaruddin Jaafar’s remarks that Perak could witness unrest similar to Thailand if the state assembly is not dissolved.

Kamaruddin Jaafar is the PAS secretary-general, and his irresponsible remarks can be considered as a veiled threat to incite the Perakians to civil disobedience, or perhaps worse.

That would not be democratic process, but ayatollah-ish.

While the Perak Sultan has been unhelpful by an unnecessary show of what former Judge Chan sneeringly described as HRH's pretend-power in dismissing Nizar as the MB of Perak (when HRH has no such power), ...

... the royal paradigm was apparent in, firstly, the palace over-ruling the Paktan Rakyat’s preferred candidate for MB, Jamaluddin of PKR, by selecting Nizar of PAS instead, ...

... and secondly, HRH chopping off Nizar at his knees (and undermining his authority as the State’s highest political representative) on the issue of a insubordinate public servant, and incorrectly too as pointed out by the Khalsa Warrior.

HRH, by choosing on his own accord to stray outside the royal preserves, has placed himself in the unpleasant non-teflon-coated world of public scrutiny and criticisms.

Incidentally, note that it was the palace serendipitous selection of Nizar as MB, which disproves UMNO's naughty description of Nizar as a DAP stooge.

Nizar doesn't have to be anybody's stooge because he could easily tell the Perak DAP exco's to f*-off and there was nothing the DAP could have done.

Be that as it may, what the Thais are doing is alien to our way of life for a variety of reasons - I won't go into it here. We have different societal characteristics.

And unlike the Nepalis we don’t have a cruel and arrogant Sultan of … ;-) ... Perak or HM the Agong.

Review Pakatan’s achievement thus far (but minus those 'BIG' bullsh*t's) – just by relying on the ballot box we have come a long long way. Let’s not f* spoil it by catching someone’s disease, namely, impatience, slime and an obsession for power even through illegal means.

PKR - Pakatan Rakyat's weakest link

Malaysiakini - MACC in no hurry to charge Fairus!

The news online reported ...

... contrary to current speculations that former Penang Deputy Chief Minister Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin (of PKR) could be charged with corruption sometime this week, a high ranking MACC official who preferred to remain unnamed, dismissed the expectation, stating: "Why the hurry to charge him? There is still a long way to go (in the case)."

Does that mean the door to UMNO is open wide for dear Fairus (assuming he wants to go down that way)? wakakaka.

Frankly I would suggest to the MACC to stop f*-ing around and go investigate Khir Toyo for his Disneyworld million ringgit shingdig at tax payers’ expense. Until MACC does that, it's just an organization at the beck and call of UMNO.

But back to Fairus and PKR in particular ...

I’ve often said that though PR supporters may believe in Anwar as being indispensable to the continuing cohesion of the Pakatan Rakyat, …

… his inner core members (those expelled from, or who had left UMNO together with him when he was expelled, to form KeADILan) represent the weakest link in the loose/informal coalition.

Born of UMNO, and unable to shed off their leopard spots, they succumb all too easily to the corrupting influence of power, money and indulgence.

Examples would be the Perak frogs, who were mainly PKR. Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi and Osman Jailu, the two PKR (former) executive councillors in the Perak PR administration, were charged for corruption last year barely six months into their term of office. They are now in the arms of UMNO ;-)

There was also some dodginess regarding the placement of a certain someone’s brother in the new Selangor government.

And the MB there also experienced a sticky situation involving some kerbau’s – am not sure whether that’s solved yet. But regardless of whether Khalid had been directly involved, I wasn’t impressed that his federal constituency in the Wilayah had benefited from the largesse of the state of Selangor. Whether legal or not, that’s patently wrong in every sense of the word and carries the bad odour of ‘conflict of interest’.

Mind you, I still haven’t forgotten the Kulim Wonder – I question this person’s suitability to be a people’s representative. He’s better off joining the staff of the Perak Mufti ….. or perhaps UMNO as some suggested he might bunk off to wakakaka!

As with the Kulim Wonder, Anwar Ibrahim is again tap dancing around with Fairus' replacement.

Penang has reserved a DCM position for PKR but the Great One has been avoiding making a decision, as if the problem would go away – hang on, it might, coz PAS has put in a bid on the slim possibility that Lim GE may favour the sole PAS candidate, given the new bonhomie relationship between the two ideologically strict parties.

Anyway, the two PKR candidates are Abdul Malik Abul Kassim and Maktar Shapee.

The Malaysian Insider reported: An indecisive Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and a split in PKR Penang could force Penang chief minister Lim Guan Eng postpone naming a deputy chief minister I tomorrow to replace a disgraced Mohammad Fairus Khairuddin.

Anwar has yet to decide between Batu Maung assemblyman Abdul Malil Abul Kassim and Sungai Bakap’s Maktar Shapee, the only two Malay PKR assemblymen apart from Fairus who represents Penanti.

Malik is the candidate everyone except Anwar wants.

I was discussing with a sweetie on why Anwar hasn’t been in favour of Malik. Perhaps it’s because the bloke is a mamak (a term in Indian meaning ‘uncle’, but also implying the person is an Indian Muslim), ...

... and Anwar may be allergic to mamak from his own bad experience wakakaka.

Muhyiddin Yassin fails to see the straw that broke the camel's back!

Three days ago, after the loss in the Bukit Gantang federal by-election, where the status quo of PAS holding on to that seat (since March 2008) was assured, DPM Muhyiddin Yassin pledged that UMNO would work hard at improving the voting trend of all races for BN candidates in future elections.

Sounded promising for Malaysian politics.

He admitted that Bukit Gantang showed the anti-BN tsunami witnessed in last year’s general election has yet to subside – in fact it has worsened.

He mumbled: "We hope this trend will not continue, but as we are facing a serious scenario, a transformation process has to take place soonest possible."

Presumably he had meant for the transformation process to start within UMNO itself, because he said:

"Although, we look after the well-being of the Malays, we are also fair to the other races, but some say that we are not fair. Therefore, we must act now before it is too late. We also need to support the leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak and strive to regain the people's support for Umno and BN."

And one day after his avowed transformation process, he continued on that theme, stating that UMNO and the BN have this year and the next to regain the confidence and trust of the people.

Malaysian Insider reported in Two years to regain people’s trust - Muhyiddin:

He said the primary focus of action during the two-year period would be to ensure that the leadership at all levels understood the new direction of the party and took measures to revive the party’s image and improve the people’s perception of it.

Well and good, BUT …

WTF, this morning as reported by the Malaysian Insider in UMNO puzzled about Chinese votes, Muhyiddin Yassin has veered on to a new direction, one seen to be blaming the Chinese for UMNO’s loss in Bukit Gantang.

No doubt he has learnt of Chinese support for the PAS candidate in Bukit Gantang increasing from 65% to 75%.

Muhyiddin claimed he is confused, perplexed, and puzzled, because after BN had poured in millions of ringgit to improve Chinese language schools, those presumably-ungrateful Chinese continued to vote overwhelmingly for the Pakatan candidates in both by-elections in Bukit Gantang and Bukit Selambau.

Money politics, pre-election bribes, Chinese cheats – he seemed to be saying, but let’s leave these aside for a while.

He stated he couldn’t understand ‘… why Malaysian Chinese voters continue to treat the Barisan Nasional with disdain.’ And this is just 3 days after he had pledged for BN to begin a ‘transformation process' to regain the people's support for UMNO and BN.

What has made him gostarn (go-astern) from his original proposed track, from realization that UMNO in its present (corrupt, arrogant, ketuanan Melayu) form was not palatable to the electorates, to blaming the Chinese for its political unacceptability?

And he made it worse by unfairly accusing the Chinese of grandiose scheming, that they have begun to think of themselves as kingmakers in politics.

There's no escaping the fact that his public musing has been aimed at the heartland, to convince the faithful to re-marshal beneath the keris-ed banner, by his fear-hate propaganda, reflected in his statement to Mingguan Malaysia today:

“The Chinese even though are a minority group feel that they have the deciding power because the Malays are split into three groups … In such a situation, they can decide the outcome of an election and this can be seen from the general election and the by-elections.”

