Jihad donation drive for Siti Mastura reaches RM925,451: Let the slander continue?

CONGRATULATIONS are in order for Kepala Batas MP Siti Mastura as PAS has managed to collect a total of RM925,451 from the fund raising, also known as Jihad Donation to pay off RM825,000 of her legal damages.

In a statement yesterday, PAS said the donation drive had ended and thanked its members and supporters for their aid.

Alhamdulilah.. syukur kehadrat Allah SWT dengan izin dan rahmatnya kutipan Jihad untuk MP Kepala Batas Dr Ustazah Mastura telah mencapai sasaran dan ditutup - PAS PUSAT.

It appears the fortunate Kepala Batas MP will not need to declare bankruptcy after all. However, the warmness and positivity of the situation was not shared by the internet community.

The comment section is not short of negative feedbacks from netizens who lamented the purpose of the Jihad donation drive.

Others were downright sarcastic as can be seen from PomenSkruLebih who said that hopefully with the “donation,” from Siti Mastura, the MP of DAP can implement various programmes to develop the party.

“Thank you, PAS. The money allows DAP to continue helping the poor people. May god continue to help the good people,” said Yeo.

Nikko_san added that it was foolish to give easy money to Lim Kit Siang, Lim Guan Eng and Teresa Kok.

Several netizens further pointed out the futility of a Jihad Donation, thinking that this may cultivate a political culture based on slander.

Sunny wondered why it was called jihad to collect donations to pay off the fine when this is about slander.

Then there was Faizal and NikM who added that the slander will continue when people think they could get away with it now that there are generous people providing contributions.

According to ReeN, it was unsurprising that PAS managed to collect the amount since PAS members totalled at 1,005,700 people as of August 2002.

“If it was made mandatory for each member to pay RM1 a person, they could pay off Masturas’ fine,” said ReeN.

But now that there is an excess of RM127,451 from the donation, what do we do with it?

We suppose if Siti Mastura has not learned her lesson, she could continue to contribute the excess towards the welfare and development of DAP.

And when we think about it, the “Jihad” donation drive was indirectly a move to collect funds for the betterment of DAP. Perhaps DAP and PAS are friends after all. —Dec 29, 2024
