China's high-speed train promises travel at 600 kph

China's high-speed train promises travel at 600 kph

Chinese authorities eventually aim to connect the country's major cities in less than three hours

AFTER Japan's Shinkansen and France's TGV paved the way, China is now home to the world's fastest train. This magnetic levitation – or maglev – train is capable of reaching a top speed of over 600 kph. All that remains now is to build the appropriate infrastructure to connect the country's largest cities.

A maglev train uses magnetic forces to move, which means that it isn't in direct contact with rails. This eliminates rolling friction and therefore allows for very high speeds. The latest high-speed maglev train, presented by the Chinese state-owned rolling stock manufacturer CRRC, can reach 600 kph, making it the fastest train in the world. In addition to its speed, this train is also characterized by its very low level of noise pollution.

A prototype had been unveiled in 2019, in the aim of allowing the Chinese authorities to connect the country's major cities in less than three hours. To do this, it will now be necessary to develop a whole network of infrastructure to run this type of train, starting more or less from scratch.

The only link currently in service connects Pudong airport to downtown Shanghai, a distance of 30 km covered in less than 10 minutes. The first plans are to build a line between Shanghai and Hangzhou and between Chengdu and Chongqing, scheduled to be operational in a few years.

At present, high-speed trains in China travel at about 350 kph. – AFP, July 24, 2021

  1. Why Bullyland never offer to build our ECRL with this train? Instead they TIPU us with obsolete 160 km/hr junk and charging up to 100 Billion?

Our Menteri Wee KHAT Siong never object? Ayam sure orang Kelate would like to travel to KL in one hour flat to enjoy the bright city life instead of boring KB.

  2. We already have transport that travels at 900 km/h.

It's an A320 or 737, without having to disturb and disrupt the landscape along the way.

    1. Wakakakakaka…

How is that going to jel with yr f*cked carbon footprint? Where's yr environmental impact fart?

Ooop… old moneyed mfer has zilch idea about aeroplane carries much much higher carbon footprint than HSR!

    2. A ling distance maglev line would have to be near perfectly level, requiring massive amounts of concrete to build fully elevated lines.

The manufacture of cement used in concrete and -yes- curing of concrete produces vast amounts of CO2, and is a major producer of atmospheric carbon, far greater than the aviation industry.

Of course, everybody knows China produces Vast amounts of CO2, more than any other country, and doesn't give a fuck about continuing to increase its emissions until after 2030.

    3. Old moneyed mfer, checks CO2 emission per capita lah!

The high total emissions per capita – are the United States, Australia, and Canada. Australia has an average per capita footprint of 17 tonnes, followed by the US at 16.2 tonnes, and Canada at 15.6 tonnes.

This is more than 3 times higher than the global average, which in 2017 was 4.8 tonnes per person.

An MIT class study has estimated the carbon emissions of Americans in a wide variety of lifestyles -- from the homeless to multimillionaires, from Buddhist monks to soccer moms -- and compared them to those of other nations. The somewhat disquieting bottom line is that in the United States, even the people with the lowest usage of energy are still producing, on average, more than double the global per-capita average.

In 2019, CO2 emissions per capita for China was 8.12 tons of CO2 per capita.

"The manufacture of cement used in concrete and -yes- curing of concrete produces vast amounts of CO2, and is a major producer of atmospheric carbon, far greater than the aviation industry."

      What a known nothing fart!

A simple calculation of carbon footprint of total numbers of flights, within US excluding international routes, vis-a-vis the carbon footprint of the total volume of concrete produced within US, would knock this fart back to that orifice it leaked out!

  3. See even Laos got TIPU-ed by Bullyland, like us for our ECRL - 160 km/hr slow-coaches.

Bullyland only build high speed trains for themselves or on territory they annexed, like Tibet. For others they build JUNK.

Liow Tiong Lai and Wee KHAT Siong must explain why we agreed to ECRL.

Laos to test train line to China in August
    23 JUN 2021

Laos plans to conduct the first test on the railway line linking its capital Vientiane and China in August, a Lao official said.

The test on the 420-kilometre track was set for August before the service launch in December, the Vientiane Times on Wednesday quoted the official involving in the project. The name of the official was not identified.

The track starts in Vientiane and connects with the Chinese rail in Boten, the Lao border town in Luang Namtha province.

The train operated by Laos-China Railway Co will run at the maximum speed of 160 kilometres per hour. It is part of the ambitious Belt and Road Initiative that includes a rail connection with Thailand in Nong Khai.

    1. Wakakakakaka…

Those high speed trains of 350km/h & above r for passenger load!

What benefit is that doing to Laos?

Land locked countries like Laos, Nepal need workable cargo feeder train to transport commodities!

Ooop… for blurred mfers, like u, u could syiok yrself using yr ringgit, right?

BTW who the f*ck r u to plan for Laos with yr know-nothingness?

    2. As usual the clowns are out here daily to regale us with their padded fake facts, to give vent to their implacable hatred against China and all things Chinese, hehe. These two goons soldier on ever so courageously with their outrageous lies and spins, their other soldier-in-hate left lying by the wayside, not a word to mourn his absence....tsk, tsk, tsk, heartless bastards, hehe

    3. So I await the huge cargo loads that on our choo-choo ECRL will carry from Kelate and Terengganu to Port Klang....ha ha ha....

Even the HSR did not make economic sense, and that was all passenger.

    4. ECRL vs KTMB.....I await the cargo "miracle"....ha ha ha...

Getting the figures right on ECRL, KTMB
      Rosli Khan -April 6, 2021

It was recently reported that a northern alignment of the East Coast Rail Link (ECRL) project would be much better than a southern link.

Apparently, the northern alignment would carry five million passengers and 26 million tonnes of cargo in its first year of operation. These are very impressive traffic figures.

If it is true, then the ECRL, with a single-line train operation, with only several passing loops in between a single straight line track, would outdo and outperform Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) immediately upon its completion and first year of operation....

    5. Wakakakaka…

As ALWAYS, u r truly f*cked in yr understanding of the ECRL implementation!

      Who owns ECRL?

Who calls the shot in design criteria?

But then no more surprises from a blurred mfer, feeding on foul gaseous leaking out from the fart filled well & enjoying it.