“They think they have the power to decide. It is not only the Chinese but the Indian community as well.’’

Maybe the 5% swing of Malay voters towards UMNO in Bukit Gantang that noted Malaysian pollster Ong Kian Ming mentioned in his new Malaysiakini article Bkt Gantang: Lessons for BN, Pakatan might have given him a glimmer of hope, believing that the bangsa, agama dan negara formula could be the magic mantra to UMNO's future election victories.

Well whatever, my dear Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, that sure as hell wasn’t the transformation process you proposed for UMNO to start working on. And if you continue along this finger-pointing-at-Chinese for UMNO’s problems, you’ll need more than 2 years to improve UMNO’s image – certainly not by 2013!

The truth was, has been, is and will continue to be …

… that Chinese, being less political-minded (per se) than Malays or Indians and far more concerned about ...

... (a) the economy - the '3 bowls of rice', jobs, business, land to cultivate, etc, ...

... (b) education - not necessarily Chinese medium but good quality stuff to ensure their children through education have a chance of climbing out of or above their current status - the Lotus doctrine, and ...

... (c) security - safety for their families from an unstable environment (eg. political upheavals, racist mobs, criminals) and a hope for fairness in above two, economic and educational participation …

… would usually vote against rather than for a party …

… and would have been quite happy to maintain the status quo (of the BN in rule) … unless BN has demonstrated it cannot/could not provide one of the above-mentioned principal concerns of Chinese Malaysians …

… which in the past few years, UMNO-BN have shown its decided lack of responsibility.

At each UMNO general assembly, the racist arrogance, taunts and boasts have been gnawing away at each Chinese guts (at even those of MCA and Gerakan members).

The unfairness of the selection process for Malaysian universities and many other public institutions is already legend. The corruption prevailing in the business environment is known to generally favour the chosen (inclusive of chosen Chinese and Indians).

All these add on to the disenchantment with an UMNO-led government.

UMNO’s emasculation of MCA hasn’t added on to the confidence and dignity of Chinese Malaysians.

Much as many Chinese detest MCA for its ineffectual role as the representative of the community, precisely for the reason UMNO had frequently humiliated and undermined MCA, the Chinese have been quietly seething, resenting UMNO’s disdainful dismissive disregard for the largest Chinese political party, because they suffered vicarious humiliation and shame.

I have to say the situation became far worse and pronounced under the weak premiership of AAB who couldn't control those bigots in his party as they tried to out-do each other in demonstrating their ethnic credentials.

This straw broke the back of the Chinese Dromedary camel, as it had the Indian Bactrian camel when Hindraf emerged in fiery H-power in their show of utter frustration.

It's not the nature of most Chinese Malaysians to do what Hindraf or PKR anwaristas had done or would do, taking to the streets, so they quietly employ the only thing they could use to show their unhappiness and dissatisfaction – the vote.

When they walked into a polling booth, they voted not so much for the candidate (though Nizar has been a special exception, a one-off), they voted AGAINST the despised UMNO candidate … and if the candidate was not UMNO, then a despised UMNO stooge.

There was never any sophisticated coordinated Chinese Machiavellian program to vote in the role of a wannabe kingmaker – that’s sheer finger-pointing racist bullsh*t and it's very mischievous and sinister of Muhyiddin to suggest that.

My dear Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, remember my advice, that the magic mantra for a return of Chinese voters to the BN banner is not bangsa, agama dan Negara but assured fairness and quality in …

… economy, education and security!

The original Taliban - religiously racist!

The most racist regime in the world has recently whitewashed its soldiers' horrific conduct, clearing them from their abhorrent war crimes in Gaza, where those neo-Nazis deliberately murdered unarmed civilians and dropped horrendous flesh-burning phosphorous bombs on civilian centres.

And the irony of it has been that those crimes were admitted by its own soldiers, and not reported by any Arab or pro Palestinian groups or individuals.

A BBC report showed that the war was (my words) Taliban-ised – hardly surprising when the Judeans (ancestors of the Israelis) were the original Talibans. It reported:

The soldiers' testimonies also reportedly told of an unusually high intervention by military and non-military rabbis, who circulated pamphlets describing the war in religious terminology.

"All the articles had one clear message," one soldier said. "We are the people of Israel, we arrived in the country almost by miracle, now we need to fight to uproot the gentiles who interfere with re-conquering the Holy Land."

"Many soldiers' feelings were that this was a war of religion," he added.

Also read my previous posts:
(1)Neo-Nazis perpetuating Holocaust in Gaza
(2)Deuteronomic Israeli Military

Even as new PM Netanyahu pledged to resume peace talks with the oppressed Palestinians (of course mainly for the consumption and peace of mind of his naïve American benefactors) his government has blockaded aid to rebuild a Gaza demolished by the military of the racist regime, aid such as cement and building material.

The Israeli racist objective of making the lives of Palestinians as miserable as possible continues, with the covert aim of making the Palestinians leave the land the Israelis lusted.

ABC reported that:

Little has changed in Gaza since the war in January, with thousands of families still living in tents and homes and schools still just rubble and ruins.

But life for many children has never been the same since Israel launched its offensive three months ago.

In January, Israeli bombs flattened the main building of this school in northern Gaza, destroying eight of the school's 20 classrooms. [...]

Twelve-year-old Omsyat Awaja faces a tougher ordeal than many; days before the school was hit, her family home was bombed. Through a translator, she says her nine-year-old brother was shot dead by Israeli soldiers. Her parents too were shot and injured and now they live in a tent in a nearby camp.

"When my brother was between the hands of my father, and they executed him on purpose; they meant to kill, to shoot him," she said. "I remember also when my parents got wounded and they were bleeding for five days. I hope that in the future there will be opening of border crossings, so the construction material will come in so I will have my house again. But the future will never bring me back my brother."

Israel's military has repeatedly described its armed forces as the "most moral in the world", saying they take care not to kill civilians. It has justified the bombing campaign as retaliation for ongoing rocket fire into Israel by Hamas militants.

But Omsyat Awaja's father, Kamal, questions why his son had to die.

"The Israelis claimed through the whole war that they are democratic, they are civilised society," he said through a translator. "But why did they execute my son? So all those, all the people, all the army, who's doing that, is not [civilised]."

For the Palestinians, there can be no peace while Gaza remains cut off from the outside world - a two-year blockade has kept Palestinians effective prisoners, and stopped essential supplies from reaching them.

A couple of years back, Naftali Tamir, the Israeli ambassador to Australia in an interview with Ha’aretz, a leading Israeli newspaper, that “... the two countries [Israel and Australia] are white sisters amid the yellow race of Asia.”

He said: "Israel and Australia are like sisters in Asia. We are in Asia without the characteristics of Asians. We don't have yellow skin and slanted eyes. Asia is basically the yellow race. Australia and Israel are not - we are basically the white race."

As expected the Israeli Foreign Ministry initially feigned horror but in a subsequent ‘INTERNAL’ investigation cleared its ambassador from those racist comments. However, his tenure as ambassador was cut short.

Ha’aretz is not exactly a sensationalising newspaper in Israel, but the Israeli Foreign Ministry couldn’t afford to acknowledge the truth of that racist comments (and by its so-called ambassador) for fear of offending China and Japan, with disastrous trade and even diplomatic implications.

So it whitewashed its racist ambassador as it had just whitewashed its soldiers from their religious-racist behaviour.

"And when the LORD thy God hath delivered it into thine hands, thou shalt smite every male thereof with the edge of the sword:" [Deuteronomy 20:13]

None so blind ...

Malaysiakini - Hindraf offers Najib 100-day ceasefire reported:

Banned movement Hindu Rights Action Force (Hindraf) will refrain from organising protests or submitting memorandums for 100 days to give new Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak a chance to reform.

And in that 100 days, Hindraf chief P Waythamoorthy said he hoped Najib would release the three leaders of the movement who had been detained under the Internal Security Act since Dec 13, 2007.

