Claims of BN support for Mahia dodgy

Another baffling 'all BN MPs' joint statement surfaces, Najib raises doubt

Yet another joint statement claiming to represent "all BN MPs" has surfaced, this time claiming they "all" agreed to support Muhyiddin Yassin to serve as prime minister.

The "BN MPs" said their priority now is to ensure the success of the National Recovery Plan and for Muhyiddin to fulfil his agenda to take care of the people.

The joint statement does not carry an official BN letterhead, nor does it carry a list of signatories.

However, FMT reports that an aide to newly-minted Deputy Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob verified the statement as "authentic".

Some BN MPs, such as Annuar Musa (Umno-Ketereh), told Malaysiakini they were party to the statement. Others gave vague answers.

Attempts to reach BN secretary-general Zambry Abdul Kadir for comments have been unsuccessful.

Therefore, at the time of writing, Malaysiakini cannot independently verify if this statement indeed represented all BN MPs.

Last night, it was clear that at least one BN MP - Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, the MP for Bagan Datuk - does not support Muhyiddin.

Zahid, in his capacity as the Umno president, stated that Umno's supreme council had decided to withdraw the party's support for Muhyiddin to serve as prime minister.

This evening, another BN MP - Najib Abdul Razak, the MP for Pekan - raised doubts about the authenticity of the statement.

"Eh? I am a BN MP. Since when did I decide to go against the supreme council's decision?" he asked on his Facebook page.

Najib said he wanted to know who, exactly, were the signatories of the statement.

"I signed every watikah (endorsement letter) for BN MPs. I would know every single name. (The authors of the statement) should provide a name list."

This is the second time since June 23 where a statement claiming to represent "all BN MPs" has surfaced. The earlier statement claimed that BN MPs will not support a no-confidence vote against Muhyiddin.

The previous statement was initially attributed to Ismail Sabri and later attributed to "all BN MPs".

  1. Regardless of what Najib and the rest of the Court Cluster may say, many BN MPs will be drawn to money and power offered by Mahia, like ants to honey.

  2. MCA and MIC with 3 MPs have another chan to "Save Malaysia" from selfish, incompetent politicians. Just declare they don't sapot Mahiaddin/PN. But again they will disappoint us all.
