KUALA LUMPUR – Imprisoned former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak was admitted to hospital yesterday because of “recurring stomach issues,” according to his daughter, Nooryana Najwa.
In a post on her Instagram stories today, Nooryana said that Najib is “highly prone” to stomach ulcers, which cause him grief when he is under stress or suffering from gastritis.
“The last time his (Najib’s) ulcers bled last year, he was unaware of his condition until he felt very faint due to internal bleeding and was quietly admitted to (the) hospital for a week,” she claimed.

She added that previously in 2010, he had received medical treatment to aid his bleeding stomach ulcers, which saw him spending three days in hospital.
“I know Daddy (Najib) is not the type to complain if he feels unwell. He doesn’t like to cause inconvenience to anyone, even at the risk of his own well-being,” she lamented.
“By the time he shows symptoms, it is usually too late. Both episodes in the past, we (Najib’s family) caught it too late and he thus required serious medical intervention including a blood transfusion.”
Besides that, she expressed her hopes for the relevant authorities to ensure that Najib receives the necessary medical care, saying: “We hope that Daddy is provided with consistent treatment and care, if needed, by hospital and prison officials.
“Please take care of our Daddy and Bossku. He means the world to us.”
Earlier today, Nooryana also shared a brief clip of Najib entering the courthouse here, accompanied by an entourage, to attend his ongoing 1Malaysia Development Bhd trial.
Yesterday, it was reported that Najib, who is undergoing his 12-year prison sentence at Kajang Prison, was admitted to a hospital.
It was learnt then that Najib had been admitted to the Kuala Lumpur hospital for an undisclosed health condition.
On August 23, Najib became the first former Malaysian prime minister to serve jail time, following the apex court’s decision to uphold the high court’s previous ruling that Najib was guilty of all seven charges in his SRC International Sdn Bhd corruption trial.
In addition to his 12-year sentence, the Federal Court also upheld the RM210 million fine imposed by the high court on Najib.
