PH settles election seats in several states, says Loke
Loke Siew Fook says seat negotiations will continue while Pakatan Harapan leaders decide on Muda’s application to join the coalition.
PETALING JAYA: Pakatan Harapan leaders have finalised the allocations for parliamentary seats in several states in Peninsular Malaysia for the coming general election, DAP secretary-general Loke Siew Fook said.
Loke said he was informed that the opposition coalition had finalised negotiations for three to four states, The Star reported.
He also revealed that the PH presidential council has received an official application from Muda today to join the coalition.
“We will discuss the application in the coming presidential council meeting and hope to come out with a final decision soon.
“We view the interest from other parties to join PH as a positive thing, as it shows that there is something special and attractive about the coalition,” he was quoted as saying.
Loke said that seat negotiations would not be affected if Muda were to join the coalition, as any discussions with the party could be done later.
“We cannot be waiting for a decision to be made on Muda before starting seat negotiations.
“Seat allocation among existing component parties will continue. Once a final decision has been made (regarding Muda’s application) we could have further discussions (on seats for Muda).”
Earlier this week, Muda president Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said the party had begun preliminary discussions with PH on joining the coalition. DAP and fellow component PKR are at odds on welcoming Muda to PH.
