Gov’t can’t even provide containers to store the deceased, Najib laments

FORMER Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak lashed out at the Government for failing to provide adequate resources to public healthcare facilities to deal with COVID-19.

He was referring to a Malaysiakini report yesterday where a businessman, N Thirumurthi donated a 40-feet container to Selayang Hospital, in order to keep the remains of those who died out of COVID-19.

Thirumurthi stepped up after Utusan Online reported the hospital administration making a public appeal for additional containers, as it was running out of place to keep dead bodies.

Unimpressed with the recent turn of events, Najib queried on what happened to the billions allocated to help public healthcare facilities as COVID-19 figures showed no signs of abating.

“The Government should be the one providing for public hospitals. I can’t understand what is the difficulty in approving funds to purchase more containers to store people’s remains.

“Not only can’t they contain the pandemic but our healthcare workers have to beg from the public for support,” the Pekan MP retorted. – July 18, 2021.

  1. Najib should know better than anyone else the Byzantine nature of Malaysia's government acquisition process.

In fact Najib and Rosmah appear to have taken full advantage of the pitfalls, for personal gain.