Now, that’s smart of Waythamoorthy. The end (release of all detained under the ISA) justifies the means (ceasefire) ..... especially more so when Malaysians, particularly Malays, are known to easily take umbrage at what they perceive as pressure tactics.

Pressure tactics in Malaysia would usually end up with counter productive outcomes (unless the pressure tactics were meant to produce exactly that).

So a Taichi (soft) approach gets better results than a Shaolin (hard) demand. I'll be bold and say that Malay culture indicates a preference for 'makan lembut'.

Priority No 1 for Hindraf - get their people out from ISA detention.

But I don’t suppose we can expect civilised non-grandstanding 2-party democratic practice from a man obsessed with becoming the PM of Malaysia.

What we have been getting has been a series of bull, smelling all the way from the Turkish Embassy (with flak jacket included) through to 916 and even Taiwan, …

... to his eulogy of revolving door UMNO-PKR-UMNO Nasarudin Hashim’s defection as reflecting “... the sentiments of his voters, namely the Malays in his constituency ... as the beginning of a new wave … ;-)

… which turn out to be mud in his Brahma-n face …

... and unrepentantly, to a ‘BIG’ announcement which I blogged in Anwar, elections' over, so ... what's your 'BIG' announcement to KO Najib? ...

… where I recall Malaysiakini reporting the consummate (wah!) PKR leader said that it would have to wait until after Tuesday's by-election because "The timing is not right now. It could be dangerous."

Oh yes, the Great Reformer said: "I was to make an announcement tonight but after a discussion last night, we have decided that it is too dangerous to do it now. When we win the three by-elections on April 7, then I will make the announcement."

But, after the by-elections, when reporters asked him about his supernova ‘big announcement’ that will screw Najib up kau kau, Anwar said that he had already made a big announcement in Bukit Selambau in regards to the defections of PPP members into PKR.

“We announced the virtual dissolution of Kedah PPP. Isn't that a major announcement?"

Hang on a ding dong minute, Great One, didn’t you say the ‘BIG’ announcement had to be AFTER the by-elections because "The timing is not right now. It could be dangerous"?

When I posted that, not one of his supporters dare say anything, or they deliberately chose to pretend there wasn't any 'BIG' bullsh*t, but instead brought up tangential items.

;-) as I deliberately provoked them on their sad yearning to believe in the political messiah, and what a blatantly false messiah he is, I received angry feedback that I’m intolerant of those who don’t agree with my disdain and disgust for, and dislike and distrust of the World’s Greatest Reformer.

Again, 'twas a reaction totally tangential to my point, namely, where is this man’s credibility? Why are you all keeping quiet to his unmitigated shameless bull, and still praising him?

Therefore I deem it as my blogging duty and right to highlight this sad ostrich-like refusal to see bullsh*t for what its has been, pure Grade 1 bovine poo that stinks to high heaven.

Indeed, what the hell has my dislike for him got to do with what’s blatantly obvious, namely, his words/promises have, time and time again, turned out to be unreliable.

Indeed, none are so blind than those who refuse to see … his bullshit!

And as for Nizar’s monumental victory in Bukit Gantang and his exciting journey to Federal Parliament, I must claim pioneer status in my admiration of Nizar and support for him to have a federal parliamentary role. See my posts:

(1) Nizar Jamaluddin - an MB for Perak-ians
(2) Nizar for Parliament? & various snippets
(3) Anwar Ibrahim is dispensable!
(4) Nizar in federal politics - unlimited potential

But to attribute the Pakatan’s success to Anwar Ibrahim is a fallacy. I am not denying Anwar his role but I would not be far wrong to say it had been a minor one (other than his ‘BIG’ announcement wakakaka).

The real story - the lion share of the credit contributing towards Pakatan's success must go to the hardworking PAS and DAP parties.

The heartland support is divided between PAS and UMNO, and in Bukit Gantang, there was even a 4% swing towards UMNO, thanks to a combination of fear (of Chinese domination) and the ‘mohon derhaka’ misinformation by UMNO, and perhaps the late entry of Dr Mahathir into the campaign.

But we cannot take away PAS’ contribution in convincing around half of the heartland, indeed, in both Bukit’s to vote for Pakatan's candidates.

The DAP did the rest, especially in Bukit Gantang, where the new swing among the anti-Hee Chinese electorate was a humongous 10%, raising the share of Chinese support for Nizar to a tsunamic 75%.

;-) tough if you don't like the facts.

Forming cabinet and shadow cabinet - a wretched Malaysian problem

Ong Kian Ming wrote A calculated risk to exclude Khairy in Malaysiakini, obviously referring to the new Malaysian cabinet.

Ong reckons Khairy would have been useful to Najib in winning and attracting younger Malaysians to the fold of the BN, and no doubt Pakatan Rakyat must be pleased to see Khairy marginalised and insulted to an extent the UMNO Youth boss would lack the incentive to support Najib’s premiership.

Najib’s detractors, apart from accusing him of being Altantuyaa’s murderer minus any evidence save that already cut & pasted in their minds, have been sneering at him for being Dr Mahathir’s puppet ….. coz for some startling reasons known only to himself (we can only speculate, and Malaysians are damn good at this sport), he has ignored the UMNO Youth chief whilst appointing the UMNO Youth No 2 into the new cabinet.

Then, as if to support the detractors’ criticisms, Najib also selected Dr Mahathir’s son, Mukhriz who doesn’t hold any position in UMNO, to be a deputy minister.

But Najib has always been a person who has avoided confrontation with another UMNO leader, to an extent he had been labelled Mr Zig Zag.

We can speculate his strange decisions must be to mollify Dr Mahathir who has been dead set against Khairy being appointed to the cabinet. Perhaps Najib reckoned that at this stage of his premiership he could do well without the former PM harassing him as he witnessed was done to AAB.

It would be interesting to know what Najib would have told Khairy? Man man lai? Wakakakakakakaka.

But what about Pakatan Rakyat’s shadow cabinet? For the past year many have been advising and beseeching Anwar Ibrahim to form one but the World’s Greatest Reformer has studiously ignored them.

Of course kaytee has his opinions as to why the Renaissance Man has neglected such a fundamental pillar of Westminster democracy. In my humble opinion, I believe this was due to (initially 3 but now) 2 possible reasons:

(1) Earlier (immediately post general election last year), I suspect he planned to take his ‘core’ group of PKR MPs back to UMNO. It was doubly wonderful when BN-UMNO was denied its usual 2/3 majority. His leverage (offering his ‘core’ PKR MPs to give BN-UMNO its 2/3) became even more powerful.

UMNO in the person of AAB ignored him, and he now realised that the likelihood is even more remote with Najib in charge.

(2) He was far too obsessed with seizing power to become the PM – see my post The torment and impatience of Anwar Ibrahim where I wrote:

Not satisfied with the Pakatan achieving a tsunamic victory (alas, there was nothing for him personally, when UMNO continued to snub him), he sought to destabilize a democratically elected government.

In the 6-months long process of snapping at AAB's heels and attempting to crush Najib's wayward balls, he has pushed himself and Pakatan into a blind alley, where he now cannot extricate himself if he doesn’t become PM by 16 September 2008.

What he should have done was to consolidate the Pakatan’s new power, formed a shadow cabinet to train his colleagues on ministerial functions, and developed the 5 Pakatan held States as models of democracy, freedom and free speech, non-corruptibility, good governance with full transparency and public accountability, and race-less equality and opportunity.

And he would have easily become PM in 2012 …

… but alas no ..

Anwar Ibrahim has always been about Anwar Ibrahim, Anwar Ibrahim and Anwar Ibrahim, and f* the shadow cabinet!

(3) Anwar has been studiously avoiding the problems faced by every UMNO PM when forming a cabinet, namely, how to bloody satisfy every component party and more importantly, the UMNO factions.

This has been the reason why the size of the Malaysian cabinet is only exceed by that for the People’s Republic of China - wakakaka I didn't count but take my casual comparison as one to make a point.

