Wee urged to leave the Madani government after allegedly attacking Anwar
IN AN op-ed on a pro-Pakatan Harapan website, a writer has urged MCA leader Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong to leave the MADANI government.
This comes after Wee posted a video demanding a straightforward yes or no answer from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on whether an addendum exists recommending house arrest for former Prime Minister Najib Razak.
“YB Datuk Seri Dr. Wee Ka Siong has launched another attack on Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim (PMX) and the MADANI government, seemingly attempting to portray himself as a hero in the issue surrounding Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s addendum.
“It is time for Ka Siong to not only act and pretend to be a hero but to take his “heroic” stance further by declaring that he no longer supports PMX and joining the opposition,” the oped writer says.
On the other hand, the political secretary to Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Muhammad Kamil Abdul Munim, also criticised Wee regarding the principle of sub judice law.
This came after Wee criticised Prime Minister Anwar for delaying his explanation about the addendum from the Sultan of Pahang, which supported former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak’s request for house arrest.
Kamil accused Wee of twisting legal principles to suit his agenda and acting unnecessarily bold in addressing the issue, especially when the Pahang Palace chose to respect court proceedings by staying silent.
Kamil also questioned why Wee, who was less vocal about Najib’s imprisonment under PM Ismail Sabri, now appears desperate to remain relevant by pressuring Anwar despite prior explanations.
He emphasised that Malaysia is a nation of laws, and legal processes should be respected. —Dec 15, 2024
