DAP added insults to injury against Charles Santiago

Santiago claims DAP leaders never informed him about being dropped

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28, 2022: Former Klang member of parliament Charles Santiago has hit out at DAP leaders, who claimed that he had been informed earlier of the party’s intention to drop him as its candidate for the 15th general election (GE15),

He said in a statement today that the DAP leaders have tarnished his integrity in their effort to counter public backlash following his exclusion from the party’s candidates list.

“Let me make this clear; DAP never informed me that 2018 would be the last time I would be fielded as a candidate.,” he said.

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke and deputy chairman Gobind Singh Deo had claimed that there has been an understanding that the 2018 general election would be Santiago’s last.

“These narratives are an afterthought to mitigate the huge backlash that we are seeing, even before the official candidate list was announced,” said Santiago, whose fate was sealed when DAP announced on Wednesday that former Kota Kemuning assemblyman Ganabatirau Veraman will replace him as candidate for the Klang parliamentary seat.

Santiago said the statements by Loke and Gobind have hurt him as he was hoping for Pakatan Harapan (PH), especially DAP to win the coming general election.
