Pekan still very much in Bossku’s heart despite his Kajang “sabbatical”

Pekan still very much in Bossku’s heart despite his Kajang “sabbatical”

PEKAN is not only a royal town in the state of Pahang but a Parliamentary constituency whose MP is at risk of automatically losing his seat after the Federal Court recently upheld his conviction of a 12-year imprisonment and RM210 mil fine by the Kuala Lumpur High Court.

Beyond its royalty charm, Pekan is more importantly the hometown of Malaysia’s second prime minister Tun Abdul Razak Hussein and his son, Datuk Seri Najib Razak, who not only inherited the constituency from him but followed in his footsteps to be Malaysia’s sixth premier 33 years later.

But the incumbent MP is slowly losing his grip as the Pekan MP given that Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Azhar Azizan Harun has stated that Najib, who stands out with his Bossku moniker, may automatically lose his status as Pekan MP 14 days from the day he made the Kajang Prison his temporary dwelling (Aug 23).

This is in line with Article 48 of the Federal Constitution which provides that a person be disqualified as an MP if he or she is convicted and sentenced to more than one year in prison or a fine of not less than RM2,000 and does not receive a royal pardon.

With the clock ticking and the 14-day “grace period” almost being up, the incumbent MP could be unseated as early as Tuesday (Sept 6) unless court procedures are initiated or a royal pardon is applied within that period, according to Azhar.

But Pekan folks who owe Najib an enormous debt of gratitude for the so-called “rapid development” within the once state capital and center of Government administration ever since he took charge of the so-called Barisan Nasional (BN) stronghold at age 23 in 1976, are not ready to let their “son of the land” relinquish his MP-ship without a fight.

A solidarity rally has been planned for Bossku at the Dataran Pekan tomorrow (Sept 4) at 2.30pm – most likely in light of Najib losing his MP status as the two-week period is almost up since his jailing for the RM42 mil embezzlement of funds belonging to SRC International Sdn Bhd.

In his latest Facebook posting, this is what Bossku has penned for the Pekan folks: “Take care of the town while I’m gone. They are my villagers, they have been with me for a long time. Please pass the message to (Pahang) MB (Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail).”

Presumably, his social media admin or a family member has added the following description: “Serving Pekan residents from the age of 23. 46 long years. DSN (Datuk Seri Najib) prays that Pekan continues to receive the best devotional service, and its welfare is maintained – as how it has been managed all along – DSN’s family.”

Whether one thinks highly of Bossku or otherwise, he is indeed the “social media king” as aptly pointed out by UMNO president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi – Najib’s posting uploaded a mere 10 hours ago at the time of writing has garnered 15,000 likes, 1,500 comments and 250 shares. – Sept 3, 2022

  1. May you stay long in Kajang....you aided and abetted the theft of Billions of Ringgit of the nation's money, and helped yourself to substantial portions of it.

Worst of all, it was borrowed money, which had to be repayed to foreign lenders... the final payment will be made by our children and grandchildren in 2038.

I pity the idiots chanting Bossku..