I think Najib did try to reduce the size but must have given up, though we can see his strategic considerations in allocating generously to Sabah, Sarawak and the Chinese based/dominated component parties (otherwise why bother with Senators Koh TK and Chew Mei Fun, the former whose ministerial position serves no useful purpose).

Anwar knows all these as he once was up there in the top echelon of UMNO, helping Dr Mahathir make such decisions. Mind you, these last couple of days he must have wish he was in Najib’s shoes. Oh, how he would have love to dish out his Imperial edict, as to who should be Minister of this or that. ;-) Well, let’s stop dreaming and get back to topic.

Just how is he going to deal with the DAP, PAS and his own PKR, both the ‘core’ group and those sincere but outer-fringe elements, when he forms a shadow cabinet?

For example, Pak Haji Hadi Awang will be a very difficult person to satisfy, being both a nationalist as well as an Islamic conservative and one who is convinced that PAS shall be the primus inter pares (first among equals, as UMNO is in BN) in the Pakatan.

At the lower end, we mustn’t forget people like Gobalakrishnan (PKR MP for Padang Serai) who has been such a ‘dedicated’ PKR phantom bus stopper and cheer leader for Anwar at PKR general assembly wakakakakakakaka.

The danger in not satisfying every party or individual in forming a shadow cabinet could be the possible disintegration of the coalition or the defection of some individuals.

With the door to UMNO virtually sealed off to him, Anwar has only the Pakatan Rakyat as a platform left (was a 'standby' earlier) for him to realize his obsession.

... so, man man lai lah with the shadow cabinet ;-)

kaytee's thoughts on Najib's cabinet

Malaysiakini - Najib names his new cabinet.

Boring! Still unnecessarily and excessively large and unwieldy as before, but WTF can Najib do when he has to please everyone, especially the (important) component parties and his own UMNO factions. He still isn't strong enough to stamp his authority and really really slash the numbers down.

Anyway ... I am AGAINST the following people being appointed to the new Najib’s cabinet, with my reason placed against their names:

Koh Tsu Koon – bloke lost in the March 08 general election which means the rakyat didn’t want him, but Najib has allowed him to enter the cabinet via the Senate backdoor, against the people’s wish.

Ng Yen Yen (ooopsy, solleee sweetie Yen Yen, not you, my mistake ;-), thanks to reader Klaw) Chew Mei Fun – ditto

Sharizat Abdul Jalil – ditto

Obviously Koh TK's appointment is a concession to the Gerakan Party, which was almost annihilated in the last general election.

As for Yen Yen Mei Fun, I suspect Najib made another concession, this time to the MCA, in the hope the party will have a bit of ‘face’ to … er … ;-) ... face … the Chinese voters again, to persuade them to return to their traditional support for the BN.

Most certainly the deciding factor of the Chinese electorate, as witnessed in the Bukit Gantang by-election, must have convinced Najib to nurture this strategic area ... hence the concessions to both MCA and the Chinese-dominated Gerakan Party.

But alas, Najib must have believe MIC Humpty Dumpty and PPP Kayveas have no further contribution to make, not with (i) Hindraf already cornering the Indian support and (ii) the disaster in Bukit Selambau despite a PKR blunder in allowing Anwar Ibrahim to personally select unpopular Manikumar.

As I had remarked in my earlier post No ketupat in Selambau ...

... strangely (again, as reported by Malaysiakini), though PKR has done well in almost all the non-Malay areas, the sole exception seems to be the predominantly Indian area of Bukit Lembu, meaning the PKR candidate has enjoyed principally strong Chinese support.

I guess like in Kuala Terengganu, the DAP should (again) be thanked for its sterling work and contribution to a PR victory. The DAP has been pulling more than its share of its political weight without those grandiose but meaningless and useless 'big' announcements ;-)

Perhaps we may one day (soon?) see a Hindraf senator. But poor Kayveas ... quo vadis Aneh? As for Humpty Dumpty, poorah and don't forget your topee ;-)

Biggest loser is of course new UMNO Youth chief, Khairy Jamaluddin, who has been deliberately marginalised. To add insult to injury, Najib has appointed KJ's deputy in UMNO Youth, and far far worse for dear Khairy, Mukhriz Mahathir, who lost to KJ in the UMNO Youth party election, to the new cabinet.

If that is not a gross insult, I don’t know what is!

I do wonder whether KJ would have committed suicide if Najib had also appointed Khir Toyo as well wakakaka, but alas, the Disneyland junket was far too big to permit that.

But wait, perhaps there may still be hope for Khairy. Look, he can use what has been touted as his knowledge of Rosmah Najib being at the scene of Altantuyaa’s murder, yes, use that knowledge to 'bargain' his way into the strategic position of, say, Home Minister where he can then control the police ... and subsequently arrest Najib and all his rivals wakakaka.

But but how, you may ask?

Well, remember Raja Petra Kamarudin (RPK) and his Statutory Declaration?

I had blogged previously in
The R-A-H-M-A-N prophesy - to be fulfilled or forestalled? (relevant extracts):

RPK also revealed in his Stat Dec: “I have knowledge of who has informed me of this matter plus I have knowledge of the Ruler who has been briefed and is aware of the matter but I have agreed that I shall not reveal this information other than mention that the Prime Minister and his son-in-law have been handed a written report confirming what I have revealed.”

This is fantastic, that … AAB and KJ had received a written report about Rosmah’s […]

But WTF then, based on RPK’s declaration, what’s AAB and KJ waiting for?

Indeed, Khairy, go for it, and don’t let yourself or RPK down.

Hey, you can start off your threat by informing the press that you will be making a 'BIG', no, even 'BIGGER' announcement that will have a ‘direct or indirect bearing’ on Najib Abdul Razak becoming the prime minister.

And they better front up or face the wrath of their editors for missing out on your GODZILLA-ish announcement wakakakakakakakaka.

Anwar, elections' over, so ... what's your 'BIG' announcement to KO Najib?

Malaysiakini - Anwar: M'sians reject new PM!

;-) tell me why I’m not surprised at all wakakaka.

After pontificating on the PAS win in Bukit Gantang as a sure-fire indication of the public’s rejection of Najib as PM (aiyoyo, someone’s jealous as hell, wakakaka), he made me wonder ...

... whether the BN win in Batang Ai was an indication too of the Sarawakian’s rejection of him as an alternate PM - afterall, Anwar has positioned Sarawak as his frontline State to secure majority rule in 2013.

A well-known sweetie blogger and I had a chitchat yesterday while we were waiting for the results, and laughed at the numerous but idiotic references to the by-elections as a referendum for this bloke and that bloke, mainly Najib and Dr Mahathir …..

… when those have been nothing more than by-elections, each with more than one issue influencing the voters’ choice.

For example, many Chinese in Bukit Gantang were out to show their wrath for the betrayal by former DAP Hee. Calling her a defector or frog would be very polite terms, compared to what those local Chinese have been describing her. The Chinese anti-Hee-pro-PAS surge went up to more than 75%.

Another example of local issue/factor was in PAS' admittance in Malaysiakini PAS admits dip in Malay votes that it lost 4% of its 2008 share of the heartland's votes in the Bukit Gantang because, according to PAS Perak deputy chief and elections director Asmuni Awi, BN's Ismail Saffian was seen by Malay voters as a local boy.

And as we (sweetie blogger and kaytee wakakaka) concluded, each side of politics would spin their way to fantasy … as in … we won, they lost, public has passed a damning verdict on them, oh we lost coz there was cheating … wakakaka.

Hey, the BN could claim that Batang Ai was a referendum on Anwar's suitability as an alternate PM ;-)

But whatever, the by-elections are now over so … do you still remember what Anwar Ibrahim promised us once the by-elections were over?

You can’t?

Please refer to my post Anwar Ibrahim's earth-shattering 'BIG' announcement on Sunday 05 April 09, where ...

... according to Malaysiakini PKR: Mass defections from Kedah PPP, some 300 PPP members (and not 6,000 as we were initially informed by pro PKR sources) have defected over to PKR.

