'Azmin' - A name too 'geli' for Selangor MB's ears
Selangor Menteri Besar Amirudin Shari launched another broadside against his predecessor Azmin Ali during a Pakatan Harapan ceramah in Pahang last night.
This came after Azmin claimed that Selangor had gone into decline after he left the menteri besar's office.
“Sometimes those who jump ship are too self-absorbed,” Amirudin told the audience.
“Two, three days ago, someone said ‘when I left Selangor, things went downhill’.
“What is his name?” he asked, and the crowd responded: “Azmin”.
“Don’t mention that name, I feel geli (repulsed) to hear it,“ he retorted.

On Sunday, Azmin, who was Selangor menteri besar from 2014 until 2018, claimed that the state had deteriorated since his departure.
Amirudin had retorted with data that showed Selangor actually experiencing continued economic growth since his predecessor left.
‘He did not nothing, nothing at all’
Speaking at the Harapan ceramah last night, he also took jabs at Azmin's performance as menteri besar.
Sarcastically referring to the Gombak MP as "the great man", Amirudin said the former had done nothing to help development at the Klang river.
"He did not nothing, nothing at all," he added.
In comparison, Amirudin said the current administration had brought new development to the Klang river area.
He also said that Azmin had failed to solve land problems faced by settlers at Felda Sungai Buaya near Rawang.
Describing it as a problem since Muhammad Muhd Taib's administration in the early 1980s to the late 1990s, Amirudin said the settlers had been swindled by developers hired to help expand their settlements.
"Menteri besar after menteri besar changed.. until the menteri besar who apparently brought development to Selangor, it was still not solved.”
However, Amirudin said the current Harapan administration has managed to solve problems in Felda Sungai Buaya involving 3,000 parcels of land.
He said this was not his achievement, but the result of Harapan policies.
Amirudin is believed to have been handpicked by Azmin to take over as Selangor menteri besar when the latter became a federal minister in 2018.
He was previously a close associate of Azmin, but, unlike the latter, he did not defect during the Sheraton Move in 2020.

Still have my suspicions on Amiruddin's true intentions.
ReplyDeleteIs he a closet Azmin supporter, waiting to jump as soon as the correlation of forces in Selangor is right ?
Currently, Harapan's majority in Selangor is unassailable.
Even a worst case frogging by Azmin supporters would still leave Harapan with the majority in Selangor.
Things may change after the next elections. A combination of Malay Race and Religion alignment , and Chinese disenchantment with DAP, may leave Harapan much weakened, that is when Amiruddin will show his real stripes.
