Top BN leaders today reiterated their commitment to fight for the freedom of former prime minister Najib Abdul Razak, who is behind bars for corruption.
In their speeches at the 50th BN Anniversary celebration in Kuala Lumpur, Umno’s Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, Wee Ka Siong (MCA), and M Saravanan (MIC) spoke about an alleged supplementary order by former king Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, which purportedly ordered for Najib’s house arrest.
Saravanan, who spoke before the other two, said the Indian community is indebted to the former Pekan MP and hoped that BN can do something to see to his release.
“The Indian community and MIC are always indebted to Najib for all his contributions to the community.
“He was the first prime minister who was really sincere in upgrading the Indian community’s socioeconomic situation,” he said.
MIC deputy president M Saravanan
The MIC deputy president also listed a number of Najib’s contributions, including setting up the agency now known as the Malaysian Indian Transformation Unit (Mitra) and an investment scheme for the community.
“Today, we heard about an order from the (former) king, so together as BN, let’s do something to free Najib.
“I am just delivering what the people want,” he said.
‘Answer addendum question’
Wee urged the government to come up with a clear answer to whether the addendum order exists.
“The answer is simple, whether there is (an addendum order) or there is not.
“In this case, this touches on BN’s integrity (to fight for its leader).
“Doesn’t a prisoner have rights? If a decision has been made on his appeal, then we must carry out our responsibility,” the MCA president said.

MCA president Wee Ka Siong
Following this, Zahid in his closing speech vowed to continue their fight for Najib.
The Umno president said it was impossible for him to forget Najib who had been his friend since 1987.
“We totally understand MCA and MIC’s sentiment, and the feelings of PBRS and other friends in Umno.
“In our monthly Umno Supreme Council meeting, not even once did we forget to make the ‘Bossku’ issue part of our agenda.
“It is impossible for us to forget him. (But) we are facing some obstacles, and this is something that he (Najib) and his family understand.
“But be sure that Umno and BN will never abandon Bossku who is now behind bars,” he said.

Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi
Bossku is a moniker that Najib’s supporters give him.
Adding further, Zahid said he is confident that there will be a “light at the end of the tunnel” for Najib.

BN will not be able to revive as long as it fails to unhesitantly oppose Corruption and Corrupt officials.
