Sodomy allegations against Anwar Ibrahim - Season of bullsh*t

Malaysiakini has published in Aide alleges sodomy: Report lodged that Anwar Ibrahim has been accused, AGAIN, of sodomy, but this time by his personal aide Saiful Bahari.

According to the Star Online 23-year old Saiful made a police report against Anwar yesterday evening at around 5:45 pm.

Bloke alleged he was sexually assaulted on last Thursday inside a luxury apartment in the city. I wonder why there is a need to describe the apartment as 'luxury'?

He also claimed it was not the first time that Anwar had sexually assaulted him. The Star also reported he is being treated at a hospital in Kuala Lumpur.

KL police chief Muhammad Sabtu Osman confirmed the existence of such a report, and that the alleged victim has been medically examined. But he stated that no arrest will be until the investigation is completed.

Needless to say, the PKR and Pakatan Rakyat people are in turmoil, deep discussions and strategising for the worst outcome. Anwar will hold a press conference today.

However last night or rather, early this morning, at the unholy hour of 1:25am, Anwar issued a press statement asserting the report lodged against him was a complete fabrication.

His statement in full (from Malaysiakini):

"The police report lodged against me earlier today is a complete fabrication. I believe we are witnessing a repeat of the methods used against me in 1998 when false allegations were made under duress. This is clearly a desperate attempt by the Barisan Nasional regime to arrest the movement of the Malaysian people towards freedom, democracy and justice.

"The report has been organised by interested parties to attack me in retaliation for evidence I have recently obtained implicating IGP (inpector-general of police) Musa Hassan and the AG (attorney-general) Gani Patail in misconduct including fabrication of evidence in the cases launched against me in 1998-1999. This vile attack will not prevent me from releasing this dossier to the public.

"I urge the Malaysian people to stand against the repressive forces that will be unleashed by the government in the coming days and weeks. We expect the media, the judiciary and the police force to all come under the direct and unchecked control of the executive.

"My fellow Malaysians - we took a bold step forward on March 8 towards a new dawn for freedom and justice for all of our citizens. This people's movement for change must go on with all of our strength and conviction."

kaytee’s take:

I personally don’t believe the allegations against Anwar, unless of course he is completely mad and utterly stupid, which I know he isn’t.

However, I am not surprised. I believe it’s a tit for tat attack, to put Anwar and his supporters on the defensive.

UMNO has been under siege from Anwar and his cohorts for the last 4 months where the de facto one has been attempting to destabilise the AAB government through a virtually continuous taunting campaign on party defections, quite irresponsible cheap shots at the government's removal of more fuel subsidy, and a series of unsubstantiated attacks on Najib, etc.

Sometimes the best form of defence is attack, and I believe the sodomy accusation is just that. The aim is to take the wind out of Anwar’s sail, to put him on the defensive, to derail his destabilising campaign.

So, the optimum attack would be to use a tested formula, that of tarring Anwar with the evils of sodomising assaults.

Afterall, apart from some Malaysians still harbouring suspicions against Anwar on the issue of sodomy, many like to believe such bullsh*t. There is a willing audience just waiting to be captives to such salacious rumours, rendered more plausible by a police report being lodged by Anwar's own aide.

Whether Anwar really has the dirt on Patail and the current IGP is still unknown but it could well be his reactive counter attack as well, to explain why the police report has been made.

In reality, there is a dearth, nay, absence of credibility on both sides. Both parties are favourably inclined towards mud racking bullsh*t - basically scumbag territory. Mana adanya mentaliti Dunia Pertama di politik Malaysia?

As an example, the series of attacks on Najib, ranging from highly publicised rumours to fake photo on an alleged French dinner to the recent tap dancing ('I have been reliably informed ...') Statutory Declaration about Rosmah being at the murder scene to ‘supervise’ or be ‘completely satisfied’ with the laying of C4 on Altantuyaa (as if she knew what was technically acceptable or she even wanted to turun padang) had been so farfetched and highly implausible to most people except the PKR ‘true believers’.

Many also seem to forget that there is a court case on the murder of Altantuyaa in progress, with 3 accused under trial, but WTF, they aren’t politically important. So the campaign has been to get Najib implicated in the murder, one way or another!

As I said, I am not surprised by the stakes being raised. The players on both sides are jacking up the ante. And the strategy of the play?

The Malaysian old time favourite of “Fling enough poo and surely some will stick”.

Coincidentally, in my satirical post Statuesque Declaration, an Anon said:

"KT, can Anwar be at better place other than Mongolia, perhaps an honorary ambassador to US but stationed in California or Louisiana, can join the annual Mardi Gra[s] maa ..."

I replied: "look Anon of 11:08 PM, tho' I am known as a critic of Anwar I only do so on the basis of his track record, performance, conduct and policies/promises as a politician and a public figure, but not his private life or what he was alleged to be - I have never nor will ever use that to rubbish him."

And to conclude, I don’t believe in the sodomy allegations against Anwar Ibrahim in the same manner that I don’t believe in the contents of RPK’s Statutory Declaration.

  2. Will Hadi Awang of Pas be the next one? For example, blowing up Otontoyol from Mongolia after having an illicit affair with her? Plenty of "witnesses" ready to testify...

  3. This tactic is similar to the Chinese classic.. Sun Tsu - The Art Of War.
    You kill your enemy
using vsrious strategy. Read more and you will understand Malaysian politic.
Even the dirty old horse use this Chinese classic to kill off his former deputy - Musa & Hamzah.
The only thing that can save Malaysia is to have democracy where
the power difference between ruling and opposition is 3% to 5%.
Then you have full time politician.
Not one that have business connection or retire to sit on the Board Of Directors.