PKR election campaign strategist, Saifuddin Nasution, had informed journalists to turn up en masse for the earth-shattering news by Anwar, which was said to have a ‘direct or indirect bearing’ on Najib Abdul Razak becoming the prime minister

… or face the wrath of their editors for missing out on the PKR's defining watershed announcement, but …

… when the press saw it was only a pffffft case of 300 PPP members defecting to PKR, they grumbled ‘was that all? And PPP on top of that?’

So to stop their disdainful sneering comments (as reported by Malaysiakini) the consummate (wah!) PKR leader said that it would have to wait until after Tuesday's by-election.

"The timing is not right now. It could be dangerous," he said in his ceramah at Dewan Hock Teik Soo, Sungai Petani, which is part of the Bukit Selambau state constituency.

The Great Reformer said: "I was to make an announcement tonight but after a discussion last night, we have decided that it is too dangerous to do it now. When we win the three by-elections on April 7, then I will make the announcement."

Today when reporters asked him about his supernova ‘big announcement’ that will screw Najib up kau kau, guess what startling news did we get from him?

That he has his numbers finally, the crucial 31 MPs to effect 916?

Or, he has evidence that his Nemesis murdered Altantuyaa Shariibuu?

Pffffft again - We were informed by Malaysiakini Anwar said that he had actually made a big announcement in Bukit Selambau in regards to the defections of PPP members into PKR.

"We announced the virtual dissolution of Kedah PPP. Isn't that a major announcement?" he asked.

And this is the person you trust to be your next PM?

As I said in the comment section in my post Najib, Anwar - 2 Ballsukits and one Batang

I don't think Ong Ka Ting is a man one wants to quote for succinct statements but having said that, Ong had been spot on at least on one occasion, when he described Anwar as a person "who talks human talk to humans and ghost talk to ghosts."

The added danger is Anwar has been gifted with a silver tongue that he's quite capable of convincing people of whatever he chooses to project himself as. Take for example, his reformasi - was that compatible with his froggie campaign and 916?

Yet, despite his arrogant discarding of his reformasi mask in that raw grab for power from what he thought to be low brow AAB (someone he considers below his intellect), many still believe he is a reformer, and even attempt to justify his deformasi conduct.

No wonder in Malaysia we frequently hear of gullible (and well educated) women allowing themselves to be shagged by low brow Chinese mediums, bomohs and rascals. Those women had wanted to believe in the same way Anwar's supporters want to believe.

In some ways I feel sad for them.

... for being prepared to be shagged over and over again.

Buses of phantom voters with water bottles

Malaysiakini - Polling day: Tear gas, rain, phantom buses

Whenever PKR and UMNO clashed (doesn’t matter that the candidate had been from MIC), two things would most likely occur.

One – accusations of bus loads of phantom voters, made by PKR heroes.

As I wrote last year regarding the Permatang Pauh by-election:

Malaysiakini reported in
5 'phantom' buses stopped, MP and sons arrested that PKR leader Gobalakrishnan, MP for Padang Serai, and his two sons plus a supporter, adopted the PKR ‘core’ group’s habit of stopping buses, allegedly full of phantom voters.

OK, where was the evidence that the passengers were phantom voters? […]

Recall the Ijok by-election where PKR supporters blocked the car of Najib by placing flower pots on the road, with one sitting on the bonnet of that car?

And then in Lunas?

There has been a propensity by some PKR fanatical followers (or those who want to bodek Anwar kau kau to attract the reformasi man’s attention wakakaka) to take the law into their hands like the ruthless lawless vigilante corp of the American Wild West, stringing up people they suspected (only suspected, no proof whatsoever) of crimes whilst forgetting that in their vigilante action, they would be committing crimes themselves.

I am aghast that a member of parliament would stoop to such disgraceful grandstanding antics.

Two – they would ‘exchange’ water bottles. Malaysiakini reported (at 4.45pm) that in Bukit Selambau the situation in several areas is quite tense with supporters from BN and Pakatan having a go at each other. … One focal point is Sungai Lalang where the supporters are trading insults and hurling plastic water bottles at one another.

They did that in the Ijok by-election as well – see my post Ijok - glimpses of Vision 2020 where I wrote:

After the nomination period ended at 10 am, supporters of BN’s K Parthiban and PKR’s Khalid Ibrahim decided to flaunt their V-2020 credentials by
‘exchanging’ bottled water, a traditional though modernised Malaysian custom.

In the old days, any handy loose chairs would do as piloting aspirants air-tested the furniture’s aerodynamic properties. But today, that’s really déclassé.

1st World affluence demands that only bottled water would do, and bearing in mind science’s advice that 1 litre of water weighs 1 hefty kilogram, flying missiles of 375 ml or even 750 ml unopened bottles could have devastating effect.

A supporter of one of the candidates was heard to have said “Take my Evian, you …. (censored) …”

The response was shockingly provocative: “Cheapskate – here’s my Glacia Nova … nah nah nah!”

Mount Franklins, Abbey Well, AQA, Adonis Heilwasser and our local Alpine were among many brands shown off and exchanged by wannabe test-pilots from both BN and PKR.

I heard those el-cheapo DAP blokes and lassies who were present stuck to JKR-juice in imitation Tupperware and refused to release the containers for launching, whilst PAS also refused to let go of their Al Ghadir (imported from Saudi Arabia). It would have been most disrespectful to fling away stuff imported from the Saudi nation.

The top find from the post-exchange debris was a Bling H2O (at US$40 for 750 ml, the most expensive bottled water in the world) but no one wanted to confess to ownership. A few Chap Tiga Kepala were also discovered, evidence to Najib Tun Razak’s glocalisation, but again, like the other end of the range, Bling H2O, there were embarrassed reluctance to admit to their ownership.

But, like the Seekers, I’m sad in a way that the carnival is now over ;-)

But nonetheless congratulations to the newly elected representatives.

No ketupat in Selambau

You may not believe it, but Anwar Ibrahim and I share one common love wakakaka, Hindustani films ... where we would see (as the songs roll) the hero crooning to his darling in the Taj Mahal gardens, while in the next instant they'd be skiing down the snow slopes of Kashmir (minus ugly intrusions by terrorists) ...

... then flash, you find them on a boat in a Simla lake, before dancing with gaiety in the verdant tea plantations of Darjeeling. Oh, those songs - it's hard to ever imagine Indian movies without songs.

But alas, for Samy Vellu, he won’t be able to show off his 'Ketupat in Kashmir' - An MGR Extravaganza

… because his MIC candidate has more or less lost the Bukit Selambau by-election.

Frankly, Samy Vellu should spare his party and the BN further embarassment and leave his party post NOW! Those poor BN people had been cringing at his unwanted presence during the pre-election campaign. He must understand he's no longer relevant or wanted.

Malaysiakini reported, at 7.52 pm in Bukit Selambau, unofficial results indicated that, with 15 polling stations counted, PKR is leading by a comfy majority of 1,294. Only 7 more polling stations remain to be counted.

But strangely (again, as reported by Malaysiakini), though PKR has done well in almost all the non-Malay areas, the sole exception seems to be the predominantly Indian area of Bukit Lembu, meaning the PKR candidate has enjoyed principally strong Chinese support.

I guess like in Kuala Terengganu, the DAP should (again) be thanked for its sterling work and contribution to a PR victory. The DAP has been pulling more than its share of its political weight without those grandoise but meaningless and usless 'big' announcements ;-)

Incidentally, should we thank those 300 former PPP people? Wakakaka!

Anyway, the most reliable indicator of Humpty Dumpy (of the Must-I-Come party) falling down, where all the King’s men couldn’t put his crown back together is ...

... the MIC operations centre in Sungai Petani totally deserted way way way before the final election result is announced, with all party supporters gone. Aiyoyo ;-)

My matey Ong Kian Ming has been spot on with his pre-poll prediction that in Bkt Selambau: PKR to win by 1,500-2,000 ...

... because Malaysiakini reported, at 8.50 pm (unoffically) PKR retains Bukit Selambau, where with only one more polling box to be counted, Manikumar is leading with a 2,092-vote majority.

