BUKIT MERTAJAM: Permatang Pauh MP Fawwaz Jan has given his statement to police over investigations into his alleged inflammatory statements against non-Muslims.
Fawwaz said he gave his statement at the North-East district police headquarters at 3pm on Friday.
“The issue is under police investigation. I have given my statement, so let the police investigate. Insya-Allah, there’s nothing to it.
“I do not want to comment any further as the case is under investigation.
“I can’t even remember when the posting was made and when it was taken down by my Facebook administrator.
“There’s nothing to this issue actually. It was deliberately raised. It is not a new issue,” he said when contacted today.
Yesterday, home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission had opened investigation papers on statements allegedly issued by two MPs deemed prejudiced against non-Muslims.
Besides Fawwaz, who is Penang PAS Youth chief, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang is also being investigated.
Both MPs are being investigated under Section 505 (C) of the Penal Code for issuing statements with intent to incite and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998 for improper use of network facilities.
In a Facebook post in January, Fawwaz was alleged to have claimed that infidels were working to “bring down Islam”.
However, not long after that, he issued a statement apologising for the post, saying that it was uploaded by his Facebook administrator.
He also hoped the issue would blow over as the post had been taken down.

1) Yup..it was his Facebook administrator's fault. The administrator did it.
ReplyDelete2) Yup...what's the big deal? "There's nothing to this issue actually"
3) Yup..what's the big deal 2? "the post had been taken down"
4) Yup...what's the big deal 3? It was the administrator's fault/the post is already down and I already apologised. Why bring up the issue deliberately? It is not a new issue.
"Most importantly, I am from the kaum ketuanan and from PAS. Why bother me with a nothing issue?"