  4. A Royal Commission of Inquiry should investigate RPK`s SD - not the IGP or AG (both of whom are biased).

If RPK is wrong he already say he willing to go to hell. So help him.

  6. I have reservation on RPK SD likewise I have the same opinion on the allegation on Anwar.

The government is not that dump, knowing very well Anwar aims and intentions, must already have intelligences monitoring his activities long time ago. Hence they would have all the evidence in picture or video form of Anwar's wrong doing. What the government have to do is just release the picture or video and Anwar will automatically plummet. No need any police report, this only tell me that they do not have such bona fide proof, just another spin

I also do not believe that Anwar is that stupid to involve such in activities knowing very well that people have been watching him closely regarding such matter.

This tit of tat is not surprising, but the actions of both party are irresponsible. I pray for Royal intervention before it get worst.

Cheers and have a nice day

  8. KTemoc, didn't I tell you that you can't play a fair political game with the incumbent when they are able to employ every institutional machinery against you?

MPs crossing over pales in comparison to the kind of things a tyrannical incumbency can do to you.

This goes to show sometimes you have to play on their turf to win. Or get destroyed.

So still up for fair, goodie-goodie play?

  9. Badawi goverment has gone senail after losing public confidence and support. Now, they are desperate and attempting to gain support confidence by discrediting PKR de facto leader by thier usual underhanded tacic. It's utter rubbish for them to stoop so low.

  10. It shows that AAB government has really desperate now knowing that the tsunami waves are reaching closer to bring them tumbling down. Only a stupid person will believe in thing.

  11. Will the IGP and AG now say that this is very serious allegations and slanderous... police will investigate and if untrue, the accused will face serious consequence...? Will AAB be fair enough to say the same? What a crap pm.

  12. We live in an era where conspiracy theory thrives. So this is my take: this could also be anwar's strategy to create a sense of deep and terrible crisis in the country. yes, he is not a sodomite and I don't believe he is either and he knew that people do not believe it either. so create one so he could play victim. he is caught in the middle. he does not actually have the 'numbers' to form the government and no way he could face the public and have an honest and serious debate with Shabery Cheek on the fuel price. so rather than having to face questions from the public when the time comes to deliver on his promise which would surely undermine his credibility, create a crisis now and make himself the victim: that he is no longer safe and he needs the safe sanctuary of a foreign embassy. Give me a break! As Bill Clinton once angrily said about Obama's campaign: this is the biggest fairy tale I have ever heard. Badawi, despite his weakness, is not Mugabe. In fact, we are witnessing unprecedented level of freedom and openness in the country. This is probably just Anwar's way to maintain public distrust towards the government. Try to paint Malaysia as another Zimbabwe where politicians get assasination threat and hoorah - all the public and international attention will be on him.

I believe no member of the government would want to repeat 1998. In fact, i don't think anybody in the current government believe that he was a sodomite when he had to face the allegation in 1998. 1998 was someone else's doing.

The government knows that this kind of allegation will not stand in the court of public opinion. They know that the public will hate them more if they do this. Yes, Anwar is a political threat to them, but not threatening enough for them to lose power on 16 September. At the time when the public is beginning to question the capability and on the promise of the PR in the 5 state governments, this kind of crisis is the last thing a BN government would want.

Anwar has endured worse treatment in 1998 and he can afford to create such sense of treatment - even something which the public will find it impossible to believe - today. It is partly the sense of bad treatment that earns him public admiration and pity. So I won't rule out the possibility that this is Anwar's own doing.

Don't be naive and take everything at face value. What Anwar needs is continuous attention. You have seen how he plays it well. Withoholding evidence, tapes, pictures just so that he could release at the right time so that this country is in perpetual crisis. Anwar is a master politician who knows how to play his card well!

  14. KT,

You have said it all. I think you have got it right. Saiful is just a being made used of to say all that bullsh*t. I wonder how much he was paid or promised.

UMNO has mor to gain than lose in this episode. Moreover, it would be naive for anyone to think that UMNO or Mr Najib would remain quiet or inert in reposne to the politicial "attacks" by Mr anwar or his proxies.

    The "Empire" just struck back.

Question is, how far will the "Empire" strike back? Will that include murder? What do you you all think?

Give your feedback on this matter and let the Government know what is the public's perception of the Government's willingness to indulge in murder to maintain their power, money, position, and privilege.

Personally, I do not think the Hon. AAB would do or approve such a thing, but he could be out-voted by the Mahathirists in the Cabinet and Party such that he is now a lame duck PM. Of course, i am only guessing here.

  15. Same here KT. I don't believe the allegation against Anwar, as much as I don't believe the allegations against Najib and Rosmah.

We are stuck with sick politicians! I wish a major tsunami would totally replaced them with new comers, be it BN or the oppositions.

  16. I beieve in the allegations by RPK in his SD.
I also dont think the Police can carry out the investigations without taking sides.

  17. Although the public opinion that this is what one party does to another for a "HA!take that now" as a revenge, and that view has something to be commented for (truth is indeed stranger than fiction? or the other way round?), something else dun quite add up. I dunno if any political player would be so foolish to employ the same old tricks again..esp where the public generally believe Anwar to have been framed last time around.

Ahh..another day in the volatile soil of Malaysian politics..