And Nizar is still leading handsomely in Bukit Gantang. Will Ong's prediction for Malaysia's most fave PAS person to win Bukit Gantang by 3,000 come true too?

In fact yes, coz Malaysiakini has reported the unofficial result for Bukit Gantang (at 8.50 pm) as Nizar winning with a majority of 2,945 votes.

PAS obtained 20,021, while BN received 17,076.

Malaysiakini reported that Nizar Jamaluddin leaves the party’s operation centre in Air Kuning in an open hatch SUV, and waves to supporters as if he has just won the US presidential race.

Well done, Nizar, a future PM of Malaysia.

But more than for Nizar and what's his name ;-) in Bukit Selambau, I congratulate Ong Kian Ming for his amazingly accurate analyses.

Najib, Anwar - 2 Ballsukits and one Batang

Malaysiakini 'B-Day': Tests for Najib and Anwar is a piece written by Bridget Welsh who is associate professor in Southeast Asian studies at John Hopkins University-SAIS, Washington DC (and I think, the supervisor for my good matey Ong Kian Ming’s doctoral thesis - nope, have been informed she's not OKM's supervisor - sorry KM).

From the title of her Malaysiakini article one shouldn't be blame for assuming that even sweetie Welsh has been caught up by the Najib versus Anwar battle that some in Malaysia want to portray as a fight between good and evil. Who’s good and who’s evil would depend on your political affiliation wakakaka!

Since I have none (political affiliation) save a current support for DAP’s reasonably clean politics and righteous political ideology, I am most qualified to pass judgement wakakaka – OK - I admit having an immense distrust for Anwar Ibrahim and his brand of shameless 916 politics, far greater than I have for Najib, though I consider both of them as from the same cesspool.

When Najib was DPM and thus deputy chairperson of the BN, it was only natural to hold him responsible for BN election (including by-election) successes or failures, as the BN election campaign director is traditionally the deputy chairperson of the BN.

Thus Najib was blamed for the loss of Permatang Pauh and Kuala Terengganu. Mind you, the former was never in question a guaranteed victory for PKR and therefore a no-hoper for the BN, whilst, yes, the latter was lost to PAS.

Najib is now the PM and therefore the BN’s campaign director is Muhyiddin who should rightfully be held responsible for the BN’s successes or failures in the one batang and two ballsukit’s by-elections, but …

… WTF, keep the gun sight on Najib and make sure we blame him for not winning the Bukit Selambau seat from PKR or the Bukit Gantang seat from PAS. They are referendum on Najib's PM-ship, especially if BN were to lose - wakakaka.

I wonder what referendum was on in 2004? wakakaka!

Before Najib became PM, he as DPM was also blamed for the draconian use of ISA, police and the law to suppress the press, rallies and virtually everything, even though there was a certain PM by the name of AAB and a certain Home Minister named Syed Hamid Alba, but …

… WTF, we had to keep the gun sight on then-DPM Najib and make sure we blame him for those over-the-top use of the law, police, courts, whatever …

G.A.N (Gerakan Anti Najib) has so successfully demon-ized Najib that the bloke has to be blamed for every which thing, and many of us like lemmings would follow that G.A.N demon-ization path without bothering to use our brains independently ... alas!

After all, we argue, didn’t he threaten to soak his keris in Chinese blood … probably the only UMNO bloke to ever threaten Chinese Malaysians, unlike good olde Anwar Ibrahim, who only told Chinese to f* off back to Tiongsun, and Indians that temple bells might not ring again if they don’t watch it.

I wonder whether evil Najib has ever wrecked an international meeting in Malaysia, like Apcet II?

Hmmm, come to think of it, Who was in charge when Apcet II was attacked by thugs?

In keeping with current trends set by G.A.N, perhaps it was Najib.

I bet Najib would have said after UMNO’s successful wrecking of Apcet II: “Our mission was to stop the conference and we did just that.”

As for the two Bukits, I recommend you read the analyses of my good matey Ong Kian Ming in Malaysiakini titled Bukit Gantang: PAS to thump Umno by 3,000 and Bkt Selambau: PKR to win by 1,500-2,000.

Ong is probably the best Malaysian pollster and would each time share with us his erudite dissections of the factors he analysed to come to his fairly accurate predictions.

One amazing sea change he has brought out has been the voters' swing of preference by ethnicity. If we examine Ong’s table for Bukit Gantang from 1999 to 2008, we see that the Malay voters have remain generally equal and fairly stable between PAS and UMNO at the 50 percentile mark.

How much will the ‘mohon derhaka’ misinformation and accusation of Nizar’s pro Chinese stand influence the heartland, and how much will be the effect of Dr Mahathir returning to the campaign trail for UMNO remain to be seen?

But what has been startling has been the swing of non-Malay (chiefly Chinese) voters, from an all time high of 84% for BN’s Bao Gong in 2004 to an abysmal 35% in 2008, in the period of one mere general election, more so when the candidate standing in the 2008 election was a PAS candidate.

I believe Nizar will continue to enjoy the 65% non-Malay support if not more because of his immense popularity. Ong suggested that non-Malay support may increase by another 5% for good olde Nizar.

Anwar Ibrahim's earth-shattering 'BIG' announcement

Yesterday Saifuddin Nasution excited not only opposition supporters but also easily-excited kaytee, when he stated that Anwar Ibrahim would be making a ‘big announcement’ that night.

Wow, I thought to myself, or more like it, fantasize wildly ...

... has he got his numbers finally, the crucial 31 MPs to resurrect 916?

Or, he has evidence that his Nemesis murdered Altantuyaa Shariibuu?

Won’t one of those be just greaaaAAT? Wow and double wow, no wait, make it triple wow!

So 5000 people (admittedly his supporters plus the press) went to his ceramah with great expectation – the Great Reformer has a stunning BIG BIG announcement that would shake Malaysian politics forever more.

And what was it?

Malaysiakini told us in PKR: Mass defections from Kedah PPP some 300 PPP (wow!) members have defected over to PKR, the reformasi party of Malaysia.

Initially it was reported that a mass wave of defections totally some 6,000 former PPP members had tsunami-ed across to join PKR, but ... alas, former PPP VP Nadarajan, one of the defectors, admitted to Malaysian Insider that only 300 or so PKR membership forms had been filled ...

... but but but, no worries ... he said the rest of the 5,700 will follow after the April 7 poll. ;-)

Terrific reformasi in action – yay!

Oh, before some of you comment on why I haven’t used the ’froggie’ word, belay your nasty comment ... that's because none of those 300 former PPP - now PKR members (application forms were submitted last night to join PKR – Bravo!) were elected in the last general election ;-)

Therefore they should be free to move around (politically) as they please because they haven’t betrayed any voters.

But it has been a proud moment for Anwar Ibrahim, the world's greatest political reformer, for succeeding in motivating 300 former BN members to jump ship.

A truly stupendous act in which he excels, which explains why his party’s election campaign strategist, Saifuddin Nasution, informed journalists to turn up en masse for the earth-shattering news or face the wrath of their editors for missing out on the PKR's defining watershed announcement – imagine, 300 PPP members recruited into PKR.

Reformasi at its best! Democracy has been saved. Najib, eat your heart out!

Oh, another thing ... I don't want any of you to be hurtful ... to Anwar, Nadarajah and those former PPP by questioning whether that was it, the PKR promised so-called BIG BIG BIG announcement?

... coz Anwar pre-empted any of your disdainful sneering comments by insisting that the PPP defections were not.

The Great Reformer said: "I was to make an announcement tonight but after a discussion last night, we have decided that it is too dangerous to do it now. When we win the three by-elections on April 7, then I will make the announcement."

Huh? It's not safe now, but it'll be safe after the by-elections?

Truly vintage man man lai Anwar Ibrahim, wakakakakakakakakkakakaaa!

Nizar gave land to Chinese new villagers, UMNO gave land to Chinese billionaires

Malaysiakini - Nizar a 'modern-day Tun Perak'

Aiyoyo, karn neen nair (KNN which euphemistically means ‘dash it’), never thought I would agree with you-know-who wakakaka – this is real chea lart lah (calamitous).

