MCA president Wee Ka Siong and Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng have clashed over a purported order for Najib Razak to serve his jail sentence under house arrest.

PETALING JAYA
MCA president Wee Ka Siong has challenged DAP to move for a constitutional amendment should the party disagree with the absolute power of the king to grant pardons and commute sentences.

Wee said it was irrelevant whether anyone agreed or disagreed with the decision to place former prime minister Najib Razak under house arrest, to serve the rest of his jail sentence.

The MCA chief’s remarks were in response to a statement by Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng over a purported addendum to a royal order commuting Najib’s jail sentence. The purported addendum calls for Najib to serve the remainder of his six-year jail sentence under house arrest.

Wee said if Lim believed the decision was wrong, then he should bring the matter to the sultan of Pahang (Al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, who was the previous Yang di-Pertuan Agong).

He said that the court had made a decision and sentenced Najib. However, the power to grant pardon or reduce the sentence was fully under the authority of the king.

“These are two different issues and jurisdictions, and Lim needs to understand this distinction,” he said.

Wee also challenged DAP to clarify whether they would withdraw in protest from the unity government if the addendum was confirmed to exist. “Or will they use this issue as an excuse to criticise while remaining in power?” he asked.

  1. It's much like Bidin's pardoning of his son Hunter.

In the Malaysian case, the Agong at the Time, the Pahang Soo-tan pardoned his buddy, Pahang hereditary potentate Orang Kaya Indera Shahbandar Pahang aka Najib ....not a lot of difference.

There should be room in Malaysia for the public to criticise the Pardon decision without it becoming a criminal Sedition offence.

But, legally, it is not subject to challenge, and the Pardon powers in the Constitution should not be changed just because some of the public doesn't like the decision.

    I repeat- Fuck Wee. ..he's just being a shit-stirrer.

MCA led by Wee is sinking into an ever deeper hole. If he and MCA wants to continue on this poo-stirring path, they should just quit and join PN alongside Gerakan.