As we’re all aware, UMNO has been attacking Nizar, who’s standing as the PAS candidate for the by-election in Bukit Gantang federal constituency.

Ironically the non-Malays, particular the Chinese are almost all (except BN people) supporting the PAS candidate – hmmm, we certainly have come a long long way.

But the Malays (leaving out pro-UMNO people) are a bit more cautious. Malays hold their Sultans in very high regard, so UMNO has been playing hell with Nizar’s court language of ‘mohon patih derhaka’ which is a polite way of telling the Sultan that he (Nizar) disagreed with the Sultan’s demand that he quit his MB post.

Alas, ‘derhaka’ also means ‘betray’ or ‘betrayal’ so UMNO has been projecting Nizar as a traitorous rebel, who has betrayed the Sultan.

UMNO has also portrayed Nizar to the Malay constituency as a Melayu who gave State land way to the Chinese.

So, speaking at a couple of ceramah, Anwar combated UMNO's nasty propaganda by likening Mohd Nizar's defiance to that of the famous Tun Perak.

Malaysiakini reported:

Quoting from Chapter 18 of Hikayat Hang Tuah - an account of one of the most famous Malay warriors - Anwar explained how Tun Perak (Prime Minister) had defied the Malacca Sultan's decision to have Hang Tuah (Admiral) executed.

Instead, Tun Perak, who knew that Hang Tuah was framed, brought the latter into hiding. When the sultan found that Hang Tuah was indeed framed and regretted ordering his execution, Tun Perak was compelled to admit that Hang Tuah was indeed alive.

"Tun Perak told the Sultan 'ampun tuanku, beribu-ribu ampun, sembah patik mohon diampun, sembah derhaka patik pohonkan' (Please forgive me, for I have betrayed you).

See? It is in Hikayat Hang Tuah! I hope Umno people know their history. They only know how to 'sembah balak patik nak ambil (ask for logging contracts)", he told the crowd who gathered despite the drizzle.

"Nizar is like Tun Perak. He is loyal. He follows the sultan's orders. But when he needs to explain something to the sultan, he'd beg for forgiveness and 'sembah derhaka patik' because he wants to protect the interest of the people from a power grab," added Anwar.

Well, Anwar did Malay studies in uni so he should know his Malay history. And on this score I agree with his use of historical example to defend Nizar (ooops, nearly bit my tongue saying that).

And he also defended Nizar for granting land titles to Chinese new villages.

Malaysiakini reported: He said that Umno was practising double standards as there were many cases of Chinese tycoons being given huge plots of land without any protest from the party.

"The gave one mountain (Genting Highlands) to Lim Goh Tong, one hill (Bukit Tinggi) to Vincent Tan and one island (Pangkor Laut) to YTL (Francis Yeoh). Is there a single Umno leader who protested?" he said.

"Look at his record. Which land has he stolen? Which property has he taken? Which logging (contract) did he take? How can you say he is a betrayer?

"What about that former menteri besar from Umno? He took RM1.3 million of state funds to fund himself, and his wife and family, to a trip to Disneyland!" he exclaimed.

Yes yes I agree again wakakakakakaakakaa.

['Cusi, gotta go lie down down, too much stress saying I agree with you-know-who, wakakaka]

The final curtain

Malaysiakini - 81 MPs ask king to put off Najib's appointment.

The Pakatan Rakyat MP was led by Anwar Ibrahim (why am I not surprised) in submitting the petition to HM.

The basis for their request is that Najib has been accused of being linked to the murder of Altantuyaa Shariibuu.

He stated: "Even worse, he has been linked with the murder of a Mongolian woman, and the case has been reported in newspapers and magazines around the world. Hence, we urge the king to postpone his appointment as prime minister until all these allegations have been cleared by an independent commission."

Who has accused him?

And on whose accusations have the foreign media based their reports?

And what evidence has Anwar offered to his HM to support his petition?

Isn’t this just another of his 916 bluff, or last desperate attempt to preserve his own interest in, what I have always believe, being able to return to UMNO? A Najib in charge of UMNO rules this possibility completely out.

My only regret is that Anwar Ibrahim has dragged Lim Kit Siang and Pak Haji Nik Aziz into his outlandish royal petition to HM.

Najib murdered Altantuyaa? OK, let’s talk about Balasubramanian, the missing PI. Of course the sequence of events leading to the mysterious disappearance of Bala have been attributed by his supporters to another of Najib’s nefarious machinations.

But I have always questioned the following points related to Bala:

(a) Bala’s press conference in releasing his Statutory Declaration (SD) that Najib had sex with Altantuyaa was chaired (or dominated) by Anwar Ibrahim (why wasn't I surprised?)

(b) Bala’s SD which claimed Razak Baginda to have revealed his (Razak’s) most inner secret to a hired private investigator, with even a statement that Altantuyaa told Najib who then told Razak Baginda who then told Bala who then told us (via his SD), that she liked it in her back – coincidentally an 'equivalent sin' to the 2nd sodomy accusation against Anwar then

(c) Bala’s reporting to the police station was done WITHOUT an accompanying lawyer. I find this totally implausible for a man who has just made a very damning SD against the DPM of a nation. And wasn’t this just strange considering that whenever Anwar moves near any police station he would be accompanied by a brigade of lawyers.

(d) Bala’s immediately disappearance after his 2nd SD (bizarrely withdrawing his 1st SD, as if he was threatened by the police or unklnown parties), which could only hurt only one person, namely Najib.

I had believed that the whole set of scenarios, SD, report to police station, 2nd SD withdrawing his 1st SD, and subsequent disappearance (in these process fortifying the allegations against Najib), had been a setup … to damn Najib.

Since then, I've come to learn that whoever had ‘persuaded’ Anwar to personally select parachutist S Manikumar as the PKR candidate for Bukit Selambau over far more capable candidates, in the strange 'inexplicable' way Anwar had personally selected Loh Gwo Burne (who wasn’t even a PKR member until approximately a few weeks before the general election) to be PKR’s candidate for the federal constituency of Kelana Jaya, might have some form of connections with the disappeared private investigator Bala.

Apparently there is a nexus between that 'persuasive' person, former (PKR) ADUN for Bukit Selambau YB bigamist Arumugam and Bala - incidentally we have also learnt that Manikumar is Arumugam's brother in law.

For more read my posts:

(1) PI Bala in Bangkok or Kolkata?
(2) Somewhere in Puducherry

But tomorrow when Najib becomes PM, much as PKR members will pray, fantasize for last-minute miracles or curse Najib to die of heart attack tonight, I believe the doors of UMNO will be closed for one person, probably forever.

PKR snatching defeat from jaws of victory in Bukit Selambau?

Malaysiakini - PKR's Kalai quits over by-election snub!

I told a sweetie the other day that I thought PKR may just do the impossible and snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in Bukit Selambau - it could pretty well lose to the BN ...

... despite Samy Vellu making an ass of himself and in turn, the BN, by insisting on campaigning for BN when he is actually not wanted by BN campaign managers wakakaka.

The BN campaign people cringed when they see the bewigged Soongnai Seepoot loser down in the state constituency doing his 'Ketupat in Kashmir' - An MGR Extravaganza speciality ;-)

But alas, PKR has failed to capitalise on the BN’s walking disaster, and make mincemeat out of the MIC candidate through his (admittedly reluctant visual) association with Humpty Dumpty who couldn’t even defend his own so-called invincible seat.

And the reason for the failure to capitalise on the MIC joker? As usual, trust Anwar Ibrahim to offend another Kalla.

PKR Jerai division chief B Kalaivanar has left Anwar's party with a huff and a puff, taking along with him some 500 supporters.

Kalai was so pissed off with Anwar’s selection of an unknown parachutist that he bestowed on Anwar what PKR people called Dr Mahathir, namely, the ‘Pharaoh’.

Kalai said: "When Dr Mahathir was prime minister, we used to say he was the Pharaoh but now when we look closely at Anwar, people would realise that he is the Pharoah and dictator.”

"They (PKR) have become ungrateful ... Anwar does not have an ounce of respect for those who have fought for this party."

Meanwhile, the Malaysian Insider reported that a separate group of nearly 400 Indian (former) PKR members have switched support to the BN in protest over Anwar Ibrahim’s personal choice of the candidate for the Bukit Selambau state seat.

It seems dear Anwar likes to nominate candidates himself as was witnessed in his very unusual last minute selection of a virtual unknown, Loh Gwo Burne to be the PKR parliamentary candidate for Kelana Jaya in the last general election.

Loh became a PKR member at the very last minute to be officially nominated as the PKR's candidate, by decree from Anwar Ibrahim!

Hmmm, doesn’t PKR have some kind of selection committee? I guess not because with Anwar Ibrahim as its leader (de facto or otherwise), it’s usually a one-man show and thus unsurprisingly a one-man decision.

But what would be a shame if BN were to win in the Bukit Selambau by-election. The Indian voters should consider carefully how the Home Affairs Minister has treated Uthayakumar with disregard and disrespect – see my earlier post Uthayakumar suffers the evils of ISA

Related:

Uthayakumar suffers the evils of ISA

Malaysiakini - Uthaya got a beef with his chicken sambal!

F* the by-elections! This is far more disturbing if the Malaysiakini report can be verified.

Based on this report, it would appear that the Home Minister is not only detaining a very ill man under the draconian ISA, …

… a man who also suffers a worsening condition for his painful fractured toe but is still denied his choice of private health treatment, and who isn’t provided with a diet appropriate for his diabetic problems …

… but he (the Minister) has vicariously violated the man’s religious belief.

Uthayakumar is a Hindu who abstains from beef because of his religious belief in the same manner Muslims do not take pork. Yet, according to the Malaysiakini news report, he has been served beef at the Kamunting Detention Camp where he is being held.

Uthaya stated in a report: “I was served chicken sambal with rice. I (saw) what looked like beef pieces in the chicken sambal.”

“When I checked with detainees working in the kitchen, they confirmed that the beef sambal and chicken sambal were cooked in the same pot. (The chicken was) dished out and put on separate tray and served to me.”

Why is there such a disrespect for Uthaya’s religious belief and disregard for his health?

Why are Indians in particular treated so harshly? WTF has the MIC done?

Najib crushed between Dr Mahathir & KJ?

Malaysiakini - KJ's election: Dr M spews venom!

Dr M said: "They chose a leader found guilty of using money and inducements in his bid to become Youth chief. Whether he was allowed to contest or not, it does not negate the fact that he is corrupt. "The punishment meted on this person is inadequate and unfair because others found guilty of a similar offence were barred from contesting."

"There has never been a case where a person known and acknowledged as being corrupt by the disciplinary committee, the party and the public is elected and heralded as a leader. This is what was done by Umno Youth which was once renowned as the front-line force of the Umno struggle."

Yesterday I posted Najib Razak and the victory of KJ where, after questioning the popular belief or PKR propagated myth that Najib and KJ are enemies, I raised further questions as follows:

I also believe Dr Mahathir has been annoyed with Najib for not doing more to support Mukhriz, where his subtle criticisms of Najib in recent times could well be hints for the latter to neutralise or neuter KJ.

But ...

Could it possibly be that Najib has not interfered at all with the election for the new UMNO Youth Chief, because he wasn’t comfy with Mukhriz in that powerful position?

Could it be that Najib doesn’t want a Dr M as a backseat driver to his premiership?

Indeed, could it be that Najib is now not too unhappy with the outcome of that race?

Today, one of my faves at Malaysiakini, Josh Hong wrote in his Youth polls: The morning after... the following:

My abhorrence for Umno is well-known to many, and I make no apologies for that. This is a political institution that shows no respect for human rights, and goes against everything that modern democracy stands for. [...]

Still, I could hardly conceal my glee when Khairy Jamaluddin pulled off the biggest upset by defeating his two powerful rivals in the race for the Umno Youth chief post two days ago, which was clearly a slap in the face for Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

The former prime minister must be feeling so miserable that his effort of the past few years to halt Khairy’s meteoric rise has amounted to nothing. [...]

Khairy’s victory is a blessing in disguise. Should Mukhriz have made it and Najib was compelled to include him in the new cabinet, Mahathir would relish in being some kind of a back-seat driver for sure.

It would seem that not only is UMNO Youth today less beholden to the name of Dr Mahathir, but Najib may want to be his own man and is distancing himself from his patron and mentor.

Can he afford to do that?

And let’s not forget that KJ, for all his relatively young age, has shown himself to be a master politician who has outfoxed and outmanoeuvred many in UMNO, and more than surprised the media and political pundits.

Najib Razak and the victory of KJ

Needless to say, the hottest news in town is the SIL.

Khairy Jamaluddin’s victory might have come as a surprise to most people, though I am one of those who weren’t.

Mind you, it hasn’t been due to my incredible take on UMNO politics but more of what I hear Dr Mahathir had to say. If we recall, his son Mukhriz won the most nominations for the post of UMNO Youth Chief, some 600 plus, while KJ only managed a modest figure adequate to see him into the race …

… yet Dr M stated (words to the effect) that meant nothing as it could change during the actual party election. He has now been proven right.

On top of that, he has been consistently against KJ in the lead-up to the UMNO elections, signalling his assessments and concerns for Mukhriz.

My good mate, Ong Kian Ming has also written an erudite piece in Malaysiakini on How Khairy managed the impossible.

Read it ‘coz it tells you quite a lot, far more than some who analysed Mukhriz's loss as due to Khir Toyo splitting the anti-KJ votes. Unlike the case in general elections, in political party elections voters actually vote for the candidates they prefer.

But on one count I have to disagree with Ong, on his paragraphs (relevant extracts only) which, with its section title of ‘Najib fails to kill Khairy off’ said:

What are some of the political implications of Khairy’s improbable victory?

The first and most immediate implication has to do with Najib’s power and influence within Umno. If the ‘signal’ which was sent by Najib was not sufficient to ‘kill off’ Khairy’s chances to become the next Umno Youth chief, one has to wonder ….. […]

Khairy will no doubt play the role of the loyal Youth chief but he will remember what Najib tried to do to him. And when the time comes when Najib’s back is against the wall (and that time will most certainly come) and if it is not politically expedient for Khairy to support Najib, then the daggers will be unsheathed, …..

I think many in Malaysia have come to swallow completely the story promoted by the Malaysia-Today blog that there exists an irreconcilable schism between Najib and KJ ...

... where once there was even a conspiracy of a covert pact between AAB-KJ and Anwar to do Najib in. I too had initially bought this story.

Then there was the RPK’s Statutory Declaration about AAB-KJ having the dirt on Rosmah’s nocturnal expedition to personally witness the blowing up of Altantuyaa Shariibuu. I had mentioned its implausibility more than once, the last being in my recent post The R-A-H-M-A-N prophesy - to be fulfilled or forestalled?

I wrote (relevant extracts):

RPK also revealed in his Stat Dec: “I have knowledge of who has informed me of this matter plus I have knowledge of the Ruler who has been briefed and is aware of the matter but I have agreed that I shall not reveal this information other than mention that the Prime Minister and his son-in-law have been handed a written report confirming what I have revealed.”

This is fantastic, that … AAB and KJ had received a written report about Rosmah’s […]

But WTF then, based on RPK’s declaration, what’s AAB and KJ waiting for?

If AAB has that report, would he have left?

And quite frankly, can anyone give me an example of the so-called enmity or schism between Najib and KJ?

I eventually came to the conclusion, MY conclusion, that the stories have been nothing more than a G.A.N campaign to drive a wedge between AAB-KJ and Najib so that ‘someone’ could exploit any possible chinks.

I also believe Dr Mahathir has been annoyed with Najib for not doing more to support Mukhriz, where his subtle criticisms of Najib in recent times could well be hints for the latter to neutralise or neuter KJ.
